Avatar f tn Hey, with the holiday season here, does anybody feel like sharing some of their favorite recipes?? May sound kinda corny, but I'd love to try out some new things this year. Nothing too complicated, but maybe something you recently had and liked, a personal favorite, or an old family recipe that's stood the test of time.
649848 tn?1534633700 Calling For Healthy Holiday Recipes! The Holiday season is just about upon us and if you are like most people, one of the best things about the season is all the yummy goodies our family, friends or co-workers contribute to parties or gatherings! Then we suffer the "aftermath" when we step on the scale after New Years. The good thing is that we don't have to gain weight during the holiday season...we can focus, instead, on maintaining.
Avatar f tn Anyone know of any good websites with diabetic friendly recipes? My mom has diabetes and I'm trying to help her out with a few meals.

4268628 tn?1375041176 One of these days I want to organize my food board into entrees, appetizers, desserts, and sides. It will take forever with all the recipes I have pinned.
Avatar n tn //tinyurl.com/atkins-recipes . Replace sugar with artificial sweeteners such as Splenda or Stevia. Also, avoid starchy foods like potatoes, rice, and any foods made with white flour - white bread, crackers, pasta/noodles - as these turn quickly into sugar after eating. Post back if you have further questions.
2202853 tn?1347652451 Now I know we are planning on buying drinks and a few appetizers, but not full meals for everyone. It just came to my attention that its tacky not to buy meals for everyone.. but I mean we plan on covering the drinks and appetizers. What do I do?! Please give me your opinion on this situation, I'm starting to stress myself crazy over this. Your help would be gratefully appreciated.
Avatar n tn It is not hard to cook proper foods instead of relying on man-made junk foods. There are thousands of recipes on the iNet which one can follow. If weight conscious and diabetic start by lowering your carbohydrate intake. Eat organic whole grains, vegetables, fish and poultry, and fruits, and lean beef and pork. Avoid foods made with white flour; breads, crackers, pasta and white foods like rice and potatoes as these quickly turn into sugar after eating.

Avatar f tn Hi, I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes at 29 weeks. I have been eating very well - watching my carbs and sugar intakes. However sometimes I really want to eat some sweets ... bakery most of all! I'm looking for some recipes and great ideas that you have used to keep down cravings and keep glucose level in a normal range. I still have at least 6 or more weeks to go ...
Avatar f tn My grandpa broke his hip, and while in the hospital, they uncovered that he is diabetic. Apparently, his doctor has known for a while that he was insaline resistant and pre-diabetic, but "didn't think it was a problem". So we're trying to help my grandma (who is 73) to take care with her cooking when (if) he gets out of the nursing home. I appriciate all the help I can get!
Avatar n tn Unfortunately, only a physician can give you an accurate diagnosis of being pre-diabetic or diabetic, and since I am not one, I cannot answer that question for you. What I can do is give you my opinion on what you have told me and share what I do know with you. First of all, I would make an appointment for a complete physical with my physician and explain these symptoms. Writing them down prior to your appointment is important so that you don't forget anything.
1666434 tn?1325262350 I thought it might be helpful if we made a thread that shared some of your favorite diabetic safe recipes. This can just be something you make yourself all the time or a recipe you converted to be safe.
176495 tn?1301280412 I'm a type 2 diabetic, 58 years old diagnosed 2.5 years ago. For quite a while I did very good job eating right but for the last year or so life has been very hectic and stressful and my eating habits have really taken a beating..my blood sugar usually averages around 130, my last A1C was 6.9 and I've gained back most of the weight (30lbs) that I lost.. can anyone recommend a good "every day" cookbook...not one where the meals look like something that belong an art museum..
Avatar n tn im needing to find a simple diabetic diet plan. the doctor gave me one but it seems really complicated. does anyone know any good sources for diabetic diet plans?
938718 tn?1323783514 Sigh. I tested positive for gestational diabetes. I thought I was eating healthy, but I guess it's not enough. I'm just waiting now for an appointment at the diabetic clinic. Has anyone else experienced this?
1461073 tn?1308677548 Hello I am new to this forum and was sitting on the MH site while eating 2 pieces of this pie with whipped cream on top of them (Yes I said 2, Please do not Judge me I am a Weak Chocoholic especially during the Holidays and have made 2 of these pies TWICE since Thanksgiving. So it looks like my New Years Resolution yet again this coming year will be to LOSE WEIGHT)-more about that in year 2011.
Avatar n tn Hi! My husband is 49 years old, diabetic. They say he's in the border line at 7 to 8 mmol. My concern is what are the proper kinds of food that he should have? Are fruits not good for him due to its sugar content? What is his limit for an alcohol intake? Can you recommend a website for me to view a sample menu for diabetics? Please help. Thanks.
Avatar f tn I sit beside a diabetic at work and any time he eats something sweet (not that often), he eats a spoonful of peanut butter. I'd try to get the veggies you can stand. I mix peas with my mashed potatoes to help choke them down.
Avatar m tn yes those readings are diabetic. you need to see a MD and reduce your carbohydrates you eat its NOT sugar its carbs. our body converts carbs to blood sugar.
