Avatar n tn I have TMJ - your symptoms sound alot like a mild case of TMJ. Your best bet is to go to your dentist and have xrays taken so that he/she can rule out any infection. I wish you luck, if it is TMJ it's very hard to get rid of....keep us posted!
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with TMJ and I am now going to a special physical therapist for TMJ. THis is starting help the jaw pain. Prior to that I had seen a doctor who gave me a mouth piece to wear to help align my jaw and help the TMJ. Another symptom I have is the loss of smell which in turn gives me a loss of taste. Sometimes I can't smell/taste anything and sometimes I can smell/taste a little bit. I don't know if all of these symtoms are related or not.
Avatar f tn Its just really hard to explain it but ill say it the same way to him as I have here. Thanks for the info. what is TMJ? The only way I can see a neurologist is if my doctor will send me too one.
Avatar m tn quit alcohol for 6 months now; chiropractor since summer; accupuncture since summer; Meds are Diclofenac which really does nothing; on Bactrim now since beginning of the year and the numbness, tingling, and headaches are improved but not gone.
Avatar f tn so it supposed to be good for everything from arthritis to Gout. I take it for pain from a permanent rib injury. It looks like we are about the same age do you mind me asking what you are taking it for? And you are right sometimes they are not very good about telling us that we should not expect results right away and it may take a few weeks for certain meds to work well. Let me know how you do. I am doing well so far but like I said it took a couple of weeks.
Avatar f tn Is anyone on Diclofenac? I am on it for an orthopedic condition and have been on it almost 4 weeks. It works, but am unsure how long I will be on it. As short a time as possible, I hope,...but, I was wondering....for those with arthritis (which it usually prescribed for,,).....are you on it daily? As an ongoing medication? I hope to go off it to avoid risks with prolonged usage, but up to now...it has not caused me any problems.
653169 tn?1303446369 Thanks for info. I also am intolerant of almost all NSAIDS, but did get away with taking diclofenac last winter for a couple of months so I'll probably just go back on it for as long as my stomach can handle it. I have arthritis and fibromyalgia both also. Do you know if fibromyalgia can deform joints like arthritis does? Fibromyalgia is a fairly new diagnoses for me. MY DR. wants me on Savella for it, but I've tried to take it twice and couldn't handle the side effects!
Avatar n tn i have taken diclofenac for over 20 years with no side effects i have had to come off the tablets 75mg x twice day 4 days ago as I am showing some drying of kidneys from another mediation to ensure it is that one i have come off anything whih might affect me.
Avatar f tn There are doctors whom provide treatment on a sliding scale; like your community health department.
Avatar m tn Tho weeks ago I started using the medications on the same area not at the exact same time, but within an hour. I Have had the pain for four days now and it has not seemed to have gotten any better.
Avatar m tn You can also google 'diclofenac and liver'. I have found an articles saying the following: Data collected by the FDA shows that diclofenac, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), has caused serious liver toxicity and liver failure in some patients.

Avatar n tn I would like to know what other pain killers are available for osteoarthritis. I have been on diclofenac for months for osteoarthritis of the knee and degenerative disk disease. I have tried to stop it several time due to concerns that I may get a GI bleed, have a stroke.... but this seems to be the only medication I have found that helps.
Avatar n tn I started going to the chiro about two weeks ago for my tmj and he said I should have neck adjustments for 2 weeks 3 days a week. So far it hasnt helped my tmj it may have made it worse cause im now streesed about my neck it feels sore and numb going down my back. Was this a proper thing to do for tmj?
Avatar f tn For the past five years I have worked on my feet for most of the day and since then have always experienced a lot of pain in my legs and wrist. A friend of mind suggested that I use arthrotec for the pain as it has helped her. I am 32 years old and am on a birth control pill. Any thoughts on the safety of this idea?
1222635 tn?1366396286 we live in alabama..i am assuming that it is not required by law for insurance companies to cover TMJ, as BCBS of AL does not. any help is appreciated. my dentist told me my problem will only deteriorate without treatment and i am at a loss for what to do as we have no money.
Avatar f tn I had an allergic reaction to (apparently) a NSAID. I've taken a lot NSAID's all my life for different reasons. I also have a long history of allergies in my life (rhinitis, latex, dog and cat hair, contact and atopic dermatitis) and my grandmother was allergic to basically 90% of all drugs.
Avatar m tn I've been using a dental mouthguard at night for the last few years because my dentist said I was grinding my teeth at night. The first one broke, and the second one has a large crack in the same location. I've also had TMJ problems, mainly in the right jaw joint, for many years. A couple years ago these got much worse, and I had more jaw pain and migrane-like headaches.
Avatar f tn I see a specialist in TMJ who tells me my case is very severe and he has been urging me for at least a year to get a full surgical joint surgery with new implants. I have heard awful things about that type of surgery. I feel like I haven't heard anything positive. I know when I see him, he is frustrated because my jaw hardly opens and it sounds like crumbling rocks, no more popping, that was the good ole days. His frustration is that I won't give in to surgery.
483733 tn?1326798446 I have been spending thousands of dollars on massage therapy due to what I had thought was shoulder and neck pain from TMJ (diagnosed when a teenager). The pain in my shoulder and neck has been getting worse and worse and I finally convinced my doctor to do an ultrasound and x-ray. It ends up I have tendonosis in my rotator cuff. I would very much like to hear from any other people with this problem. How was it treated? Did you ever get any improvement? What do you do for pain relief?
Avatar f tn During the time I have had these symptoms I have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and TMJ. Nothing has shown up in my bloodwork thus far. I have been taking sulfasalazine and diclofenac for several months and recently my rheumatologist tried a 50mg dose of prednisone for 5 days. My symptoms continued so I stopped taking the pred. Many people have suggested fibromyalgia but I can only come up with about 9-10 trigger points, not the required 11.
Avatar m tn Hi! I've dealt with TMJ for several years, and it is important to find a doctor who actually treats it! For the first several years I had a maxillofacial surgeon and when i moved I found a dentist who specialized in TMJ. The reason why this is important is that they will understand the need for speciliazed splints to reduce harm to the jaw, and also be able to properly medicate, measure the progress and damage to the joint, and see if surgery(rarely) is needed.
Avatar f tn I've had trismus for over 3 weeks now after having a cracked tooth pulled. This tooth had considerable work done on it and was going to get a crown when the dentist discovered it was cracked all the way down to the root. My jaw was getting very stiff each time work was done. Two days later I had it pulled and got the trismus. I am currently going to both the oral surgeon, and a physical therapist. I can assure you that nothing so far has worked. Would botox?
Avatar f tn I also have suffered from tmj for many many years. At first, I thought I actually had a brain tumor, I was feeling that wierd! I felt like my vision was off center, I had shoulder pain, neck pain. sinus problems, and stuffy itchy ears, and feelings of being off balance. I was told its all in my mind ,but that was back some years ago. I eventually got an ortho who put me on a night guard.. i would grind my teeth so hard at night I cracked the dang thing!
Avatar m tn Also, I bet we all do big yawns now and then--I open my mouth very wide and stretch a bit farther for a moment when the TMJ tension is too high. Accupressure w/ a thumb just above the back jawbone in front of the ear and below the cheek bone feels good. Press the spot firmly a few moments--mine makes crackling noises on that spot when opening my mouth. That spot is probably the muscle the chiropractors are pressing from the inside--it feels similar.
