He was a diabetic for years, but since a major weight loss over the past 3 years, he is no longer.(But the damage is done) He has hepatitis C, hypertension, and also has had to have an implant for dialysis. Avatar n tn I am 38 years old and have been suffering from digestive problems since my 3rd pregnancy six years ago. Initially, I was diagnosed with GERD and an esophageal stricture (which was dilated during an endoscopy). I was also diagnosed with a slight hiatal hernia. I have been on some type of GERD med continuously for about five years and seemed to be stabilized on the meds up until about the last four months. For the last four months, it initially appeared that my GERD was worsening again.

Avatar f tn She has been diagnosed wiht GERD and gastroparesis. In the past she has been on a j tube but has now been put back on a g tube which is obviously easier to deal with when she pulls it out. My question is when she eats she appears to be choking but never really does choke. We have been to every dr imaginable and I am wondering do I just wait out the GERD and gastroparesis or do I put my little girl through more tests to a quesiton that may not have an answer except wait?
Avatar f tn It's called diabetic diarrhea and it is caused by neuropathy. Gastroparesis is another symptom of diabetic neuropathy.
484160 tn?1343397921 Then they took out her gallbladder on the 10th of this month. Now they are calling it diabetic stomach (gastroparesis). She has been throwing up uncontrollably off and on for 2 years. She went in on the 10th and they removed her gallbladder. She went home from that and was back in the hospital on the 14th or 15th. They kept her until last night, sent her home and she is headed back to the hospital this morning, still throwing up.
Avatar m tn s a lot of information on gastroparesis, though nowhere near enough research. Some estimates say that people with GERD have somewhere between a 10% to 40% incidence of delayed gastric emptying, so the potential number of people with this condition is HUGE. The question, before I continue, is WHY you're looking for info. Is it for you, for someone else, or for general research?
Avatar m tn I don't know how long I have had diabetes II, I started on pills maybe in 1996. There was no name like Gert or Gastroparesis. A Doctor shoved a pipe down my throat and looked at my ? What he said sounded like something like a "cut" in my esophagus that let acid come up into my esophagus. I learned over 2 years, anytime I ate Roast Beef or tomatoe Juice, that place would close up and keep water from going into my stomach, after a few minutes, it would open back up.
Avatar m tn Some of the symptoms you described could be related to gastroparesis. With gastroparesis fibres foods such as fresh fruit and vegetables are not digested properly due to the fact that the muscles in your stomach are not working correctly. I'm not an expert but google Gastroparesis symptoms and if you think you are experiencing some of these symptoms it might be worth mentioning to your doctor.
Avatar n tn You can access more information on the drug by going to www.zelnorm.com. i take it because i have diabetic gastroparesis, which is cause by damage to the autonomic nerves controlling the stomach and intestines. i have found it very helpful in restoring normal movement in the whole gastric system. i hope you also find it to be helpful. i haven't noticed any side effects though if you occasionally get diareah (sp?) it can make that worse.
Avatar n tn com This site has a forum. The president of the US based non-profit is a type I diabetic with gastroparesis. She has a lot of insight and suggestions regarding gastroparesis and its affect on diabetes.
Avatar n tn Got the final word it's definately Gastroparesis...finally an answer to the bloating, fullness and downright feeling bad. I tried Reglan and it did not help at all. My doc just put me on Domperidone which I had to get at a compounding pharmacy because it apparently isn't FDA approved yet. Has anyone been on this stuff?? Does it help? I am on 10 mgs 3 times daily. I would like some relief from this.
Avatar n tn With a diabetic and gastric problems you have to think about gastroparesis but could be a lot of different things. http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/gastroparesis/ Three months of nausea after eating is easily 87 days too many. Hope you feel better very soon.
329165 tn?1515471990 Hi everyone. I have had GERD for a long time. Barrets Esophagus and had a partial Nissen fundoplication in 2012 that has become undone and I now have severe GERD again, even on medication. My doctor has now prescribed Motillium as I have been diagnosed with Gastroparesis as well. I don’t want to gain weight on this medication and I am scared of the side effects. Have anyone here have had experience with this medication?
Avatar n tn Have you changed your diet to one that may help handle the way your stomach empties? If not, check out a gastroparesis diet. It may be of some help. You can find an example at www.gicare.com and on other places on the net. Do you have any history of diabetes? Gastroparesis can be tied in with that problem. It's also know to occur in some people with gallbladder issues and if someone is refluxing bile into the stomach in some cases.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your prompt response. And not really, my gastro doc hasn't said anything about dysautonomia, this is my own research. I am questioning why it started in my esophagus then now the stomach, almost like it's moving downward? Or maybe it's unrelated? The esophagus is due to GERD, the gastroparesis is idiopathic? I am going to Mayo in Rochester (live in Minny) on May 11th for further testing on the gastroparesis diagnosis.
Avatar m tn I am wondering at what point I should consider seeing my GI doctor for an endoscopy or other tests. I understand this is probably GERD, hiatal hernia, gastritis or gastroparesis. However, just yesterday, I found out a friend of mine is in the hospital with esophageal cancer, which set me back a bit, and which I would have to consider as another possibility for an elderly male. Any suggestions or ideas are appreciated.
Avatar m tn I was recently diagnosed with gastroparesis but there were no celiacs, which is good, but I was told that I could still have gluten intolerances and to go gluten free for several weeks to see how it goes. I am just baffled, was told all my life I just need to eat more fiber or take some supplements, well, apparently the Fibercon that I have been taking for 25 years is not a good thing, so I quit it and am trying to change my eating habits.
Avatar n tn I have learned that there can be many different symptoms in relation to this complication. In regards to people with diabetes, gastroparesis is related to diabetic autonomic neuropathy. While my son has never had the problem you have with low blood pressure your comment sent me back to review my research. I came across a website from the Mayo Clinic that speaks to the issue of low blood pressure and autonomic neuropathy. The website is http://www.mayoclinic.com/invoke.cfm?id=HO00169.
Avatar f tn Hi. I'm was newly diagnosed with gastroparesis. I am a diabetic type 'll. I also have stage 3 kidney disease. Up until recently I have had my diabetics in check. I can't get into Mayo until March but will make an appointment with a local GI Dr. What I am wondering is if anyone out there has heard of exposure to mold over a long period can cause this disease or symptoms like this?
