Came home the other day after being in a diabetic coma for 5 days,bg was 2,500.00 when brought into er,Now I notice I'm more sensitive to my novolog insulin,Is this normal?Also what is the highest bg have you heard of and a person survived with no severe damage?I just have a moderate loss in my motor skills.

My step sister is in ICU from a diabetic coma. When I found her, she was barely breathing, and she was probably in a coma about 5 hours before help arrived. Try 6 small meals a day with a protien and carb in small portions. I take ayprexa and I have lost 46 pounds and I am not diabetic I love my zyprexa and I am not going to give it up. I did gain weight at first on it but I have since lost the weight. It is possible to keep the weight off on zyprexa.

I have been to see pdoc today after having a bit of a wobble following 2 months off medication (did not go cold turkey, did it over 3 months). She has prescribed me Zyprexa but I am really scared about taking it, I really don't want to gain weight - I am still trying to lose the weight I gained on Depakote.

An MRI last Friday showed a number of small infartations on the right side of her brain stem and she has remained in a coma since Aug 15/13 (3 weeks). she is breathing completely on her own and she has not had any complications other than fever due to an infection. Help! My newly diagnosed roommate isn't eating to lose weight. She was diagosed in 11/07 and was told eating right would be very important in helping to regulate her insulin intake. I am on Neurontin and Celexa right now which is great but I can still feel myself going up and down all the time. Or even if I have to go back on Zyprexa has anyone NOT gained weight on it? People told me I would gain weigh on Celexa and I haven't.

My daughter is a type one diabetic and my half sister is a type 1 diabetic both diagnosed at age 7 my sister actually lost half her leg and almost died cause she went into a diabetic coma. Also have alot of family with type 2 diabetes. My recommendation is to try to keep each meal around 40-70 carbs but would deffinatly disucss with doc first.
