Avatar f tn It's called diabetic diarrhea and it is caused by neuropathy. Gastroparesis is another symptom of diabetic neuropathy.
484160 tn?1343397921 Then they took out her gallbladder on the 10th of this month. Now they are calling it diabetic stomach (gastroparesis). She has been throwing up uncontrollably off and on for 2 years. She went in on the 10th and they removed her gallbladder. She went home from that and was back in the hospital on the 14th or 15th. They kept her until last night, sent her home and she is headed back to the hospital this morning, still throwing up.
Avatar f tn I was recently diagnosed with gastroparesis after a gastric emptying study. At 90 minutes, I had emptied about 20%. What's unusual about my case is the suddenness of it all - one day i was fine, the next - BAM, pain, bloating, inability to eat a decent-sized meal. If I had been living with gastroparesis before that day, it was completely manageable.
Avatar f tn I'm Type 2 Diabetic and have other issues with my health, i have Gastroparesis, Barretts disease, IBS, Acid Reflux ( Gerd ) Stomach Hernia, and have had 9 Polyps taken from my Bowels ( non cancerous ). I know it's the diabetes thats killing the nerve endings in my stomach which has give me the gastroparesis but how do i control my sugars? i do my best but find it real hard.
Avatar f tn I did have a recent hospital visit where another EGD was preformed, and they found a hiatal hernia. I also showed mesenteric adenitis on a CT scan that was done. My GI is at wits end, and is now referring me to the Cleveland Clinic for further evaluation. I am just wondering if the severe C Diff I had caused gastroparesis, or having a cholecystectomy? I have had my appendix removed also. I am not diabetic, and have no thyroid conditons that would cause gastroparesis.
Avatar m tn I don't know how long I have had diabetes II, I started on pills maybe in 1996. There was no name like Gert or Gastroparesis. A Doctor shoved a pipe down my throat and looked at my ? What he said sounded like something like a "cut" in my esophagus that let acid come up into my esophagus. I learned over 2 years, anytime I ate Roast Beef or tomatoe Juice, that place would close up and keep water from going into my stomach, after a few minutes, it would open back up.
Avatar n tn You can access more information on the drug by going to www.zelnorm.com. i take it because i have diabetic gastroparesis, which is cause by damage to the autonomic nerves controlling the stomach and intestines. i have found it very helpful in restoring normal movement in the whole gastric system. i hope you also find it to be helpful. i haven't noticed any side effects though if you occasionally get diareah (sp?) it can make that worse.
Avatar n tn com This site has a forum. The president of the US based non-profit is a type I diabetic with gastroparesis. She has a lot of insight and suggestions regarding gastroparesis and its affect on diabetes.
Avatar n tn With a diabetic and gastric problems you have to think about gastroparesis but could be a lot of different things. http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/gastroparesis/ Three months of nausea after eating is easily 87 days too many. Hope you feel better very soon.
Avatar n tn I have learned that there can be many different symptoms in relation to this complication. In regards to people with diabetes, gastroparesis is related to diabetic autonomic neuropathy. While my son has never had the problem you have with low blood pressure your comment sent me back to review my research. I came across a website from the Mayo Clinic that speaks to the issue of low blood pressure and autonomic neuropathy. The website is http://www.mayoclinic.com/invoke.cfm?id=HO00169.
Avatar n tn My face turns red and appears shinny. I am diabetic and have checked my sugar and blood pressure numbers which are fine during these episodes. I have had so many tests and all have come back negative. The neurologist is thinking it may be nerve problems in the brain. My internist is thinking it is related related to diabetic neuropathy. I have never had this feeling before surgery. It is more of a sick feeling not just nausea. Hope someone can help!
Avatar f tn I see an endocrinologist for Graves Disease with hyperthyroidism and he sees a lot of diabetic patients with gastroparesis. He says that Reglan has a lot of side effects and has held off on the script. My gastroenterologist says reglan is the only drug for gastroparesis and gave me a script for it. I have been reluctant to take them though. I have not felt well for a very long time also.
Avatar m tn Did they call it diabetic gastroparesis? I suspect that's what his diagnosis is, and it's not something you should forget because without it, people are starting over if you want help. Diabetes can damage a digestive nerve and cause gastroparesis. I don't think there is anything that can help the nerve once it's damaged, but controlling blood sugar is important. You could see if probiotics or digestive enzymes help, but it may not.
Avatar n tn I also might have diabetic gastroparesis as well. I am just sick of being sick and sleeping all day and all night. Thanks for your interest. This is helpful.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed 2 years ago w/gastroparesis. I too was diagnosed as a diabetic when I was 6 years old. Im now 26. The road traveled down w/gastroparesis has not been an easy one. None of the meds have worked for me and I feel pretty ill most days. Not many people understand gastroparesis except for those going thru it also. I am now on social security disability because of it....I am just to ill with it.
Avatar f tn My husband is 25 years old and a type 2 diabetic. He vomits up almost everything he eats everyday for the past six months. He experiences no nausea and has not lost any weight. We’ve done gastric emptying which showed no gastroparesis and he had a endoscopy that did not find anything. Does anybody have a clue what could be going on?
Avatar n tn I too have gastroparesis and am not a diabetic. I also have no known cause for it, which is becoming more and more common for young people. Gastroparesis can come in several degrees of severity. I don't know how bad yours is, but mine is helped tremendously by a steady prescription of prilosec and an occassional pepto-bismo dose. I also eat at constant intervals. Every time my stomach starts to burn (which is on regular hourly intervals), I try to eat something small.
946915 tn?1271941032 Hi....I was recently diagnosised with Gastroparesis and IBS w/const. I underwent a procedure where they injected Botox into the base of my stomach. This seems to have helped some but I'm still suffering with the bloating and const. even though I take a Colace twice a day. Just thought I would see if there are others out there with this and what else I can try. Thanks...
Avatar m tn I have gastroparesis too, but I have non-diabetic gastroparesis so it is a little different for me. Is he on any medications to manage the gastroparesis (reglan, domperidone, erithromycin, etc.)? Is he eating a low-fiber, low-fat diet and eating multiple small meals every day? Is the problem that he can't get enough calories in because of nausea/vomitting or that he seems to be getting enough calories but he is still losing weight?
Avatar f tn I am also 24 and a female and was just diagnosed with gastroparesis and am getting ready to start Reglan. I have never heard of abdominal migranes or epilepsy. This is very interesting because all my labs and tests came back normal but I have been throwing up for 8 months and had my gallbladder removed already. I have extreme pain in my upper right quadrant and extreme nausea and vomitting. I am not diabetic so the doctors don't really know why this is happening. Any ideas?
