Avatar n tn Hello, It is true that Granuloma annulare can occur in patients with thyroiditis and due to association with certain medicines like allopurinol, diclofenac, quinidine, calcitonin, amlodipine, ACE inhibitors, daclizumab, and calcium channel blockers but Mentax is an antifungal and it does not cause granuloma annulare. For exact confirmation you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn I am now up to 300mg allopurinol daily with outbreaks of gout occurring every 3 to 4 weeks. I grow weary of the pain and need to know if there is something else out there that will work like the colchicine/allopurinol combo did. HELP!!
Avatar f tn I have been on colchicine since 7/7 and Allopurinol since 7/21. I have alot of pain in my lower back to the back of my Knee and now my fingers are hurting. My question is how long does this last and once i get the gout flareup under control will i still have the milder pain of the arthritis? I am kind of confused about this. Also at the same time -- I am now being treated for high blood pressure because my creatinine is at 1.13.
653169 tn?1303446369 I tried Mobic and Nabumatone and had problems with upset stomach and headache. In addition to Fibromyalgia I also have arthritis in my spine and shoulder, so I take it for that and I can't live without it. Ibuprofen and Naproxen doesn't even touch the inflammation and pain.
Avatar f tn Yes, I do use this medication, however my RA doc has me make it up into a cream and use it topically instead of swallowing them and risking stomach and intestinal damage. Diclofenac is a rather old, but good good antinflamatory NSAID medication that really can ruin your stomach which is why they don't prescribe it much anymore. I know it may sound strange but it works really well.
Avatar f tn Question. I have started taking Diclofenac 75mg x's 2 a day to try and see if a non narcotic medication may give me some relief long term with my rib pain. I have taken it for 2 weeks and at first I didn't think it was helping at all. Now I think 1 of 2 things either A) it's starting to build up in my system and is helping better or B) My ribs just happen to feel a bit better lately.
Avatar n tn The inflammation and pain has lessened somewhat, I can at least walk now. Does the Allopurinol make your husband sleepy? It seemed to have that effect on me so I hate to take it. Thanks again.
Avatar n tn i have taken diclofenac for over 20 years with no side effects i have had to come off the tablets 75mg x twice day 4 days ago as I am showing some drying of kidneys from another mediation to ensure it is that one i have come off anything whih might affect me.
107366 tn?1305680375 I'm sorry you are having so much pain. I have had gout a couple of times and took allopurinol. I remember my doctor telling me that allopurinol would not help an acute attack - that it is more of a "preventative". I've never heard that you "shouldn't" take it during an acute attack, though. Maybe someone who's had more experience can talk to that issue. I hope you find relief.
Avatar m tn I have to take 300 MGs of allopurinol everyday and my big toe is still always numb and seems like its on the verge of an attack.Anyway I just found out today that I relapsed so there will be no attempt to ween off the meds.
Avatar n tn I also get gout and recently started allopurinol 200mg daily - could this be the cause? If so, if there an alternative to allopurinol that is less harsh on the liver? I did ask my Doctor about this yesterday and he said it was unlikely to be allopurinol though I from what I've ready, I'm not so sure. He thought my SGPT was rise could be explained by my recent jump in LDL Cholestorol from 120 to 144. My triglycerides are also quite hight at 277.
428030 tn?1238281498 ve not had blood in the urine, but I have had Gout and the Allopurinol really helped. I hope it helps your husband as much as it helped me. Good luck.
Avatar m tn I think I need the strong stuff like diclofenac and B12 and b6. There is a pills called OKA B that I use to take when having muscle pain and it took pains away. But I've heard that diclofenac is not good to take during tx. Has anyone taken diclofenac during tx or is it too bad for the liver.
1204528 tn?1588786333 You are correct. The usual interactions suggest a decrease in levels of the other drugs taken with carbamazepine. Try searching for 'carbamazepine metabolism' and 'diclofenac metabolism'. It shows that both meds are metabolized by CYP3A4. Diclofenac may decrease levels of CYPA4 (search 'diclofenac inactivation CYP3A4); this could potentially lead to increased levels of carbamazepine.
Avatar m tn I take 300 mg of Allopurinol daily
Avatar n tn The effects of cholestyramine and colestipol on the absorption of diclofenac in man.Colestipol produces a similar but smaller effect. Though some information charts say that it should be used with caution in patients with Diabetes,it refers to underlying conditions as renal failure, hepatic impairment,IBS,stroke, clotting problems, asthma, allergies, CD/colitis,HTN,smoking,High LDL/HDL etc are present in your history. So donot worry about anything.
Avatar f tn she may have heard this in relation to a medication used to treat high uric acid levels in fibromyalgia patients and is said to reduce pain. The name of the drug is allopurinol. Here is an article you can copy and paste about it https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34715996/. Here is a quote about how uric acid affects those with fibro.
Avatar m tn I recently finished 12 weeks of Sovaldi and Olysio where I cleared and relapsed after I finished.I take allopurinol every day for my gout and did so during treatment. It has no negative effect on you during treatment.Gout can lead to serious problems if not treated. You really should get some blood work to see your uric acid levels.A rheumatologist is the one who treats people for gout but Im sure your GP or hepatologist will write up the bloodwork for you.
Avatar f tn s inflamed tendons and prescribed Diclofenac soldium XR, an anti-inflammatory, twice a day. Wondering if this drug is safe for him to take given hepatitis and Cirrhosis. He has a call back into the PCP to double check before taking it, and I have a call in to his hepatologist to double check before taking it. While waiting for calls back from PCP or hepatologist, wondering if anyone on this forum may know the answer?
Avatar n tn //www.drugs.com/voltaren-gel.html. Diclofenac is voltaren and the gel contains the Nsaid. This information states clearly that aspirin should not be used at the same time. Normally, blood thinners are also not used with Nsaids. So, speak with your doctor, of course, but would advise not to use these together based on the provided information.
Avatar f tn Just wondering...I was placed on Allopurinol and Hydrochlorathiazide after the surgical removal of a staghorn stone after about a year and a half ago. I had three surgeries after that one to get all of it out. Needless to say, I don't wish to have another one but I am curious, do I need these meds forever. I am having trouble with my thyroid now and I don't think the meds are effecting it. However, I have been told that some medications can bother your thyroid.
Avatar f tn Hi, I posted this question in the Cirrhosis forum, but I thought maybe I'd post it here too, since many members of the Hep C forum also have Cirrhosis. I have a question about an anti-inflammatory medication called Diclofenac for a person with Cirrhosis.
Avatar f tn There may be reasons why, for you, she is suspecting the Diclofenac and not the other. Give her a call and ask. Let us know what happens. I'm glad you're feeling better though - it must have all been pretty scary. I have allergies to some meds, but it's all skin reactions, not breathing stuff. I imagine that's terrifying.
Avatar f tn What is usually done is withhold all the drugs and reintroduce them one by one, and check to which drug/s there will be a reaction. In your husband’s case, it is the allopurinol he was taking that caused the generalized rashes. Discontinuation of the drug intake is needed to relieve the drug reaction. Supportive measures like antihistamines and corticosteroids, and hypoallergenic diet can help.
Male I have been on Allopurinol and had two rounds of steroids and within three days of being off the steroids my gout returns. I don't drink, or eat a much meat and have increased my vitamin C to 1500 mg a day, is there anything else I can do?
Avatar m tn Thank you Doctor, I read that the allopurinol can also increase a WBC, and I'm taking 300mg twice daily; hopefully that is the extent of the problem.
Avatar m tn Eat foods rich in vitamin C such as berries, parsley, cauliflower, lemon juice and grapefruit. Eat and drink fresh and organic smoothies and juices with vegetables and fruit. Eat grass-fed, free-range organic and lean meats when eating protein.
