Avatar f tn Anyone know of any good websites with diabetic friendly recipes? My mom has diabetes and I'm trying to help her out with a few meals.
Avatar f tn I eat whatever I want really. I had g.diabetes with my first and im now a regular type two diabetic. You don't have to eat vegetables if you don't want to. Be careful with potatoes corn and peas very starchy. Fruits aren't too bad either just eat them in moderation. I eat poptart and candy for most of my snack during the day and im healthy and my baby girl is too!
Avatar n tn //tinyurl.com/atkins-recipes . Replace sugar with artificial sweeteners such as Splenda or Stevia. Also, avoid starchy foods like potatoes, rice, and any foods made with white flour - white bread, crackers, pasta/noodles - as these turn quickly into sugar after eating. Post back if you have further questions.
20602810 tn?1501685257 I'm Diabetic and need a low oxalate diet and I'm so confused with all the different lists online.  My doctor advised taking extra cinnamon in my diet but when I just had surgery on a 6mm stone in my urethra, my diet needs to be changed because cinnamon has high oxalate....but some lists online say it's low oxalate.  Please help me, if you can, in a website that has an accurate low oxalate list of foods and recipes that I can eat being Diabetic AND low oxalate.
Avatar n tn It is not hard to cook proper foods instead of relying on man-made junk foods. There are thousands of recipes on the iNet which one can follow. If weight conscious and diabetic start by lowering your carbohydrate intake. Eat organic whole grains, vegetables, fish and poultry, and fruits, and lean beef and pork. Avoid foods made with white flour; breads, crackers, pasta and white foods like rice and potatoes as these quickly turn into sugar after eating.
Avatar f tn I have gestational diabetes and a couple of diabetes websites have helped me stay on track with recipes and advice. Try diabetes.org they have great budget friendly recipes. And switch out sugar for splenda or sweet n low wherever you can.
Avatar f tn I'm a diabetic and 28 weeks...I cave sweets too lol. Try baking with splenda instead of sugar...they have a lot of splenda cake and cookie recipes.
Avatar f tn My grandpa broke his hip, and while in the hospital, they uncovered that he is diabetic. Apparently, his doctor has known for a while that he was insaline resistant and pre-diabetic, but "didn't think it was a problem". So we're trying to help my grandma (who is 73) to take care with her cooking when (if) he gets out of the nursing home. I appriciate all the help I can get!
Avatar n tn Unfortunately, only a physician can give you an accurate diagnosis of being pre-diabetic or diabetic, and since I am not one, I cannot answer that question for you. What I can do is give you my opinion on what you have told me and share what I do know with you. First of all, I would make an appointment for a complete physical with my physician and explain these symptoms. Writing them down prior to your appointment is important so that you don't forget anything.

My husband's grandmother has a favorite that she always makes, but here is the diabetic version that tastes just the same: Chess Pie 1 stick butter , softened 1 Tbs. cornmeal 1/3 c. milk 3 eggs, beaten 3/4 c. splenda 1 teasp. vinegar 1 teasp. vanilla 1 unbaked pie crust Combine splenda and butter. Beat in eggs.
Avatar n tn Hi Newtoit, I'm a volunteer here and I've had Type 1 diabetes for over 11 years. It must be a difficult and a bit confusing time for your family right now, dealing with your newly diagnosed diabetic child, but it's wonderful that in such a short time you have managed to gather a lot of vital information. Having diabetes or caring for someone who has it is an ongoing learning process. Just keep that in mind whenever you feel frustrated, because we all go through it.
Avatar f tn You might laugh at me for saying this but Marshmallows lol I am dead serious Suck on some marshmallows. lol They have something in them that coats the throat and soothes the pain.
176495 tn?1301280412 I'm a type 2 diabetic, 58 years old diagnosed 2.5 years ago. For quite a while I did very good job eating right but for the last year or so life has been very hectic and stressful and my eating habits have really taken a beating..my blood sugar usually averages around 130, my last A1C was 6.9 and I've gained back most of the weight (30lbs) that I lost.. can anyone recommend a good "every day" cookbook...not one where the meals look like something that belong an art museum..
938718 tn?1323783514 Sigh. I tested positive for gestational diabetes. I thought I was eating healthy, but I guess it's not enough. I'm just waiting now for an appointment at the diabetic clinic. Has anyone else experienced this?
Avatar m tn Given time with those BG you will develop complications from diabetes. Have you started to eat low carb. your body converts carbs to BG. Exercise is a good way to control BG, it lowers it and a muscle that is toned uses more BG even at rest. See a MD BEFORE you develop complications.
Avatar n tn Sorry, but eating this type of food WILL cause type 2 diabetes. Rice Krispie treats/bars contain marshmallows along with additional sugary additives like caramel, vanilla, and artificial sugary fruits. As a kid we called marshmallows fluffy sugar. One marshmallow contains close to 30% sugar. Nutrition facts for one Rice Krispie strawberry bar shows it contains 28 grams of sugar, or the equivalent of 4 [four] heaping Tablespoons of refined table sugar. Why is type 2 diabetes on the rise?
