Diabetic ulcer pain

Common Questions and Answers about Diabetic ulcer pain

Avatar m tn I had a past history of oral candidiasis due to excessive orange consumption (but since 2011 there is no episode of candidiasis). The ulcer is asymptomatic (no pain or swelling). The dentist says that he will have to remove the tooth and replace it with an implant. ----- Questions: Is the ulcer originated by the broken reshaped tooth or is there a microbial explanation to it ? Will the tooth removal and the crown replacement by an implant solve the problem ?
Avatar f tn Hello, In my earlier post,I have mentioned some of the common causes of vomitings and nausea. As you have mentioned that your husband is a type-I diabetic,so possibility of diabetic ketoacidosis may be there. It is a state of absolute or relative insulin deficiency aggravated by ensuing hyperglycemia, dehydration, and acidosis-producing derangements in intermediary metabolism. http://www.emedicine.com/emerg/topic135.htm Did your husband get evaluated for his blood sugar levels in the ER.
Avatar n tn After doing the last operation (last July), the doctor had asked me to walk on my heel to prevent any pressure on the ulcer. The ulcer had fortunately healed, but another ulcer has developed in my heel. This ulcer is still unhealed, I saw a neurology doctor, who examined my feet and found that I have already lost my sensation in my left foot (neuropathy).
Avatar n tn she gave omepron because she also suspected ulcer because i also complained mild abdominal pain. maybe i really had an ulcer because i'm not eating much and sometimes im so afraid to eat. my doctor said my HBA1C was very normal. now i'm afraid to my regular meals. as a filipino, our meal consist of rice and now i not eating it because it is a source of great carbo/sugar. my father is not diabetic, i don't about my real mom.ants is not visiting my urine for the past 3-4 days now.
Avatar f tn Five days ago, I went to the ER with severe nausea, fatigue, weakness and dyspepsia, along with right side abdominal pain which I felt predominantly under my right rib (sometimes radiating to my back). I'd been experiencing those symptoms for about 4 days. I developed a non-painful 'sensation'/fullness under my right rib a week before that, but had no other symptoms. So, it took about 2 weeks total before I hit the ER. Ultrasound of my gallbladder was normal. Blood test results were all normal.

Avatar n tn Peptic ulcer pain is usually a burning pain. They commonly occur in the stomach and duodenum. Stomach ulcers cause pain on eating and duodenal ulcers cause pain on fasting (2-3 hrs after eating). Peptic ulcers are eroded areas in the lining of the digestive tract usually in the stomach and duodenum. The two common causes for this are: infection with helicobacter pylori and use of nonsteroidal anti inflammatory medications (NSAID).
Avatar f tn I'm 18 years old. Have been having stomach pain for the last 6 month. I get it every time I eat anything, it doesn't matter what it is. I'd describe it as lightheaded, dizziness, I almost feel "high". And after those symptoms pass, they are followed by constant stomach churning and gurgling, and it's painful. I barely have an appetite anymore, I've lost 30 pounds or so since this has started, I'm not a shy eater so I'm very confused why this is happening out of the blue!
Avatar n tn I spent 10 days in the hospital, every test possible was done, dr's ruled out pancreas, gall bladder and ulcer. I am a diabetic. There is no vommitng associated or nausea. My pain becomes considerably worse after I eat. When I lay down is the only time I seem to get any relief, even then my stomach still hurts but it does not keep me awake or wake me up. I am scheduled to have a colonoscopy done but in the meantime I am worried if there could be an underlying deadly disease, like cancer.
Avatar n tn I am suffering from extreme stomach pain every morning after sleep. Doctor claims some level of gastritis. Do find my stomach is slow to empty after meals. User Lanzor-- Lansoprazole 30 mg before sleep.-- Control Acid secretion. Ulsanic- Sucralfate--no impact. Prepulsid did help-- Now banned.(10 mg) I now try to set a second clock to wake me up after 6 hours of sleep to wake me up and take some anti-acid(Maalox). This seems to limit the pain.
Avatar n tn Always take a anti-ulcer drug like Tablet.Ranitidine 150mg before food and then take any pain killers if required,by doing so you can avert any gastritis caused by the painkillers which are available OTC.
Avatar n tn are there any viable alternative(s) to narcotics for effective pain control for moderate to severe pain? If not, what are better alternatives to the Vicoden and Percocet? We know that we will have to deal with withdrawal issues, too. Really appreciate your responses. I have a great respect for the people in this forum, as I have spent the last 2 hours reading through various discussions. Thanks!
Avatar n tn The 'pancreatitis' pain has now resolved but my original pain remains. I can now relate some of the pain to after meals but that pain usually occurs on the right side. The left sided pain is ALWAYS there. It gets bad and then eases up but is always there. I do become nauseated at times but I am not vomiting. I lost 10 pounds in the hospital but put 6 back on. No further weight loss has been noted. My GI physician is stumped.
Avatar m tn Constant throat pain for four weeks, despite the medication. The pain is mostly on one side of the throat, as if there is an ulcer there which is being irritated by the acid. In my case, this happens when upright, not when reclining. I am told that this is common with LPR (silent reflux). My concern is that the med is having no effect and the pain persists. Afraid that this could be throat cancer.

Avatar n tn Hi all. I had an ablation 4 weeks ago and since that time I have been experiencing chest tightness, pressure, and sharp pains in the heart. I am seeing my doctor on a weekly basis to determine the cause and undergo treatment. Following a work up of tests (echo, nuclear stress, ekg, etc.) the doctor has determined that everything in the heart is normal and that this "discomfort may be something that I just have to ride out.

Avatar m tn Diabetes may be associated with increased susceptibility to infections and reduced healing power and in a few cases may be associated with neuropathy and decreased vascularity that could lead to the formation of a diabetic ulcer. Management of a diabetic ulcer would involve adequate control of blood sugar level, prevention of further trauma/ extension and appropriate antibiotics in the situation of an infection.
Avatar n tn I have been to the hospital 3 times for chest pain, mostly on the left side, left arm pain (sometimes numb, sometimes achey), and sharp pain in my upper back. They ran an EKG, CT scan (they thought i had a blood clot in my lungs), and a chest x-ray. Their results where all basically the same, that it was anxiety or indigestion. Now, I have been on Zoloft for a long time now for anxiety, but when I started having chest pains and numbness in my arm, I began having panic attacks.
Avatar f tn 2) excessive sweating (still occurring) pins and needle feeling severe joint/muscle pain numbing pain in scalp sharp pain behind ears that come and goes (was told that I have a retracted ear drum) White tongue (still occurring) though I had a throat culture that showed "normal flora" Throat burning Random blood spots in mouth that come and go (without trauma) Dark urine that lighted but told I had microscopic bleeding) Pain behind left knee, armfuls and tingling in shins Tiny random r
Avatar n tn If I put my hand on my abdomen while I'm in pain, I feel a lot of intestinal movement. I have a lot of lower back pain. I also have pain in my buttocks that goes through my leg, and also below my right shoulder blade. Bowel movements hurt and even sometimes when I urinate. Sometimes I feel as if my uterus is prolapsing because I feel pressure. My gallbladder looked normal in the laparsopic surgery...could my doctors be missing something? What about my pancreas?
Avatar n tn About 8 months ago I began experiencing pain on my upper left side just below the breast ( the pain is more towards the left bottom of the breast). The pain would only come about 3 or 4 times a week at night while I slept. In the last few months the pain occurs during the day too. The pain sometimes radiates to the back of my ribs. I'm not sure I'm seeing a correlation between what I eat or don't eat and it hurts at all times during the day. It comes and goes during the day.
Avatar f tn But, these pain(s) feel diff. than other ulcer pains, vomiting up to 9x's day, vomit appearance changed from watery, undigested food to thick, frothy undigested food (if food eaten). Hurts after eating throughout GI tract, stomach, cramping in intestines. Insulin-dependent Type ll diabetic with complex partial seizure epilepsy. Sugars high with Trace Ketones today. Seizures increas, but Neuro. not wanting to adjust meds with current symptoms.
Avatar m tn This is what I've been doing while the doctors are trying to find out why I am having upper right quadrant pain. The pain is located under my right rib cage. I cannot digest fatty foods and I am having blood sugar drops and night sweats. I also can have very bad abdominal bloating after meals. I had my gallbladder removed 20 years ago and had a CT scan and Ultrasound of the abdominal area which was normal.
Avatar n tn I rushed my diabetic husband to the ER last Saturday. He is a heavy alcohol drinker. It started Wed., vomited really bad until the next day with diarrhea (was on antibiotics for ear infection). Next 3 days, Thurs, Fri, Sat still very sick vomiting with severe stomach pain. He can not eat his stomach was so painful, even vomits water. Nothing stayed down for 4 days, I had suspicion of dehydration, he was very pale.
Avatar n tn These may aggravate the pain. Most importantly, avoid skipping meals as this will definitely aggravate your ulcer. Also avoid fatty foods for now as it may trigger pain if the case is pancreatitis. Please consult your gastroenterologist for further tests and treatment. HOPE THIS HELPS...LET US KNOW...
Avatar n tn It was occasional problems such as mild sinus pain/pressure and headache with mild eye strain. Each year it has gotten worse. Over the course of the past 5 years I have seen multiple doctors across different specialites: Ears, Nose & Throat, Neurologist, Allergist, and my Intern. I have had MRI's and CT scans. This year has been the worst so far. I have already gotten 2 sinus infections.
Avatar n tn I have exactly the same problem. I had an ulcer before. Took the antibiotic and cured it. But the pain came back after about a month. After that I did gastroscopy and biopsy, which came back h/pylori negative. Did CT scan, ultrasound, PH test etc. etc. all came back negative but I still wake up every night with pain. Biopsy did find inactive chronic gastritis, but when will this stop and how can I cure it???
