1204528 tn?1588786333 You are correct. The usual interactions suggest a decrease in levels of the other drugs taken with carbamazepine. Try searching for 'carbamazepine metabolism' and 'diclofenac metabolism'. It shows that both meds are metabolized by CYP3A4. Diclofenac may decrease levels of CYPA4 (search 'diclofenac inactivation CYP3A4); this could potentially lead to increased levels of carbamazepine.
Avatar f tn Work accident/ Yeh had an MRI, showed torn Disc L5/S1 & problem with surrounding facets. No nerve impingment, just irritated. Im in CONSTANT pain in mid & lower back, into buttock and ito and down mainly right leg, sometimes, left too. I sometimes get cold and pin & needles in feet. They started me on co-codamol & diclofanac, then to tramadol and diclofenac, then added norotriplyene.
653169 tn?1303446369 I tried Mobic and Nabumatone and had problems with upset stomach and headache. In addition to Fibromyalgia I also have arthritis in my spine and shoulder, so I take it for that and I can't live without it. Ibuprofen and Naproxen doesn't even touch the inflammation and pain.
Avatar f tn Yes, I do use this medication, however my RA doc has me make it up into a cream and use it topically instead of swallowing them and risking stomach and intestinal damage. Diclofenac is a rather old, but good good antinflamatory NSAID medication that really can ruin your stomach which is why they don't prescribe it much anymore. I know it may sound strange but it works really well.
Avatar f tn Question. I have started taking Diclofenac 75mg x's 2 a day to try and see if a non narcotic medication may give me some relief long term with my rib pain. I have taken it for 2 weeks and at first I didn't think it was helping at all. Now I think 1 of 2 things either A) it's starting to build up in my system and is helping better or B) My ribs just happen to feel a bit better lately.
Avatar n tn i have taken diclofenac for over 20 years with no side effects i have had to come off the tablets 75mg x twice day 4 days ago as I am showing some drying of kidneys from another mediation to ensure it is that one i have come off anything whih might affect me.
Avatar n tn I just had SI joint injections last week, and cannot believe how much better I feel. I also take Zoloft, Norco and diclofenac, as well as muscle relaxers as needed. I sure hope you get some relief, the stress of worrying about your job doesn't help, Feel better and let us know how things are going.
Avatar m tn I think I need the strong stuff like diclofenac and B12 and b6. There is a pills called OKA B that I use to take when having muscle pain and it took pains away. But I've heard that diclofenac is not good to take during tx. Has anyone taken diclofenac during tx or is it too bad for the liver.
Avatar n tn The effects of cholestyramine and colestipol on the absorption of diclofenac in man.Colestipol produces a similar but smaller effect. Though some information charts say that it should be used with caution in patients with Diabetes,it refers to underlying conditions as renal failure, hepatic impairment,IBS,stroke, clotting problems, asthma, allergies, CD/colitis,HTN,smoking,High LDL/HDL etc are present in your history. So donot worry about anything.
Avatar f tn s inflamed tendons and prescribed Diclofenac soldium XR, an anti-inflammatory, twice a day. Wondering if this drug is safe for him to take given hepatitis and Cirrhosis. He has a call back into the PCP to double check before taking it, and I have a call in to his hepatologist to double check before taking it. While waiting for calls back from PCP or hepatologist, wondering if anyone on this forum may know the answer?
Avatar n tn //www.drugs.com/voltaren-gel.html. Diclofenac is voltaren and the gel contains the Nsaid. This information states clearly that aspirin should not be used at the same time. Normally, blood thinners are also not used with Nsaids. So, speak with your doctor, of course, but would advise not to use these together based on the provided information.
Avatar f tn I had a microdiscectomy 17 days ago after 2 years of sciatica and many conservative treatments. The surgery was L4-5 and the surgeon reported that the prolapse was severe ans that there were multiple fragments of disc material which had broken away. For the first 10 days following surgery I had no leg pain at all - it was like a miracle! However, over the last few days, the leg pain has begun to return.
Avatar f tn Hi, I posted this question in the Cirrhosis forum, but I thought maybe I'd post it here too, since many members of the Hep C forum also have Cirrhosis. I have a question about an anti-inflammatory medication called Diclofenac for a person with Cirrhosis.
Avatar m tn I would say an 8/9 out of ten. I cannot share a bed with my partner and I have the following symptoms. Sciatica left leg, trouble with erectile dsyfunction penis feels cold, no hard on in the morning. Pain on urination, nocturnal urination. I have numbness in my left leg. I have had discussions with my doctor undergone every test imaginable and MRIs but the doctors keep missing and no diagnosis even after five years. I think I've just got lost in the passing from one expert to the other.
Avatar f tn There may be reasons why, for you, she is suspecting the Diclofenac and not the other. Give her a call and ask. Let us know what happens. I'm glad you're feeling better though - it must have all been pretty scary. I have allergies to some meds, but it's all skin reactions, not breathing stuff. I imagine that's terrifying.
681148 tn?1437661591 Perhaps this is something you can talk to your doctor about? I have severe sciatica and nerve damage and I use a ice gel pack at night to sleep with- one that only stays cold for about 20 minutes. It helps calm the symptoms down during the day. Do you have any numbness in your feet or legs or just pain in the buttocks, hips and legs? Have you ever had and EMG or a nerve conduction test performed on your lumbar spine? It sounds like you may have a possible nerve issue going on.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the clarification: feel like a moron sometimes!! I'v had pain in my buttock, sharp pain, does not go down leg but have buzzing and numbness in leg. The pain only lasts for a few short minutes then goes away. It was only for a day, and then disappeared. I've had this pain before and thought it may be positional and attributed it to sciatica but now I'm wondering if it really is. Isin't the sciatic nerve low to be affected by an MS lesion on the spine?
681148 tn?1437661591 but Shanna707 and I were just talking about Diclofenac. I have had trouble too with a lot of NSAIDs and stomach upset and Diclofenac seems to be one I can tolerate and it really helps my shoulder pain. If that isn't an option, you could get a steroid shot? I have a couple of other tips: use a roller ball mouse for your computer so you are not moving your arm. You just move your thumb. It takes about a day or two to get used to, but it helps a lot.
6333619 tn?1386598382 This is my first and the sciatica and hip pain have been excruciating and im 19w5d
Avatar n tn I have red/brown freckles on my lower legs and ankles. Have been on diclofenac potassium for a year for a torn meniscus. Could that have caused those spots?
Avatar f tn Diclofenac is not an opiate and I have not seen anything indicating that it is addictive. This particular preparation is enteric coated, so it helps against stomach upset. It is part of the NSAID drug class and is an anti inflammatory. It is stronger than Aleive or Advil, so requires a prescription.
Avatar m tn The FDA just announced that dicoflenac gel (brand name Voltaren Gel) often prescribed for arthritis pain is linked to severe liver damage and it can happen within the first month of use According to the FDA, this topical gel has been reported to cause liver necrosis (death of liver cells), jaundice, and liver failure some cases of which have required liver transplant and some that have been fatal! Despite these horrible side effects, dicoflenac gel remains on the market.
2073693 tn?1333125546 I agree with msnova that it indeed sounds like sciatica. Sciatica doesn't have to run down the back of the leg to be deemed sciatica. The portion of the leg that the pain shoots down can be dependant upon which disc is herniated and impinging the nerve roots. I experience pain down the sides and the back of my legs and it is caused by nerve impingements on the L5 and S1 nerve roots.
Avatar f tn Imaging methods such as MR Neurography may help diagnosis and treatment of sciatica. You can take OTC pain killers like brufen,do some stretching exercises and yoga and maintain a correct upright posture while sitting. Severe cases may require surgery. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
Avatar n tn The stomach pain does not normally go along with sciatica. In my opinion it is a separate symptom and possibly a clue to your diagnosis. There are so many causes of sciatica that it would be impossible to venture a guess as to what may be going on in your case. Sciatica means that the sciatic nerve is irritated or compressed. Sciatica pain is typically felt from the low back to behind the thigh and radiating down below the knee.
473384 tn?1210206242 I have severe OA in my left hip and am scheduled for THR on monday. I am taking oxycontin and percocet (60-90mgs oxy/day and 15-20 mgs perc/day, depending) and have been on these for 1 year (I started with 1 percocet/day, HA! like that was going to last!). 6 months ago I started taking diclofenac (an NSAID) and apparantly it works REALLY WELL for pain b/c I am supposed to stop taking it 7-10 days before surgery b/c of bleeding issues.
