Common Questions and Answers about Diabetic recipes new year

Avatar f tn I am currently on the hcg injections from the Native Healing Ways clinic. Does anyone have any recipes for this 500 calorie diet? The information that the clinic has provided does list a few recipes but I would like to expand a bit as I am becoming board with current food choices. Also, I am mostly a vegetarian but eat some fish. Thanks!
1461073 tn?1308681148 So it looks like my New Years Resolution yet again this coming year will be to LOSE WEIGHT)-more about that in year 2011. I thought YUMMY, although I am NOT willing to share the 2 pieces I'm eating right at this moment, I will however share my recipe. Anyone who has ever eaten at a Golden Corral Restaurant on Sunday night knows how good their Chocolate Chess Pie is, and I promise you their pie CAN NOT hold a candle to this one.
Avatar f tn Also try looking up diabetic friendly recipe ideas and recipes from the sneaky chief. They may give you ideas for your picky eaters. As far as fresh fruits and veggies go, it's possible to freeze the left overs. (Which depending on season may be better veggies and cheaper unit price.) If you get veggies fresh you can blanch them, by boiling them in water for a few minutes, draining them, then freezing them. You should be able to find the times and procedure online for that.
572651 tn?1531002957 A quiet week ahead for me hopefully after an emotional rollercoaster last week as I celebrated my 5 month anniversary of MS ( only 2 mths official dx). Today I visited my friendly Chiropractor for my fortnightly session. Unfortunately, I have had to drop this to a once a month session as I have reached my insurance limit. Tomorrow I visit the Physiotherapist who is going to do a check up after a fall about a month ago and also develop a strength and exercise program for me.

649848 tn?1534637300 ) Next month, I come up with a new goal and a new reward. This may get your mind more focused on the new healthy habits instead of just the weight loss. Healthy habits are a great thing even if the reward of weight loss itself is elusive to some of us.
Avatar f tn I crave sugar so badly. Do you guys have any recipes for desserts that are diabetic friendly? I've been eating fruit and I know that they say be careful of the sugars in grapes and bananas, but I really like having something that feels like dessert. Anyway, any help is much appreciated! Thanks in advance.
Avatar f tn To add to all this, I'm anemic, type 2 diabetic, hypertensive, and have fibromyalgia. I'm also a 7-year breast cancer survivor. Does anyone have any thoughts for me about any of this, or do you need any more info? Thanks for reading.
20202111 tn?1492379275 I did not take the medication as I did not have any one to guide me through it. When I began working again and was covered on a new health insurance plan I went to my primary physician ( the new insurance would not cover any visits to the functional medicine Dr) and I told him that my previous physician thought I had a thyroid problem. He ran the usual TSH and free T4 and said, nope you are fine. Fast forward to March 2017.
Avatar n tn Lately I have gone on the weight watchers web page and have been trying their dessert recipes (you don't have to join to get them, just sign up) and I must say that it has been fun trying new recipes and I've enjoyed them also. They also have articles that may help you deal with the sweet cravings. I wish you luck and please keep us posted as to how you make out. It is important that you make your appointment soon.

Avatar m tn //tinyurl.com/low-carb-recipes You didn't mention your exercise regimen which should be 30-60 minutes daily. The first 20 minutes or so you're burning off excess glucose, then you burn fat for energy. If you're not breaking sweat your exercise program is lackadaisical. If you walk start slowly to warm up then pick up the pace as if you're late to catching your airline flight. Don't stroll like you're window shopping at the mall, try to walk with a purpose.
3060903 tn?1398568723 My favourite Doctor has aired on Dr. Oz Sept. 18, 2012 I've been looking for recipes from this Doctor and finally I've managed to get some on this program. Good luck with your nutritional goals. This has helped me tremendously.
Avatar f tn I just follow the American Diabetic Association's diet. I have Type II diabetes and my 15-year old son has Type I. We both really have to watch what we eat. Here's the ADA's web site: http://www.diabetes.org/nutrition-and-recipes/nutrition/overview.jsp Other carb-control diets (Atkins, South Beach, etc.) may not be as healthy.
Avatar n tn I'm a 23 year old female with thyroid issues! There's a family hx of thyroid disorders--maternal grandfather had thyroid removed, mother had storm in her 30's and ended up in ICU then had radiation tx and has been hypo ever since, both siters are hypo. 1730963 tn?1310400199 I am very new to this forum. I am in the medical field so I know a good amount about diabetes. My mom has been suffering from it for about the last 15 years. She does not take care of it very good at all. She is 51 years old. She is almost completely blind. They say they can do no more surgery on her eyes. She is about to be on dialysis. We go every 3-6 months for blood work and they said to prepare for it. She has already had one leg amputated because of infection.
Avatar f tn I'm looking up lots of diabetic recipes. In other forums I have read that taste gradually came back for many post tx patients. My dad is longing to be able to enjoy food once more. Thank you again so much for your inputs. Hector, I LOVE you! Hang in there. I pray you'll get a liver soon. I'm a teacher and every year I invite guest speakers to teach about the importance of donating organs to my students (who are all driving age) - I will continue to read up on this forum.
Avatar n tn stuff in the house. Focus on vegetables, lean meats, and low calorie recipes. Make this your new mission. You really CAN do it. Best wishes.
Avatar n tn Weight, diet, nutrition and vitamins are all new chapters in themselves. And an old/new story. One thing that I have found personally is that levels or med types do not reflect weight loss. I don't know how long you have been into thyroid and taking into consideration that we are not all alike. It takes a while for our system to adjust to everything our body has gone through. How long is individual, it could be years (10 yrs for me).
Avatar n tn Hello. I'm Alexandra and I am 24 years old. A year ago I found out I have diabetes, actually they called it low tolerance at sugar or something like that. The highest blood sugar value I've had in this past year was 270 mg/dl. (normal 90-110 mg/dl). I was really upset when I found out. At first I was not recommanded any medicine but I had to follow a very strict diet. Unfortunatelly I lost a lot of weight( from 53 kilos to 45 kilos).
Avatar n tn It's been almost a year since the doctor felt it necessary to check it. It is 8.0. The only diabetes related problem I'm aware of having is a fairly high amount of protein lost in the urine. I've been diagnosed with diabetes for about five years and have worked hard to keep it under control with diet and exercise. I'm on 2.5 Glipizide and have been for years. My mother passed away from complications of diabetes and my sister is on insulin.
390388 tn?1279639813 I found a GREAT RECIPE SITE I thought I would check out. Unfortunately it doesn't have any recipes for thyroid issues; but, it does have the diabetic and heart issue type foods. It is: http://www.everydayhealth.com/publicsite/recipes/viewall.aspx?ShowValueDatas= I figure I I look at these along with the low Glycemic index type of food and how often to eat it would be a good start. I love most of the low glycemic foods so that makes it easy for me. Proportion is my main issue.
Avatar f tn HOWEVER, in the week that I was in the hospital I lost 10 pounds, in addition to the 20 I had just lost in the month I was flaring before being admitted. I am now a 22 year old female, 5'5", 110 pounds, sometimes as low as 106. The past few days my stool has turned yellow and become horrible, cramping, gassy, painful, and frequent, diarrhea. I am also having severe back pain.
Avatar n tn both my sons have type 1 diabetes..the 13 year old was diagnosed at one year; the 11 year old at 5 years old-both boys...
1123420 tn?1350564758 Hey seriously, if anyone wants to share recipes I totally need help in that area. There's like two things I can cook moderately good, everything else I try and fail. lol.
Avatar n tn Wendy your comments are very helpful and indeed encouraging. about a year ago , after developing embarassing bumps around my mouth area I went to see my GP. well guess what - he wasnt sure what it was and called his partner in to have a look. meantime I am squirming...... They agree that it is probably the herpes virus and he prescribes activar topical cream and sends me on my way. six months go by of applying this every morning and evening, with foundation on top of it.

Avatar f tn Others electrolyte sources I've heard of are NUUN, GookinAid-Vitalyte, ThermoTabs, BioSalt-Tabs, BlasiSalts, and a couple recipes that you can sweeten as you see fit (a little sugar, fruit juice, tea, artificial sweetener of your choice, or whatever): A) 1 cup filtered or spring water, 1/8 teaspoon of Sea Salt, 1/8 teaspoon of "No Salt" salt substitute (potassium) B) very dilute mix of Country Time lemonade mix, or store-brand equivalent, with a shot of Morton's Lite Salt (50/50 so
Avatar n tn I've since dabbled with low carb for years-still do-but I retired a year ago and my wake-up glucometer readings are now 90 points lower than my last working days-I sure miss those donuts, though. I have yet to find an acceptable donut :-) Rice in soups or casseroles-high carb. Pasta-high carb. Potatoes-high carb. Bread-high carb. Regular soda pop and fruit juices-high carb. Sugar is interesting-you can have your sugar and eat it too.
