Common Questions and Answers about Diclofenac vs aleve

arthrotec

Avatar f tn Is anyone on Diclofenac? I am on it for an orthopedic condition and have been on it almost 4 weeks. It works, but am unsure how long I will be on it. As short a time as possible, I hope,...but, I was wondering....for those with arthritis (which it usually prescribed for,,).....are you on it daily? As an ongoing medication? I hope to go off it to avoid risks with prolonged usage, but up to now...it has not caused me any problems.
Avatar f tn Arthrotec is a combination of diclofenac and misoprostol. Diclofenac is a NSAID (Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory Drug) it works much like Ibuprofen or Aleve. Misoprostol is a synthetic (man-made) substance that stimulates secretion of mucus in the GI tract. Mucus helps protects the lining of the stomach. It's suppose to help reduce ulcers sometimes caused by a NSAID. I've not seen literature that says Arthotec is contraindicated in ppl that take birth control medications.
Avatar f tn I would recommend an MRI of head/brain with CONTRAST, an MRI of the neck and a Neurology consult for starts. You should post in the Neurology and Neck/Back Forums vs ENT Forum.
Avatar f tn there are of course other pills that are not addicting ibuprofen (can cause stomach bleeding, aleve which if you go to a doctor they can give you naproxen in higher doses, which is the active ingredient in aleve, same with ibuprofen it can be prescribed in highrer doses, but i would check with a doctor first for sure.
363110 tn?1340920419 I fell down the stairs 1 day after my son came home from NICU (i didnt have him in my arms then tho!). I had SEVERE pain afterwards and had xrays that showed weakened bones (from the pregnancy), EXTREMELY weak L5 from the fall, mild arthritis and mild scoliosis. During this last pregnancy I was referred to Pain MGMT (I had been on Norco and Soma prior to my pregnancy and it did help my pain but the Soma made me have bad side effects) .
473384 tn?1210206242 like that was going to last!). 6 months ago I started taking diclofenac (an NSAID) and apparantly it works REALLY WELL for pain b/c I am supposed to stop taking it 7-10 days before surgery b/c of bleeding issues. I stopped it last week and OMG I can't believe how bad my pain became. I could not even walk, could not get comfortable in bed to sleep, etc etc etc.
Avatar f tn Question. I have started taking Diclofenac 75mg x's 2 a day to try and see if a non narcotic medication may give me some relief long term with my rib pain. I have taken it for 2 weeks and at first I didn't think it was helping at all. Now I think 1 of 2 things either A) it's starting to build up in my system and is helping better or B) My ribs just happen to feel a bit better lately.
Avatar n tn i have taken diclofenac for over 20 years with no side effects i have had to come off the tablets 75mg x twice day 4 days ago as I am showing some drying of kidneys from another mediation to ensure it is that one i have come off anything whih might affect me.
653169 tn?1303446369 Does anyone have any experience with diclofenac? If so, does it work better than over the counter antiinflammatory drugs and does upset the stomach much?
453731 tn?1225199508 You should not take acetaminophen (Tylenol), aspirin, or NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) unless your doctor has told you to. NSAIDs include celecoxib (Celebrex), diclofenac (Voltaren), ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil), indomethacin, naproxen (Aleve, Naprosyn), piroxicam (Feldene), and others. These medicines may affect blood clotting and could cause serious bleeding in your stomach or intestines. Avoid sudden changes in your diet. Vitamin K decreases the effects of Coumadin.
7530804 tn?1398546771 I havent taken any medication while pregnant but woke up feeling like I had been run over. I googled a bit and decided to take an Aleve about a hour ago. Avatar m tn I think I need the strong stuff like diclofenac and B12 and b6. There is a pills called OKA B that I use to take when having muscle pain and it took pains away. But I've heard that diclofenac is not good to take during tx. Has anyone taken diclofenac during tx or is it too bad for the liver.
1204528 tn?1588786333 I checked interactions with carbamazepine + diclofenac epolamine topical/diclofenac ophtalmic/diclofenac potassium/diclofenac sodium/diclofenac topical.
230262 tn?1316645934 Ive been using my motrin 800 which i take 3-5x daily for my back anyhow but it doesnt help my knees. Nor does Aleve. I cant use asprin, it tears my stomach up too much...wondering if anyone has had good relief from knee pain using something other than the above mentioned ?
Avatar m tn I dislocated my shoulder two weeks ago, and had an x-ray in the emergency room which showed no broken bones. I have since seen a physiotherapist, last week, where I have been given exercises and have been told to return in two weeks, to see if there is improved movement of my shoulder/arm, and to see if the pain has subsided. The pain continues to wake me at night, and today, the pain has been severe. I have been unable to do any exercises due to the pain.
1396846 tn?1332459510 Hi Paula, I noticed as I was just starting I felt a bit off the next day but s time went on I am tolerating it without ANY issue. Make sure you take your Advil before shot and then Aleve before you go to bed so you won't deal with the symptoms. Works for me and beleive e if I miss the Advil or Aleve..I feel it the next day.
Avatar n tn If he has arthritis, he should be taking some anti-inflammatory, like Advil or Aleve. That might be more helpful than the Tylenol. If he has a fever, then he should see a doctor as it could be some sort of infection. If the joint/muscle pain continues, it could be something more serious like RA or some other autoimmune condition. He could try going to a rheumatologist. It could just pass in a few more days, but I wouldn't wait too long.
