Avatar n tn Many arthritis sufferers are in a panic over the shortage of Voltaren gel (diclofenac sodium gel) and I get why they are worried. Voltaren gel is a prescription topical anti-inflammatory gel used for all kinds of arthritis pain: rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and osteoarthritis of the knees, hands and hips. People who have stomach issues from taking anti-inflammatories by mouth can bypass that problem with Voltaren gel.
Avatar m tn Treatment with all products containing diclofenac sodium, including Voltaren Gel, may increase liver dysfunction, resulting in severe hepatic reactions and liver ... www.medscape.com/viewarticle/713451 I would definitely not take it!
Avatar m tn According to Novartis, no liver damage is expected when Voltaren Pain Gel is used as directed. Only 6% of diclofenac would be systemically absorbed by percutaneous use. / Translated with www.DeepL.

653169 tn?1303446369 Does anyone have any experience with diclofenac? If so, does it work better than over the counter antiinflammatory drugs and does upset the stomach much?
Avatar n tn And please remember, that if you see multiple doctors, you should let them know all medications you take including anything over the counter such as aspirin. Here is information regarding diclofenac gel. https://www.drugs.com/voltaren-gel.html. Diclofenac is voltaren and the gel contains the Nsaid. This information states clearly that aspirin should not be used at the same time. Normally, blood thinners are also not used with Nsaids.

1840891 tn?1431547793 For topical diclofenac, the number needed to treat (NNT) for at least 50% pain relief vs placebo was 6.4 for diclofenac solution and 11 for diclofenac gel formulation. There were insufficient data to calculate NNTs for other individual topical NSAIDs. "The results presented here show clearly that high quality large studies demonstrate efficacy of topical NSAIDs in 12 week studies, with NNTs similar to those of oral NSAIDs," the authors write. 432376 tn?1266257738 I have bursitis in both my hips, but more predominantly in the left hip. There are exercises that can help relieve the pain. The exercise I do involves laying down preferably on your bed and crossing one leg in a bent position over your other leg which remains in a straight position. Then simply reverse it to treat the other hip if necessary.
Avatar m tn You can apply ice packs and also massage diclofenac gel on the area of pain and you can also consider some diclofenac sprays for pain relief. As you are seeing an orthopedician and going perfectly the right way, follow that properly and have patience and do your physical therapy properly and regularly. Do not exert your affected shoulder with physical activity or by lifting of heavy weights. Take care!

Avatar n tn My PCP currently has me on a short (1 week) oral steroid cycle (methylprednisolone 4mg) alongside topical anti-inflammatory gel (diclofenac) to reduce the swelling and reevaluate later but, if inflammation returns post-cycle, a cortisone injection into that tendon is apparently the next option.

Avatar f tn Hi, This seems to be arthritis of the temporomandibular joint on the right side, the joint capsule is damaged because of which it is getting stretched while you open the mouth widely as well the pain over the front of head is due to muscle strain caused. You can take pain relievers (such as Ibuprofen/Diclofenac), can apply pain relieving gel over the joint and do gentle massage for 3-5min. Avoid chewing hard food on the affected side, take only soft feeds.
