Common Questions and Answers about Diet foods with splenda

diet

Avatar f tn ve asked my PCP for a referral to someone who can help me with diet issues before but she just brushed me off. I'm in an HMO, so maybe it's not a covered service. So does anyone know where I can find a diet I can actually follow without getting sicker?
Avatar f tn Splenda is derived from sugar and taste like sugar. I have yet to find any bowel discomfort with Splenda as I did with Stevia. And Granulated Splenda does not affect ones glucose either. Use only the Granulated version for there are Splenda's on the market [baking, coffee] that contain sugar.

Avatar m tn Hello, I have the same problem , recently and although I haven't gone to the doctor yet, I also had the same problem a few years ago due to Splenda A.k.a. Sucralose; I switched to it in my coffee for 2 weeks, when I reached some sort of breaking point in my immune system, I started itching all over , and had the finger bumps.
Avatar f tn There's a nasty little amino acid out there called tyramine. It's in a LOT of foods, at different intensities, that's a HUGE trigger for me. Chocolate, red grapes and wines, cheeses, yeasty breads, and a bunch of other foods have high tyramine levels. What I did many years ago was Google "low tyramine diet" and go on an elimination diet where I didn't eat any of the foods listed. It was hard to find stuff to eat for a while until I learned how to think low tyramine.
Avatar m tn I also suffer horribly with intestinal issues when I ingest sucralose. I have to read every single cough medicine, cough drop and yogurt label to make sure I am not eating something that has it. They put it in everything! It causes severe discomfort to me and probably to the people around me, to put it nicely. I have the same reaction to Stevia. Both products are touted as "safer" than saccharin or aspartame but those don't make me sick.
Avatar m tn Splenda is chorinated sugar, best left if you are an allergic person and also the other sweetners can be worse, try Stevia all the whole food markets and Trader Joes carry it it very sweet you dont need much can taste a little bitter but you get used to it. Cost is a bit more but you use less, and its a Natural product.
579258 tn?1250649343 I use to use Splenda and drink diet pops. I find that artificial sweeteners give me a headache so I cut them out. I learned to drink my coffee without sugar. If I am going to have something sweet I will use sugar or honey or maple syrup sparingly. Luckily I love cold, cold water so don't miss the pops or else I drink green or herbal teas.
Avatar n tn Replace sugar with artificial sweeteners such as Splenda or Stevia. Also, avoid starchy foods like potatoes, rice, and any foods made with white flour - white bread, crackers, pasta/noodles - as these turn quickly into sugar after eating. Post back if you have further questions.
Avatar n tn This morning i woke up with a substantial pain in my left elbow. when extended it doesn't really hurt to bad, however when I bend it, it is quite painful. I am assuming i must have slept on it in a weird way or something. Possibly with it bent up against my chest and then maybe i rolled on top of it. I am not sure what this means I don't know if i may have hyperextended it in some way or what can be done to help it. If anyone has any advice it would be much appreciated.
Avatar f tn This means that the body has a bit more time to deal with the rise in blood sugar. Also bear in mind Splenda makes a sugar blend and a brown sugar blend. Yes, these Splenda products contain sugar, ½ tsp = 2 grams (Seven grams equals one heaping Tablespoon of sugar). When buying pre-made retail products its a good idea to always ask what Splenda "they" are using.
Avatar f tn I had this same question in my first pregnancy because I had been on the Atkins Diet and had switched to a lot of drinks with Splenda in it. Even after 'slipping' from the diet, I still drank diet soda and *loved* my Crystal Light. Here's what the American Pregnancy Association says about Splenda: "Sucralose: (Splenda) This is non-caloric sweetener that is made from sugar.
Avatar m tn You need approximately 2500-3000 calories per day which is spread across 3 meals a day with snacks between meals. Moderate fat diet means = use polyunsaturated (omega 3, corn oil, nuts, etc) fats and monounsaturated (olive oil, canola oil, peanut oil, etc) fats, no saturated fats (high fat snack foods, butter, fat spreads) and no trans fats.
754352 tn?1233680090 Is splenda ok? can i drink caffeine free diet coke with splenda? what about exercise?
Avatar n tn Only in the respect that I do eat yogurt (the so-called regular type, not the ones that are advertised to help digestion) almost every day. I can't say that I've noticed any difference since doing this (have only been doing this about a month), but again, it could be because of the type of yogurt that I'm eating. Do you use any or a lot of artificial sweeteners such as aspertame or splenda?
Avatar m tn Eat more vegetables and more fruits. Avoid man made prepared packaged/canned foods. Try to make an appointment with a diabetic nutritionist to educate you about foods you should eat and what foods to avoid. Ask your doctor for a referral. "need other tips so that my a-1c gets better. any ideas?" Diabetes control is simple and requires a lifestyle change.
Avatar m tn and my intestines seems to be quieter than they usually were when I was eating the Atkins stuff. Today I went for a long walk and drank some diet tea with splenda / sucralose and about 2 hours later I can hear my intestines working like they are moving some gas, not as much as before, but I did notice it. I will try and keep off all splenda / sucralose products for the rest of the week and see how it goes. God Bless !!!!!!!
Avatar f tn Someone mentioned on another board I belong to that artificial sweeteners can increase pain in those with fibromyalgia. From my personal experience, they definitely make my headaches worse, so I use plain sugar.
Avatar n tn Doctors originally thought it was due to me possibly grinding my teeth at night, as the jaw muscles apparently extend on top of your head. After sleeping with a mouthguard, nothing improved. I happened across an article indicating that Sucralose (aka Splenda) can cause these symptoms. After thinking about it, I had started drinking a lot of Gatorade's G2 product right before the symptoms occurred with me. G2 has sucralose in it, and I immediately cut it out of my diet.
