diclofenac before surgery

I have a large right sided prolapsed L5/S1 disc, due for a discectomy on 9th January 2009. My disc prolapsed on 4th September 2008 and I was immediatley put on 150mg MST morphine, Diclofenac (3 times a day) and valium (at night). I was off my head but I could walk! Now, a few months later, and an MRI confirmation scan, I am due surgery in the next few weeks. Hurrah. Meanwhile I hate the morphine. It controls my life.

Does anyone have any experience with diclofenac? If so, does it work better than over the counter antiinflammatory drugs and does upset the stomach much?

6 months ago I started taking diclofenac (an NSAID) and apparantly it works REALLY WELL for pain b/c I am supposed to stop taking it 7-10 days before surgery b/c of bleeding issues. I stopped it last week and OMG I can't believe how bad my pain became. I could not even walk, could not get comfortable in bed to sleep, etc etc etc. I had tapered my narcs down to ~60mgs/day total before and after I DCd the diclofenac I started increasing them again, to try to get pain relief.

The Diclofenac (anti-inflammatory) has taken the pain away :)

Monday I wen to the doctor cause I was breeding bad an she told me to take a blood pregnancy test right a way I went and my results came back negative. So she told me to take diclofenac for 3days and microgynon tablets for 3months and today makes two days I was breeding for an it stop.

Question. I have started taking Diclofenac 75mg x's 2 a day to try and see if a non narcotic medication may give me some relief long term with my rib pain. I have taken it for 2 weeks and at first I didn't think it was helping at all. Now I think 1 of 2 things either A) it's starting to build up in my system and is helping better or B) My ribs just happen to feel a bit better lately.

i have taken diclofenac for over 20 years with no side effects i have had to come off the tablets 75mg x twice day 4 days ago as I am showing some drying of kidneys from another mediation to ensure it is that one i have come off anything whih might affect me.

Is anyone on Diclofenac? I am on it for an orthopedic condition and have been on it almost 4 weeks. It works, but am unsure how long I will be on it. As short a time as possible, I hope,...but, I was wondering....for those with arthritis (which it usually prescribed for,,).....are you on it daily? As an ongoing medication? I hope to go off it to avoid risks with prolonged usage,but up to now...it has not caused me any problems.

The doctor I visited sent me home with a max dose of diclofenac for 2 week. After no improvement I visited a physiotherapist that forced my arm to bend (joint mobilization) and gave me stretching exercises that I should do each day for 2 weeks. The first few days flexibility improved gradually, but then the bursitis came back. I had an X-ray exam but the doctor said that it only showed my old trauma and nothing new.

i suffer from cervical rib on the right side of the neck..what can i do to reduce pain? is surgery a must.? does collagen supplements strengthen the tissues and muscle around the neck..??

s even worse for me is that during my surgery they removed part of my ligament, so now my shoulder is a little loose. Before the surgery my joints were already loose. They call it hypermoble, which is very common in people with Fibromyalgia. So for example, I can scratch my whole back with both of my arms. Anyhow, now if I lay on my right shoulder, along with the pain I have a feeling that my shoulder is going to pop out of socket. It's horrible!

dear doctor, i had toungue lump excision on 15th sept under general anaesthesia and i know i was pregnant by 16th sept.when they did beta hcg before surgery it was 19,it was incolclusive.they gave me fentanyl,propofol,diclofenac sodium inj,alvacuram,oxynorm inj during the day of surgery.i was worried is this medication will have any problems with my pregnancy?pls advice......

Back in 1973 & 1974, at age 19, I had both kneecaps removed due to Chondromalacia Patella. I wasn't given replacement parts. Now as a 62 female, I find myself walking with a cane and my left knee is extremely painful. I consulted with 2 orthopedic MDs. The first one wanted to do joint replacement surgery. The second one said I am not a candidate for joint replacement surgery since I don't have kneecaps. He prescribed diclofenac potassium for the pain.

The pain in the stomach and nausea is most of the time and if anything it is worse than before I had surgery. I have to take stong pain medication to control the pain. My surgeon says everything is healing and it takes time but should it take this long to recover from this? I have also been having heavy bleeding from this that hasn't let up yet. I would appreciate any advice you could give me.

My left side is totally messed up as is my eyesight. I have been prescribeda med called Cambia. Main ingredient is Diclofenac Potassium. This works will the first couple of times I took it although it truly messes me up, couldn't understand why as it is not a narcotic. Yesterday my blood work came back and my cortisol levels are low. Blood taken before I stated this med. I have had problems with adrienal glad for years. My question is should I take a med with Potassium in it?

I think I need the strong stuff like diclofenac and B12 and b6. There is a pills called OKA B that I use to take when having muscle pain and it took pains away. But I've heard that diclofenac is not good to take during tx. Has anyone taken diclofenac during tx or is it too bad for the liver.

Hello LadyPam912, Reconsult your doctor for surgery. Surgery would be the best suited option as what is an absolute must is re alignment of the bone. Earlier it is better it is. Get an X ray done to know the extent of surgery. In the meanwhile take some pain killer like diclofenac or ibuprofen.

Everyone is different, but I have taken diclofenac before and not had any kind of side effect. The warning is there simply because it could happen, but it is probably a very low probability. If you got this from a doctor who knows you, you should be ok to take it. If not and the script is someone else's, then you probably should not take it. In any event - drinking with them is probably not smart either.

Hi everyone! I had quadruple bypass surgery 5 years ago. No I have implanted pacemaker/defibrillator. Recently i developed severe back pain and can barely walk. I got prescribed Norco, lidocaine patches, and diclofenac 75 mg. Yesterday I took Norco and I put a lidocaine patch and I woke up with weird heart sensation, like slow heart rate or something. Could it be caused by lidocaine patch? I also take the following medication: Atorvastatin Calcium 80 Mg- 1 tab in the evening Carvedilol 6.

Ok embarrasing but I just found out I need surgery for internal and external hemmoroids, Im really worried Ive heard many negative things about this surgery, I have had this problem for 12 years and I can t handle it any more its gotten so painful, any feed back will be appreciated.

In feb 2017 I started having problems with pain and swelling in my big toe joint. I had my gp check it out, she said probably arthritis and put me on diclofenac. By March the pain turned into horrific pain attacks, lasting a few secs at a time. By the end of march i got sent home from work and was told go to a podiatrist(by my boss). The first one i went to swore i was an alcohol and red meat kind of girl and said it was gout.

However, over the last few days, the leg pain has begun to return. It is mainly when I lie down and although it is not as severe as before surgery, it is enough to keep me awake at night and i have had to begin taking pain medication again. I am terrified that the operation has failed. I don't think I have done any thing to re-herniate the disc at all and have followed the surgeon's instrctions for post-op care.
