Avatar f tn Avoid potent ones like indomethacin and diclofenac since there is increased risk of kidney and heart failure. Opioids like co-codamol and hydrocodne may be required if severe pain is there and intracranial lesions are ruled out. eye and ear on the right need to be evaluated since this could be a referred pain. a brain MRI needs to be done to rule out any intracranial lesions or aneurysm. Take care and all the best.
Avatar f tn Hi, I've not got a diagnosis for my pain, however it is concurrent with symptoms for osteoarthritis. As I've been suffering with pain in my knees, hips, lower back and knuckles for 12 years now I'm not holding out on a diagnosis anytime soon, more so because I know how much the medical comminity seem to despise diagnosing osteoarthritis in anyone below 50, I'm 30 so another 20 years to go before acknowledgement of OA will be given!
Avatar f tn I have been taking 8/500 co-codamol tablets since Christmas. I don't take the full daily recommended of 8 per day every day, but do take a certain amount per day (never any more than the recommended dose) when I do not take the co-codamol I start to feel very unwell and extremely agitated. My doctor said I cannot be physically addicted as I am not maxing out every day, but this does not explain why I feel so unwell when I stop taking them.
Avatar m tn ve been having muscular pain in the shoulder area around the teres major/minor or infraspinitus it feels like somebody is twisting the muscle sending pain shooting down my arm, my doctor has prescribed first co codamol 30-500s then gave me gabapentin then changed the co-codamol to dihydrocodine, the problem i have is that the amount i was prescribed to take is not working , I have increased the dosage of gabapentin (as suggested by doctor) to 900mg and the dihydrocodine (not by doctors advice) t
13837385 tn?1446041015 A side effect of co-codamol can be Dysphoria - which is a profound state of unease or dissatisfaction. In certain individuals Dysphoria may accompany Depression, anxiety, or agitation. It appears that what you were/are feeling may be related to the drug. However I'm not convinced that what you are feeling is totally related to Co-codamol. You haven't shared with us if this is ordered by a physician for chronic pain - or if you are taking this recreational purposes.
Avatar m tn i was prescribed co-codamol 30/500 and now i am being prescribed zapain 30/500 capsules instead. the zapain are not killing my pain as well as the co-codamol did? Are they weaker?
Avatar n tn co-codamol comes in different strengths, all with 500mg of paracetamol per tablet. some with 8/15/30 or 60mg codiene. co-codamol acts upon the sensory nerves and motor neurons. when combined these 2 drugs provide very effective relief of moderate to severe pain. they are safe to take together and will not cause any severe harm as long as the dose and intervals are monitored. most common side-effects are nausea, tiredness and fatigue, also light headedness and 'spaced out' feeling.
Avatar m tn This is because taking too much can cause serious problems. With tramadol and co-codamol ( paracetamol with codeine), these are often used to relieve painful conditions where paracetamol alone is not sufficient, such as for muscular pain or nerve pain. The presence of side effects will depend on the dosage and time you took the medicines. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn Yesterday, I went to the doctors for help and he prescribed me slow release Diclofenac and 30/500 co-codamol. This is helping but 4 hours after taking the co-codamol, the pain starts to return with a vengenace. The densist has x-rayed the rear 3 teeth in my lower jaw (which is where the pain appears to be concentrated) and cannot see any problem, nor was I experiencing any real problem there previously (perhaps the odd twinge from the impacted wisdom tooth).

Avatar f tn Please don't take any more OTC co-codamol. They contain a lot less codeine but each one you take will make you're withdrawal symptoms last much longer. The natural amino acid 5HTP will help with the symptoms, calm you down and help you sleep. Valerian Tincture is also very good at helping you sleep at night. Both of these are safe, non habit-forming and available online or from any good healthfood shop. I would get rid of the OTC co-codamol now.
5894884 tn?1386969571 I had a major headache today which wouldnt budge and almost required me to ring in sick. The only pain relief meds we had were some co-codamol and I'm worried it could harm my baby as I didn't really want to have to take anything, nevermind something so strong.
Avatar f tn Co-codamol is another Opiate and switching from Tramadol to Co-codamol won't help you withdraw from the Trams but instead just delay the withdrawal process since they are both opiate related. The symptoms you feel now could be an allergic reaction to the Co-codamol in addition to withdrawal Symptoms from thre Trams.
Avatar f tn Hi all. My doctor has prescribed me 8/500 Co-codamol tablets as I suffer from bad joints, a rare form of migraine which mimics a stroke and have wisdom teeth coming through. I can't take any other medication for the conditions I have but; he has said only have the Co-codamol if you really need it. I've been taking them every 6 hours since yesterday and am worried how long I should continue if my pain doesn't subside?
Avatar f tn Can anyone help me with the withdrawal symptoms of going cold turkey from 30/500 co codamol - I'm really suffering been in them for years .
Avatar m tn ve just filled by repeat perscription (120 co-codamol 30/500) i picked them up about 6 hours ago, and im 8 tabs down, and contemplating another 4, my addiction started off the same way as so many others i've read on here, bad injury many years ago resulting in strong painkillers, and i was fine with them for a long long time, but one day, i slipped and hurt my knee in work (knees were the root of the original pain) and i couldn't afford to go home, so i took 3, just to try and get me thr
Avatar m tn I've had a co-codamol addiction for 2-3 years, it started when I first took them for a bad back, and the feeling it gave me was really good. I was sufferiing with depression at the time and I found that they helped me cope with it until it eventually passed over a period of 2 years. since then I've taken co-codamol daily between 8-10 tablets because of the feeling it gives me. I also drink alot, 4 times a week and heavy when I do drink.
Avatar f tn I'm not familiar with the med co codamol, but if it's anything like vicodin, you could try tapering. The one thing about tapering is it takes so much willpower. You have to set up a taper plan and stick to it. If you ever find yourself taking more than what your planned calls for, you should just go cold turkey. That is if it's a medication that you can go cold turkey on. You could also talk to your doctor as there are other medications out there that can help with withdrawals.
Avatar n tn Hi Thanks for the reply :) I am going to keep my next appointment even if the symptoms go as its really frightened me this time! I never had anything like this before having my youngest son other than I did have sciatic pain down one leg once years ago the doc gave me diclofenac and co-codamol and it lasted a week but I'm talking around 8 maybe 9 years ago now.
Avatar f tn As a result I tried self medicating with over the counter co-dydramol with no results yet again as was the case with co-codamol and diclofenac, that was prescribed. I'd be so grateful if anyone could answer this question. I've searched and searched for information and because I live in the U.
Avatar f tn I started taking co-codamol a number of years ago (can't remember why) but now take them about 4 or 5 days out of 7. I take the soluble ones which I believe have a high sodium content and make me thirsty. As I suffer with anxiety and depression ( I take Citilapram 20) I find that the co-codamol take the edge off it and make me feel relaxed when they kick in. I take them fior tension headaches but find that they actually give me rebound headaches the next day.
Avatar f tn I recently tried "the patch" with a co-pay of $43.00 and returned the whole box so upset because it did not do a thing and actually made the pain worse!!! AND I had red itching spots along the areas of my ankle that have the most arhtritis pain!! I used it for 2 days .. changing the patch ev. 12 hrs and I was in more pain vs. not taking any NSAID at all via mouth. It actually made the pain worse .. worse than not even taking my meds by mouth!
