Avatar m tn s goal of harmonizing technical information relates to high-dose long-term systemic therapy. As there is only little experience with topical Diclofenac preparations in the USA, the approval authority evaluates the topical preparations just as the systemic ones. According to Novartis, no liver damage is expected when Voltaren Pain Gel is used as directed. Only 6% of diclofenac would be systemically absorbed by percutaneous use. / Translated with www.DeepL.
Avatar n tn Many arthritis sufferers are in a panic over the shortage of Voltaren gel (diclofenac sodium gel) and I get why they are worried. Voltaren gel is a prescription topical anti-inflammatory gel used for all kinds of arthritis pain: rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and osteoarthritis of the knees, hands and hips. People who have stomach issues from taking anti-inflammatories by mouth can bypass that problem with Voltaren gel.
880900 tn?1467270141 Hi folks! Have any of you used Diclofenac or Voltarin Gel for relief from general pain on thighs, etc.(and other large areas ... LOL? What was your experience? Did it actually relieve any of your pain? I've used the tablet form, but it made me sick to my stomach. Is this likely to do the same? Thanks for your help.
653169 tn?1303446369 I took it for inflammation in my foot. I have a calcification in my acheles tendon. I took an Essential Enzyme with it and had no stomach upset. You can get this at a health food store either online or in your neighborhood. I do know this prescription should not be taken for more than a month or so according to my doctor. So my doc just prescribed Voltaren topical. It's the same thing as diclofenac but topical so you are getting less than 1% of it in your body so it's much safer.
Avatar m tn Topical Diclofenac Labeling Updated to Match Oral Agents ... : Treatment with all products containing diclofenac sodium, including Voltaren Gel, may increase liver dysfunction, resulting in severe hepatic reactions and liver ... www.medscape.com/viewarticle/713451 I would definitely not take it!
Avatar n tn And please remember, that if you see multiple doctors, you should let them know all medications you take including anything over the counter such as aspirin. Here is information regarding diclofenac gel. https://www.drugs.com/voltaren-gel.html. Diclofenac is voltaren and the gel contains the Nsaid. This information states clearly that aspirin should not be used at the same time. Normally, blood thinners are also not used with Nsaids.
Avatar f tn Apparently, there is a gel that is already made up that can be used. It is called Emulgel. I think I may ask about that at the next doc. appt.
Avatar m tn You can apply ice packs and also massage diclofenac gel on the area of pain and you can also consider some diclofenac sprays for pain relief. As you are seeing an orthopedician and going perfectly the right way, follow that properly and have patience and do your physical therapy properly and regularly. Do not exert your affected shoulder with physical activity or by lifting of heavy weights. Take care!
Avatar f tn Thanks Randy. My husband's hepatologist called back and said that it's fine for him to go on a short term course of Diclofenac. She said they wouldn't want him to be on it long term, but short term is OK. In checking further with my husband, the tendons that go down the forearm to the wrist are torn, so I guess reducing the inflammation is important. It sounds like he needs the medication (along with ice and rest) so the tendon(s) can heal.
Avatar n tn Get some physiotherapy,it will help in cure.
1840891 tn?1431547793 //www.drugs.com/mtm/diclofenac-topical.html "Some NSAIDs, particularly sulindac (Clinoril) and diclofenac, showed higher rates of hepatic injury and transaminase elevation more than three times the upper limit of normal compared with placebo. However, even in large systematic reviews, clinically significant outcomes, such as hospitalization or death, were rare. NSAIDs do carry some risk in persons with impaired hepatic function.
Avatar n tn My PCP currently has me on a short (1 week) oral steroid cycle (methylprednisolone 4mg) alongside topical anti-inflammatory gel (diclofenac) to reduce the swelling and reevaluate later but, if inflammation returns post-cycle, a cortisone injection into that tendon is apparently the next option.

Avatar f tn Hi, This seems to be arthritis of the temporomandibular joint on the right side, the joint capsule is damaged because of which it is getting stretched while you open the mouth widely as well the pain over the front of head is due to muscle strain caused. You can take pain relievers (such as Ibuprofen/Diclofenac), can apply pain relieving gel over the joint and do gentle massage for 3-5min. Avoid chewing hard food on the affected side, take only soft feeds.
Avatar f tn Well, this morning I had a lot of pain, not in agony pain, but enough to make me very tired and desperately need to lie down by the time I was done in the shower. Took me twice as long as usual to get ready for work, and ended up with BF driving me instead of taking public transportation. I got it filled and took it around 8:30, and noticed around 11 that the pain was now just sore/achy and sooo tired, like if you'd been doing A LOT of lifting of heavy things the previous day.
Avatar n tn i have taken diclofenac for over 20 years with no side effects i have had to come off the tablets 75mg x twice day 4 days ago as I am showing some drying of kidneys from another mediation to ensure it is that one i have come off anything whih might affect me.
Avatar n tn I first noticed it after awakening in the middle of the night from pins and needles in my arm. Later I noticed that the pain seemed to be concentrated on my elbow which was painful to touch. Now my entire arm is painful most of the time and the pain seems to be focused in the muscle as my entire forearm is sore when I contract the muscle by lifting the lightest load. This includes my fingers. I'd be grateful for any suggestions as to what the cause may be.
Avatar f tn My 59 year old husband, Hep C+ diagnosed in 2007, F-4 Cirrhosis diagnosed in 2010, compensated liver (last blood work was in July, 2012, and he has never had ascites, varices, or hepatic encephalopathy), and failed three Hep C treatments in past 5 years (last failure was triple tx w/Incivek stopped treatment mid-April, 2012 due to viral breakthrough), not currently on treatment. Avatar m tn However, in the middle, he suddenly stopped and insert again, I thought he was putting more gel, but when he put in again, I found very strange and I push him away and I found he pull off the condom, the unprotected contact was only about 2 seconds and halfway in. I was very nervous, and I asked if he has done test, and he claimed he is negative. But I am still very worry, as his behavior make me doubt.
Avatar f tn s pointed almost 90 degrees outward or he just hops around. We use 10% Diclofenac gel and heat as our first choice to manage the pain. He seems to be in constant discomfort again..ranging from mild to severe. He is an otherwise healthy, active little boy. His height:weight is normal and he is generally on the small end of both scales. Any possible diagnosis? I understand that any nasty bone tumors have been ruled out by the bonescan & CT. Is there a possible soft tissue cause?
230262 tn?1316645934 I was just given Voltaren Gel(diclofenac sodium topical get 1%) for my neck pain(spinal cord nerve damage) and muscle spasms in my shoulders. I've been using it for the past few days and it has worked wonders for the pain in my shoulders. It comes in pill form too and it is geared for arthritis and pain. I was surprised how quickly it reduced my shoulder pain.
1204528 tn?1588786333 So, what may have happened is that once you stopped taking diclofenac, the level of carbamazepine in your blood went down. Maybe this relieved you of your symptoms. You will still need to take some meds for the pain, isnt it? I think you should visit your doctor - he could prescribe medicines which have less interaction.
Avatar m tn Treatment involves warm compresses and anti inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen or diclofenac. If the symptoms persist then please get an examination done from an ENT specialist/dentist. It can also be due to dental conditions, abscess, burning mouth syndrome, jaw conditions or mouth pathologies. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar f tn s all my life for different reasons. I also have a long history of allergies in my life (rhinitis, latex, dog and cat hair, contact and atopic dermatitis) and my grandmother was allergic to basically 90% of all drugs. A couple of weeks weeks ago, I was feeling unwell, so I took 600mg of ibuprofen and something for the fever (I don't really remember what it was) twice a day for a week and then went to the doctor because I was not getting better.
432376 tn?1266257738 I have bursitis in both my hips, but more predominantly in the left hip. There are exercises that can help relieve the pain. The exercise I do involves laying down preferably on your bed and crossing one leg in a bent position over your other leg which remains in a straight position. Then simply reverse it to treat the other hip if necessary.
Avatar f tn m a little concerned about PDT with aminolevulinic acid while the skin is still red and irritated. I may see if the dermatologist will let me try diclofenac gel. Or possibly I could try a weaker PDT treatment without any topical solution. I would have to pay out of pocket for PDT.
