Avatar f tn Anyone know of any good websites with diabetic friendly recipes? My mom has diabetes and I'm trying to help her out with a few meals.
Avatar n tn We have come up with recipes for cookies, pancakes, spaghetti sauce, chili, banana bread, etc. We also do tacos with corn tortillas and sometimes have 'beanie tacos' (that my kids really like) where we put refried beans, onions, and sauce on the corn tortillas. Rice Chex and Honey Nut Chex work well for cereals. Does any of that sound like it would work for your family?

Also, avoid starchy foods like potatoes, rice, and any foods made with white flour - white bread, crackers, pasta/noodles - as these turn quickly into sugar after eating. Post back if you have further questions.
615752 tn?1361867986 Thought I would post another question on breakfast because that is out worst meal of the day. I have tried different types of cereals but she basically eats porridge-like cereals (actually have only found one she likes). Would like to hear some comments and perhaps exchange some ideas on breakfast for our little ones.
Avatar f tn Are you getting enough iron? I have the same problem. This is my fourth pregnancy in 4 years and I'm ALWAYS overly sleepy &v exhausted but can't sleep all day everyday and take care of 3 toddlers. So I started back taking my prenatal with more iron in it (I spotted for a while die to forgetfulness & constipation) and I try to use cinnamon in recipes to keep my energy up. While I still feel tired everyday is no where near as bad as it was a few days ago.
Avatar n tn It is not hard to cook proper foods instead of relying on man-made junk foods. There are thousands of recipes on the iNet which one can follow. If weight conscious and diabetic start by lowering your carbohydrate intake. Eat organic whole grains, vegetables, fish and poultry, and fruits, and lean beef and pork. Avoid foods made with white flour; breads, crackers, pasta and white foods like rice and potatoes as these quickly turn into sugar after eating.

Avatar m tn I will have an egg and toast, yogurt and fruit and muesli, raisin bran, low fat pancakes or a hot cereal on a rotating basis. I also love making baked oatmeal - you can keep it in the fridge and help yourself over a number of days. Here is one of my favorites: http://www.canadianliving.com/food/maple_baked_oatmeal.

Avatar f tn Hi, I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes at 29 weeks. I have been eating very well - watching my carbs and sugar intakes. However sometimes I really want to eat some sweets ... bakery most of all! I'm looking for some recipes and great ideas that you have used to keep down cravings and keep glucose level in a normal range. I still have at least 6 or more weeks to go ...
Avatar f tn My grandpa broke his hip, and while in the hospital, they uncovered that he is diabetic. Apparently, his doctor has known for a while that he was insaline resistant and pre-diabetic, but "didn't think it was a problem". So we're trying to help my grandma (who is 73) to take care with her cooking when (if) he gets out of the nursing home. I appriciate all the help I can get!
Avatar n tn Unfortunately, only a physician can give you an accurate diagnosis of being pre-diabetic or diabetic, and since I am not one, I cannot answer that question for you. What I can do is give you my opinion on what you have told me and share what I do know with you. First of all, I would make an appointment for a complete physical with my physician and explain these symptoms. Writing them down prior to your appointment is important so that you don't forget anything.
1666434 tn?1325262350 I thought it might be helpful if we made a thread that shared some of your favorite diabetic safe recipes. This can just be something you make yourself all the time or a recipe you converted to be safe.
176495 tn?1301280412 I'm a type 2 diabetic, 58 years old diagnosed 2.5 years ago. For quite a while I did very good job eating right but for the last year or so life has been very hectic and stressful and my eating habits have really taken a beating..my blood sugar usually averages around 130, my last A1C was 6.9 and I've gained back most of the weight (30lbs) that I lost.. can anyone recommend a good "every day" cookbook...not one where the meals look like something that belong an art museum..
Avatar n tn im needing to find a simple diabetic diet plan. the doctor gave me one but it seems really complicated. does anyone know any good sources for diabetic diet plans?
Avatar f tn For some background, I am a 24 year old female who is overweight and has a history of PVCs and anxiety issues. I'm currently on 50mg Zoloft and have been since August. On Monday I started a low-carb diet. On Tuesday I started to feel awful and tired. I did not eat a big breakfast that day due to running late for work. On Wednesday, I woke up with the same light-headed fatigued feeling. I broke my low carb diet and began eating carbs again.
