Diclofenac effects

Common Questions and Answers about Diclofenac effects

Avatar n tn The orthopaedic surgeon prescribed Diclofenac to control the pain at a dose of 50 mg 3 x per day. After reading about the side effects, it seems that there is an increased risk of heart attack and stroke the longer one takes this medicine, and my husband already had a heart attack 4 years ago. There are also possible side effects if Diclofenac is taken with Paxil and ace inhibitors, both of which he is also taking.
Avatar n tn i have taken diclofenac for over 20 years with no side effects i have had to come off the tablets 75mg x twice day 4 days ago as I am showing some drying of kidneys from another mediation to ensure it is that one i have come off anything whih might affect me.
653169 tn?1303449969 Thanks much. Do you recall what "essential enzyme" you took with the diclofenac? I'll also check into the voltaren topical, although my pain in so widespread I don't know if that would be feasible.
Avatar f tn Is anyone on Diclofenac? I am on it for an orthopedic condition and have been on it almost 4 weeks. It works, but am unsure how long I will be on it. As short a time as possible, I hope,...but, I was wondering....for those with arthritis (which it usually prescribed for,,).....are you on it daily? As an ongoing medication? I hope to go off it to avoid risks with prolonged usage, but up to now...it has not caused me any problems.
Avatar f tn Question. I have started taking Diclofenac 75mg x's 2 a day to try and see if a non narcotic medication may give me some relief long term with my rib pain. I have taken it for 2 weeks and at first I didn't think it was helping at all. Now I think 1 of 2 things either A) it's starting to build up in my system and is helping better or B) My ribs just happen to feel a bit better lately. I already know all the technical information on how the drug works, is released, what it's used for etc.
Avatar f tn But if your like me, you probably want all you can to help with detoxing, so.... Try diclofenac for the aches associated with dt's if you can get it. I don't know if it will help through the night (which for me is the worst) but I know I'm able to sit at my desk all day without hammering a hole in the ground with my foot when I take it. It's a non-steroid anti-inflamatory like ibprofren except stonger. It's non narcotic and not an opiat. It will not make you feel any different (drowsy etc.

975514 tn?1325001538 Has anyone here developed vitreous floaters in their eyes while taking the medication Voltaren (Diclofenac)? I have developed some in my left eye. I'm taking Diclofenac and Tramadol for pain....but the former doesn't seem to help too much (until i stop, then the arthritis/joint pain gets worse) and the Tramadol is addictive, so i've limited it and want to get off it asap. I'm also taking the glucosamin/chondroitin/MSM stuff, but not sure whether it really helps or not. What are fentanyal patches? pigeonca...i can't work full time either. Still not even up to half time yet, but hopefully soon!
Avatar f tn Hopefully, you can see why your surgeon is insisting you not use what could seem to be a minor risk drug. Perhaps he thinks your body is sensitive to NSAID effects. Maybe he doesn't think any risk makes for good betting sense right now. I don't take Rebif but I can hear that you are miserable following injections right now. I'd ask the surgeon (and your neuro too) if there is anything else you can do to encourage bone growth and healing and/or counteract the Rebif reactions.
Avatar n tn 03% incidence of gastrointestinal effects due to diclofenac). I have heard different things about diclofenac from different doctors. I recently heard from one pediatric anesthesiologist that long-term use of diclofenac can cause potential liver and/or kidney problems, and this doctor ordered blood tests to test for liver and kidney function.
256161 tn?1196882646 0) I was wondering if anyone here has taken Arava (Leflunomide) and their side effects? I started it almost 3 weeks ago for the RA and Sjogrens and have started to have nausea, hair loss, skin sensitivity, burning or tingling of skin, and restless legs (already had, but much worse now), vivid dreams, and torso pain like a cramping sensation in back and sides. I have read too much bad stuff about this medicine and I am hoping someone has had a good experience with it.

1204528 tn?1279825886 It shows that both meds are metabolized by CYP3A4. Diclofenac may decrease levels of CYPA4 (search 'diclofenac inactivation CYP3A4); this could potentially lead to increased levels of carbamazepine. I could not find any direct information regarding this interaction, so it seems that it is not something that happens very frequently. On the other hand, having shortness of breath is also rare with these meds; so it is possible that an infrequent interaction could be the cause.
Avatar n tn Hello! Flector Patch (diclofenac epolamine topical patch). Flector patch is a prescription topical treatment for acute pain due to minor strains, sprains, or bruises. Avatar m tn You are correct about Voltaren Gel and Flector Patch. They both contain diclofenac as the active ingredient. Diclofenac is in the family of NSAIDs, or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. It is similar to aspirin and ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil). NSAIDs are a powerful class of drugs that are used to treat pain and inflammation. However, they are not without adverse effects, especially if taken long term, i.e. daily for 3 to 6 months continuously.
