Avatar f tn Is anyone on Diclofenac? I am on it for an orthopedic condition and have been on it almost 4 weeks. It works, but am unsure how long I will be on it. As short a time as possible, I hope,...but, I was wondering....for those with arthritis (which it usually prescribed for,,).....are you on it daily? As an ongoing medication? I hope to go off it to avoid risks with prolonged usage, but up to now...it has not caused me any problems.
1840891 tn?1431547793 //www.drugs.com/mtm/diclofenac-topical.html "Some NSAIDs, particularly sulindac (Clinoril) and diclofenac, showed higher rates of hepatic injury and transaminase elevation more than three times the upper limit of normal compared with placebo. However, even in large systematic reviews, clinically significant outcomes, such as hospitalization or death, were rare. NSAIDs do carry some risk in persons with impaired hepatic function.

Avatar f tn Arthrotec is a tablet containing a combination of diclofenac and misoprostol. Diclofenac is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain. Misoprostol reduces stomach acid and replaces protective substances in the stomach that are reduced by NSAIDs. Arthrotec is used to treat osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis in people at high risk for developing stomach or intestinal ulcers.

I stopped it last week and OMG I can't believe how bad my pain became. I could not even walk, could not get comfortable in bed to sleep, etc etc etc.
Avatar f tn Arthrotec is a combination of diclofenac and misoprostol. Diclofenac is a NSAID (Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory Drug) it works much like Ibuprofen or Aleve. Misoprostol is a synthetic (man-made) substance that stimulates secretion of mucus in the GI tract. Mucus helps protects the lining of the stomach. It's suppose to help reduce ulcers sometimes caused by a NSAID. I've not seen literature that says Arthotec is contraindicated in ppl that take birth control medications.
Avatar n tn //www.drugs.com/voltaren-gel.html. Diclofenac is voltaren and the gel contains the Nsaid. This information states clearly that aspirin should not be used at the same time. Normally, blood thinners are also not used with Nsaids. So, speak with your doctor, of course, but would advise not to use these together based on the provided information.
Avatar n tn No - it contains a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and a medicine that helps protect the stomach from the anti-inflammatory.
975514 tn?1324997938 Has anyone here developed vitreous floaters in their eyes while taking the medication Voltaren (Diclofenac)? I have developed some in my left eye. On the marketing material it states that some people taking the medication have been known to have developed floaters, but it wasn't during the drug trials and it was less than 1% of the people taking it.

Avatar m tn I've been experiencing pain in the neck, which runs down my right arm, for the past 24 months. I initially ignored it because I thought it was due to poor posture from prolonged computer gaming. However, nowadays, the pain has worsened, I consulted a physician who ordered me an x-ray of the cervical spine (AP/Lat). The report came in stating 'loss of normal cervical curvature possibly due to muscle spasm'. Currently, I'm on NSAID (diclofenac) and a cervical collar.

Avatar m tn but the risks of using an NSAID are well mitigated by keeping to dose constraints and taking with food. And if the NSAID is ineffective, there are other medication choices for managing the pain. These points, too, should be explored with your doctor.
Avatar f tn My 59 year old husband, Hep C+ diagnosed in 2007, F-4 Cirrhosis diagnosed in 2010, compensated liver (last blood work was in July, 2012, and he has never had ascites, varices, or hepatic encephalopathy), and failed three Hep C treatments in past 5 years (last failure was triple tx w/Incivek stopped treatment mid-April, 2012 due to viral breakthrough), not currently on treatment. 557111 tn?1219712047 t know what type of pain you suffer from but there is a drug called Diclofenac that I use along with my other medications. Diclofenac is non-narcotic it is an NSAID. It takes awhile to build up in your system but when it does I and others have found that it can be very effective especially for any kind of bone/muscle/joint pain because it builds up in synovial fluid. It may be worth talking to your doctor about it. I take 75mg’s AM & PM. You come to the Dr.
681148 tn?1437661591 I am sorry I am not helpful with the GERD issue. I do have IBS though. I glad that some other community members are beginning to chime in. :) I do however have a very bad right shoulder and had surgery a year and a half ago, so I know exactly how you feel at least with the shoulder issue. I use ice on it to fall asleep some nights and that helps. I also take an NSAID, but I am guessing you can't take those either with your stomach issues? Hrmmmm.....
907515 tn?1251727972 but every decade or thereabouts i get a severe crazy out of control flare up and right now i m going thru one of those... i m on prednisolone and diclofenac (only diclofenac works on me when it is severe, no other NSAID does)... but i hate the side effects of prednisolone!!! i just wonder if anyone out here also suffers from behcet's and has this kind of 'arthritis' that doesn't show up in RA tests?
Avatar f tn Question. I have started taking Diclofenac 75mg x's 2 a day to try and see if a non narcotic medication may give me some relief long term with my rib pain. I have taken it for 2 weeks and at first I didn't think it was helping at all. Now I think 1 of 2 things either A) it's starting to build up in my system and is helping better or B) My ribs just happen to feel a bit better lately.
653169 tn?1303446369 Does anyone have any experience with diclofenac? If so, does it work better than over the counter antiinflammatory drugs and does upset the stomach much?
Avatar f tn Within about an hour, I began to ache less, and the chills had begun to subside. The combination of the Rx NSAID and the acetaminophen finally began to overpower the fever and I felt I could tolerate the rest of the shift. The mystery comes in because I had no other symptoms besides the fever...no cold symptoms, no nausea/vomiting/diarrhea...NOTHING. Just an acute onset fever that was finally controlled with medication, but I have no reason for why I experienced it!!
