Common Questions and Answers about Diabetes type 2 in teenagers

diabetes

Avatar f tn Type 1 diabetes is generally diagnosed in children, teenagers, or young adults. People can develop type 2 diabetes at any age, even during childhood.
Avatar n tn Some people are able to control Type 2 diabetes with losing and maintaining healthy weight, lowering carb intake and regular exercise. Some are not, and need medication. It is impossible to answer your question because every diabetic is different and it would depend on how high your numbers were to begin with and what you ate and did. Serious consequences (complications) from diabetes don't occur in 24 hours, they occur over time spent at high numbers.
Avatar n tn I am not a physician, but a mom of a type one and the daughter of a type 2. In a type one diabetic commonly called Juvenile diabetes( because it usually is diagnoses in children , but I know people that were in they 30's and 40's and were diagnosed) is when the body stop s producing insulin. Type 2 diabetics your body still produces insulin, but cannot use it properly use the insulin without help of medication.

7791326 tn?1396488062 I was diagnosed with type 2 a few years later and then in 2008 had a miscarriage at about 10 weeks. I got pregnant and gave birth to a healthy baby boy in 2011, but not without having trouble controlling my sugar. I suffer from food addiction which is part of the trouble. Last October I had a miscarriage again at only 5 weeks. I am now 6week 1day and am terrified of a miscarriage. I just have such a difficult time controlling my food/Carb intake and therefore my sugars.

Avatar n tn a 68 year old person with type 2 diabetes has pneumonia. she is lethargic with a headache. blood pressure 104/72. heart rate 118/min. respirations 30/min. flushed and feels warm and dry. urine output is over 800ml in the morning. glucose is 310 mg/dl. what is happening with this woman??
Avatar n tn t know how you are currently treating your diabetes, but when blood sugars are extremely elevated for long periods of time in Type 2 diabetics, insulin injections may be recommended to help lower the blood sugars. I know how scary injections can be to a Type 2, but if that is what your doctor ultimately recommends, I promise you that it will be better than how you are probably feeling now and certainly beter than having some of the complications that can occur from prolonged high blood sugars.
