473384 tn?1210206242 I have severe OA in my left hip and am scheduled for THR on monday. I am taking oxycontin and percocet (60-90mgs oxy/day and 15-20 mgs perc/day, depending) and have been on these for 1 year (I started with 1 percocet/day, HA! like that was going to last!). 6 months ago I started taking diclofenac (an NSAID) and apparantly it works REALLY WELL for pain b/c I am supposed to stop taking it 7-10 days before surgery b/c of bleeding issues.
Avatar n tn 5 mg of hydrocodone which is the opioid (narcotic) component and 325 mg of acetaminophen (tylenol). Diclofenac is a strong NSAID (Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug). These two medications are in totally different classes...one is a opioid and the other is an NSAID. Strictly based on pharmacology, the hydrocodone/acetaminophen is stronger. However, these two medicines should really not be compared in that fashion as they each work better than the other for different types of ailments.
513154 tn?1340225289 I have a question about Osteoarthritis and the pain that comes with it. Last November I had 5, 6, and 7 upper vertebra fused together and feel so much better in that way BUT i can't take anti inflammatory medications for my Osteoarthritis, Tylenol doesn't even help a bit and non of the arthritis over the counter meds help either. My question is... is there a non narcotic pain medication that I can take every day? I am 45 years old and very healthy besides my arthritis. thank you!
Avatar n tn Ms. kas, 29 years old, presents to the triage nurse at the local emergency department, complaining of severe general;ized abdominal pain. She describes the pain as sharp and intermittent. She states, "Over the last four days, I have not been able to have a bowel movement." She states that she is able to drink liquids and is urinating without difficulty. Bowel sounds are present in all four quadrants, however, they are hypoactive (decreased or quiet peristalsis).
653169 tn?1303446369 I tried Mobic and Nabumatone and had problems with upset stomach and headache. In addition to Fibromyalgia I also have arthritis in my spine and shoulder, so I take it for that and I can't live without it. Ibuprofen and Naproxen doesn't even touch the inflammation and pain.
Avatar f tn Yes, I do use this medication, however my RA doc has me make it up into a cream and use it topically instead of swallowing them and risking stomach and intestinal damage. Diclofenac is a rather old, but good good antinflamatory NSAID medication that really can ruin your stomach which is why they don't prescribe it much anymore. I know it may sound strange but it works really well.
Avatar f tn Question. I have started taking Diclofenac 75mg x's 2 a day to try and see if a non narcotic medication may give me some relief long term with my rib pain. I have taken it for 2 weeks and at first I didn't think it was helping at all. Now I think 1 of 2 things either A) it's starting to build up in my system and is helping better or B) My ribs just happen to feel a bit better lately.
Avatar n tn i have taken diclofenac for over 20 years with no side effects i have had to come off the tablets 75mg x twice day 4 days ago as I am showing some drying of kidneys from another mediation to ensure it is that one i have come off anything whih might affect me.
Avatar f tn Wait until symptoms get more worse or fever spikes high.Till then OTC medications like Paracetamol or Diclofenac could help you with head ache and fever.
Avatar n tn Caused from an auto accident, have been dealing with pain and arm weakness the entire time to the point of being in-patent for mental health from it and have lost multiple jobs. Can't find a Dr or neurologist (said I have no spinal dmg at least) that wants to do anything about it.
Avatar f tn For the past month I've been having right upper arm pain.I also had slight upper arm pain in my left arm but its NOT a problem like my right arm and it's basically gone, just thought I'd mention it. The pain has changed a little this week because now I feel it radiating down into my forearm, into my hand.. My upper arm mainly hurts and has a sharp pain when I move my arm using my upper-arm but there is a constant dull ache in my forearm. Heat and cold don't help.
Avatar m tn I think I need the strong stuff like diclofenac and B12 and b6. There is a pills called OKA B that I use to take when having muscle pain and it took pains away. But I've heard that diclofenac is not good to take during tx. Has anyone taken diclofenac during tx or is it too bad for the liver.
Avatar m tn Am a very active person and cannot stop doing things. It's spring time and the body and mind must do things in this awakening times. I'm out in the garden sowing seeds, turning soil planting, cleaning and doing those seasonal chores. My business must go on!!! I do get tired quickly but march on. Do get aches and pains. My question is, every two to three day I'll take a couple of Tylenol 3 to ease the pains. Does this debilitate my liver and risk my program results?

Avatar n tn Since the blood work and the results the doctor told me to stop taking the Celebrex and just to take Tylenol instead. The doctor now wants me to have an upper GI evaluation. What could possibly be wrong?
1204528 tn?1588786333 You are correct. The usual interactions suggest a decrease in levels of the other drugs taken with carbamazepine. Try searching for 'carbamazepine metabolism' and 'diclofenac metabolism'. It shows that both meds are metabolized by CYP3A4. Diclofenac may decrease levels of CYPA4 (search 'diclofenac inactivation CYP3A4); this could potentially lead to increased levels of carbamazepine.
Avatar n tn The effects of cholestyramine and colestipol on the absorption of diclofenac in man.Colestipol produces a similar but smaller effect. Though some information charts say that it should be used with caution in patients with Diabetes,it refers to underlying conditions as renal failure, hepatic impairment,IBS,stroke, clotting problems, asthma, allergies, CD/colitis,HTN,smoking,High LDL/HDL etc are present in your history. Avatar f tn s inflamed tendons and prescribed Diclofenac soldium XR, an anti-inflammatory, twice a day. Wondering if this drug is safe for him to take given hepatitis and Cirrhosis. He has a call back into the PCP to double check before taking it, and I have a call in to his hepatologist to double check before taking it. While waiting for calls back from PCP or hepatologist, wondering if anyone on this forum may know the answer?
Avatar n tn //www.drugs.com/voltaren-gel.html. Diclofenac is voltaren and the gel contains the Nsaid. This information states clearly that aspirin should not be used at the same time. Normally, blood thinners are also not used with Nsaids. So, speak with your doctor, of course, but would advise not to use these together based on the provided information.
553516 tn?1255867219 beta carotene is safe at all doses) According to the April 1996 New England Journal of Medicine, the most common cause of acute liver failure in the United States is the negative interaction between acetaminophen (Tylenol) and alcohol. In addition, there are interactions that are less common but equally as serious. Research suggests individual genetic variations in liver enzymes may be the cause. Hope this helps!!
7510956 tn?1411671417 The OTC products you are told to take might depend on your medical history. The 'Tylenol Question' has been asked many times on here and answered quite well. Advil is a brand of ibuprofen. Here is a thread that has lots of posts related to this http://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn Hi, I posted this question in the Cirrhosis forum, but I thought maybe I'd post it here too, since many members of the Hep C forum also have Cirrhosis. I have a question about an anti-inflammatory medication called Diclofenac for a person with Cirrhosis.
Avatar f tn There may be reasons why, for you, she is suspecting the Diclofenac and not the other. Give her a call and ask. Let us know what happens. I'm glad you're feeling better though - it must have all been pretty scary. I have allergies to some meds, but it's all skin reactions, not breathing stuff. I imagine that's terrifying.
Avatar f tn s pointed almost 90 degrees outward or he just hops around. We use 10% Diclofenac gel and heat as our first choice to manage the pain. He seems to be in constant discomfort again..ranging from mild to severe. He is an otherwise healthy, active little boy. His height:weight is normal and he is generally on the small end of both scales. Any possible diagnosis? I understand that any nasty bone tumors have been ruled out by the bonescan & CT. Is there a possible soft tissue cause?
