Avatar m tn Hi, this may or may not be true w/ your cat, but we had a cat that became a diabetic because of the steroid drug she was put on for some colon issues. I know that sometimes vets will use this drug to treat cancer in our cats, too. So, if your cat has been given a steroid drug, either by injection or pill, then this could very well be the cause of her diabetes. And, as soon as this drug is stopped, so will the diabetes. Best wishes to you. I know first hand how tough your situation is.
Avatar n tn Stable glicemic index with an ulcer on diabetic foot but today this white goo apperead inside the ulcer. Someone knows what should I do as it's very complicated to make an earlier appointment with my doctor.
Avatar n tn The ulcer is probably bleeding causing the dark stool, and if I were you I'd contact your GI and address this new symptom with him. I would think the ulcer would be healed enough by now to not be bleeding, so he needs to know about this. Take care..
Avatar n tn Hi Firenfire! I am not a medical professional, just the mom of a type 1 diabetic, so any information you receive here should be verified with your healthcare team. I have not had any experiences with a high bg being the result of too much caffeine, but perhaps others will share their experience with you. Sounds like you should head to your doctor's for some blood work based on the bg's that you've been having.
Avatar m tn I'm a 55 year old Type II diabetic, diagnosed 3 years ago. This came as no suprprise as diabetes is extremely prevalent in my mother's family. My test meter went haywire about 4 months ago, just after I forked out for my test supply refill. I didn't feel like spending more money, and was doing quite well managing my blood sugar. I found out about 3 weeks ago that diabetic test supplies, meter, and medication are 100% covered under my health care.
Avatar m tn Diabetes may be associated with increased susceptibility to infections and reduced healing power and in a few cases may be associated with neuropathy and decreased vascularity that could lead to the formation of a diabetic ulcer. Management of a diabetic ulcer would involve adequate control of blood sugar level, prevention of further trauma/ extension and appropriate antibiotics in the situation of an infection.
Avatar m tn This is likely to be an ulcer with granulation formation. Management in such a situation is best discussed with his treating doctor and may consist appropriate measures of infection control such as antibiotics, debriment etc and control of blood sugar levels. Hope this helps. Take care!

1752640 tn?1352767394 Gastritis is a more likely scenario. It might not be a bad idea to check with your doc and possibly ask for some testing. You may want to consider asking him to check for the presence of H. pylori, the bacteria that is implicated in causing stomach issues and gastritis.
Avatar n tn After 2 weeks my infection is back. I am a type 2 diabetic and this has gone on for 8 months. What kind of test can I beg for to find the problem?
Avatar m tn It seems like that you should consult a doctor for your blood test (especially sugar for diabetes) and neurological assessment. Diabetes in long run is associated with diabetic retinopathy (gradual loss of vision), diabetic neuropathy (numbness in extremities) and sometimes teeth loss. However, few neurological or different medical conditions may relate to few symptoms. Please consult a doctor at your earliest convenience. Hope this helps.
