Avatar f tn My son suffers from hyper thyroid and G6PD. He is 3 years and 3 months old. Still now he cannot stand or walk without support. Even if he is made to walk by holding his hands for one minutes he wants to sit or crawl. He never wants to eat. Whenever he sees breakfast or food (he eats only rice and lentil porridge), he starts to cough. Sometimes he puts his fingers in his mouth to start vomiting. Though he has teeth he never wants to chew.
Avatar f tn He was advised to have SGOT and SGPT and the lab test result is SGPT 68.00 and SGOT 92.9. He is a G6PD baby and I was worried if he has hemolitic anemia already. Can someone explain the implication of high SGOT and SGPT to a G6PD baby? Thanks for ur answer..
1916845 tn?1322424822 When I was 21 I had a UTI and was prescribed Macrodantin and it was discovered 1 week later that I had G6PD Deficiency. I was hospitalized in very serious condition. I was anemic and it was getting worse, my bilirubin was way high, I was jaundiced, I had weight loss, fever, and I eventually had a couple of seizures. Two years ago I was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis after having a chest cold that just would not go away.
Avatar n tn http://kidshealth.org/parent/general/aches/g6pd.html# Sounds like it can act as a trigger for the anemia the defficency causes. Also I agree with others who have answered, go see your doctor and get them to explain it.
Avatar f tn I have read some where that a Mommy who has g6pd herself, got pregnant and lost her child during her pregnancy.. Thanks. Ps: the first delivery was from another partner from my previous relationship.
Avatar m tn I told him that I have G6PD deficiency in which I cant eat beans or take some medications... So until now I have no options for treatment because of the G6PD, and I have had this penis issue since January so I am worried it will get serious eventually. So till this day I dont have severe symptoms... My penis opening looks slimy at times from the inside, but it does not smell. When I went for a jog the other day my testicle felt like I have (Blue Balls).. I just want this to go away...
653169 tn?1303446369 I tried Mobic and Nabumatone and had problems with upset stomach and headache. In addition to Fibromyalgia I also have arthritis in my spine and shoulder, so I take it for that and I can't live without it. Ibuprofen and Naproxen doesn't even touch the inflammation and pain.
Avatar f tn Yes, I do use this medication, however my RA doc has me make it up into a cream and use it topically instead of swallowing them and risking stomach and intestinal damage. Diclofenac is a rather old, but good good antinflamatory NSAID medication that really can ruin your stomach which is why they don't prescribe it much anymore. I know it may sound strange but it works really well.
Avatar f tn Question. I have started taking Diclofenac 75mg x's 2 a day to try and see if a non narcotic medication may give me some relief long term with my rib pain. I have taken it for 2 weeks and at first I didn't think it was helping at all. Now I think 1 of 2 things either A) it's starting to build up in my system and is helping better or B) My ribs just happen to feel a bit better lately.
Avatar n tn i have taken diclofenac for over 20 years with no side effects i have had to come off the tablets 75mg x twice day 4 days ago as I am showing some drying of kidneys from another mediation to ensure it is that one i have come off anything whih might affect me.
Avatar n tn I take a lot of medicines & vitamins regularly. Recently I developed a blood clot, and I did read on this site that Aspirin helps with time. The only disease I have is G6PD I have no allergies or anything Is it okay to try it Aspirin ?!
Avatar m tn There is no association between your G6PD and your risk of getting HIV. No relationship of any sort.
Avatar m tn I think I need the strong stuff like diclofenac and B12 and b6. There is a pills called OKA B that I use to take when having muscle pain and it took pains away. But I've heard that diclofenac is not good to take during tx. Has anyone taken diclofenac during tx or is it too bad for the liver.
Avatar n tn My dentist gave me acetaminophen/cod and I took one last night when I felt tooth pain and I felt fine after taking it but I just remember that I have Mild G6PD Deficiency, the office is close now so nobody is picking up when I called.
1204528 tn?1588786333 You are correct. The usual interactions suggest a decrease in levels of the other drugs taken with carbamazepine. Try searching for 'carbamazepine metabolism' and 'diclofenac metabolism'. It shows that both meds are metabolized by CYP3A4. Diclofenac may decrease levels of CYPA4 (search 'diclofenac inactivation CYP3A4); this could potentially lead to increased levels of carbamazepine.
Avatar n tn The effects of cholestyramine and colestipol on the absorption of diclofenac in man.Colestipol produces a similar but smaller effect. Though some information charts say that it should be used with caution in patients with Diabetes,it refers to underlying conditions as renal failure, hepatic impairment,IBS,stroke, clotting problems, asthma, allergies, CD/colitis,HTN,smoking,High LDL/HDL etc are present in your history. So donot worry about anything.
Avatar f tn s inflamed tendons and prescribed Diclofenac soldium XR, an anti-inflammatory, twice a day. Wondering if this drug is safe for him to take given hepatitis and Cirrhosis. He has a call back into the PCP to double check before taking it, and I have a call in to his hepatologist to double check before taking it. While waiting for calls back from PCP or hepatologist, wondering if anyone on this forum may know the answer?
Avatar n tn //www.drugs.com/voltaren-gel.html. Diclofenac is voltaren and the gel contains the Nsaid. This information states clearly that aspirin should not be used at the same time. Normally, blood thinners are also not used with Nsaids. So, speak with your doctor, of course, but would advise not to use these together based on the provided information.
Avatar f tn Hi, I posted this question in the Cirrhosis forum, but I thought maybe I'd post it here too, since many members of the Hep C forum also have Cirrhosis. I have a question about an anti-inflammatory medication called Diclofenac for a person with Cirrhosis.
Avatar f tn There may be reasons why, for you, she is suspecting the Diclofenac and not the other. Give her a call and ask. Let us know what happens. I'm glad you're feeling better though - it must have all been pretty scary. I have allergies to some meds, but it's all skin reactions, not breathing stuff. I imagine that's terrifying.

681148 tn?1437661591 but Shanna707 and I were just talking about Diclofenac. I have had trouble too with a lot of NSAIDs and stomach upset and Diclofenac seems to be one I can tolerate and it really helps my shoulder pain. If that isn't an option, you could get a steroid shot? I have a couple of other tips: use a roller ball mouse for your computer so you are not moving your arm. You just move your thumb. It takes about a day or two to get used to, but it helps a lot.
Avatar n tn I have red/brown freckles on my lower legs and ankles. Have been on diclofenac potassium for a year for a torn meniscus. Could that have caused those spots?
Avatar f tn Diclofenac is not an opiate and I have not seen anything indicating that it is addictive. This particular preparation is enteric coated, so it helps against stomach upset. It is part of the NSAID drug class and is an anti inflammatory. It is stronger than Aleive or Advil, so requires a prescription.
Avatar m tn The FDA just announced that dicoflenac gel (brand name Voltaren Gel) often prescribed for arthritis pain is linked to severe liver damage and it can happen within the first month of use According to the FDA, this topical gel has been reported to cause liver necrosis (death of liver cells), jaundice, and liver failure some cases of which have required liver transplant and some that have been fatal! Despite these horrible side effects, dicoflenac gel remains on the market.
473384 tn?1210206242 I have severe OA in my left hip and am scheduled for THR on monday. I am taking oxycontin and percocet (60-90mgs oxy/day and 15-20 mgs perc/day, depending) and have been on these for 1 year (I started with 1 percocet/day, HA! like that was going to last!). 6 months ago I started taking diclofenac (an NSAID) and apparantly it works REALLY WELL for pain b/c I am supposed to stop taking it 7-10 days before surgery b/c of bleeding issues.
