Avatar n tn The problem is that the anti-rejections drugs have side effects that some physicians say are worse than complications that Diabetes Mellutis (DM). In my opinion YES there will be a cure for type 1 diabetes!!
Avatar m tn The answer right now is no. Type 1 diabetics produce very little or no insulin on their own and we need insulin to live. But they are currently working on many different areas of research and treatment for diabetes and your daughter being only 6 months old I would have lots of hope that they will find something. If you read a little about diabetes history you will see how far it's come and how lucky we are to have diabetes now (if you can call it lucky) instead of 75 years ago.
Avatar n tn Of course, I am not a doctor, only a volunteer with Type I Diabetes, so my answer shouldn't replace the information you can get from your medical books. My understanding of Type I is that an autoimmune response may be the cause of Type I and I suppose if you have one autoimmune response, it may be possible to be at risk for other autoimmune responses to other parts of your body.
Avatar n tn If you are type 2, the diabetes can often be very well managed with low carb diet and exercise (read Dr. Richard Bernstein's "Diabetes Solutions"). However, if your pancreas is not working then insulin or meds are the way to go, in addition to diet and exercise management.

1644823 tn?1330059575 "It is curable with gastric bypass surgery." Gastric Bypass Surgery curing diabetes in obese people has been bouncing around since 2004. When people with gastric bypass regain their weight, and some of them do, their diabetes comes right back. The so-called curable part is with OBESE people having 35 to >40 BMI, their diabetes being mainly caused by their obesity. GBS does not guaranty diabetes reversal nor can it be considered a cure.
1300526 tn?1275775221 When I say this to my doctor he just says make sure all of the food you eat is good food, sure I did that and for a long time I waited for my pains to get less and it never did happen, possibly because I had neuropathy years before I was diagnosed with diabetes, so who even knows if it is diabetes that caused it but I am sure it is not helping it any, I worked on heavy machines out in cold weather in steal toed rubber boots for 11 years on a midnight shift and I am hearing now that this kind o
Avatar n tn Use your search engine to look for diabetes nutrition and recipes. There is NO cure for diabetes as of today. There is NO miracle cure, NO herbal cure, only false promises in order to take your hard earned money. There is control as I stated above. You couldn't pay me enough money to ingest medicine or herbs from China. Who knows what you taking, where or how it was made and what it do yo your body in the long run.
Avatar n tn Hi Mary, I have been Married for 18 years, I have 5 children, and have had Type 1 diabetes since 9 years of age. I am 37. I have no complications to date. I live a life of balance. Diabetes is managable, and even more so if you are in a loving supportive relationship. Do your parents have any other reason to dislike this fellow? Because diabetes is not a resaon to break up with him. Good luck!
Avatar m tn Dear Forum, My son aged 5 years 8 months has been diagonised by Type 1 diabetes with ketoacidosis. He was admitted to ICU and currently has been discharged. He is on insulin(Humalog mix). Is there any long term cure? Can he lead a normal life.
Avatar m tn I am a Type II diabetic. I will always be a Type II diabetic. But I control it entirely by diet only. I've been eating Paleo for 5 years now. My semi-annually A1C's average around 5.8. The idea is to avoid anything containing carbohydrates. Now, that's pretty hard to do, but with a little effort, you can minimize them. My diet is rich in eggs, cheese, meats, and nuts, Pounds and pounds of nuts; peanuts, walnuts, pecans, and almonds. I estimate that I easily consume 50 lbs.
Avatar f tn My daughter was diagnosised with Type 1 Diabetes Aug 2008. We have learned how to inject insulin and check her blood sugar numbers. We keep her on a pretty strick diet to ensure that we keep her Blood Sugar Numbers between 80-180. The past two days she has been very low. We have tried to make sure that the insulin that we give her is only enough to cover the food that she has eaten. However, just today, she woke up with her blood sugar #s at 64. She ate about 32 carbs for breakfast.
Avatar n tn This problem is the main cause of type 2 diabetes, which is not an auto-immune disease like type 1 diabetes. In type 1 diabetes, insulin-resistance is rarely a problem, but you could discuss this with your doctor and have him or her better explain why the tests that have been run on your daughter indicate type 1 instead of type 2 diabetes.
Avatar n tn I am not a physican, but the mom of a type one diabetic. I wish i could believe this i read the advertisement ,for the cure - i wish it was that simple. To me it looks some one wants to get rich off our hope for a cure for this diease.
Avatar m tn I heard that some doctors in England put people with diabetes on a 600 calorie a day diet for 8 weeks and when the diet was over the majority of them no longer had diabetes. Why don't we do this here in America?
8369322 tn?1397830269 Keep it simple. Cure for type 2 diabetes is Eat less, exercise more. Watch the scale and eat healthy whole foods.

894177 tn?1241482154 i enjoy it. it doesnt hurt people around me. definantly doesnt hurt me. when i found out i had diabetes i lost over 20 pounds of muscle and fat, i was more fatigued, and drinking water like it was going to be the last water i ever tasted. when checked at my doc, the glucose meter couldnt even read my sugar. it was to high. my A1C was 15.7%. im not lying i have the medical papers to prove it. while all this i thought to myself i HAVE to quit smoking if not it might do worse. so i didnt care.

Avatar n tn I have had type 1 diabetes for 32 years, no complications. I do however seem to have trouble with memory. I forget a lot and I am not sure why. I do not smoke or do drugs, and I am relatively healthy. I believe more studies need to be done. I can drastically tell a difference in my memory and cognitive processing skills. I am 34 and I am not as sharp as I was in my 20's by a great deal!
Avatar n tn I have often wondered what Hep C treatment would be like combined with Type 1 diabetes. Why? Because I am in Hep C treatment and my teenaged daughter, brother in law and sister in law all have Type 1. I do not have diabetes. My first point is that if you were a patient of my own hepatologist, you would likely be encouraged to defer treatment. This is because your biopsy sounds very good, and your genotype is not 1.
Avatar n tn yeah im a type1 dibetic iv tryed the hemp oil since this saturday and its done wunders for my sugar levels.
1304588 tn?1299075071 I have been doing all sorts of research and some sites say that "yes losing weight cures type 2 diabetes" and others that say " it will not cure it, if the person weight comes back so will the diabetes". i just dont know what to think. I have type 2 for almost a year now and the meds that they gave me made me so sick that i had to stop taking them. so now im off the meds and i deiced that i needed to lose the weight.
Avatar n tn Well two months later she was back in the hospital with type 1 diabetes. So please don't think that chemotherapy is a cure, it can cause it! I know that my daughter has this disese because my father had it and that if she would have never gotten Leukemia that she would more than likely have gotten Diabetes later down the road, maybe at 8 to 10 years of age.
