Avatar f tn The possibility of cancer with unexplained weight loss is always there. However if there is a weight loss and thyroid and diabetes status is fine and the weight loss due to metformin has been attained, then this should be looked into. Also if you have not noticed a further weight loss it may not be there. Keep a record and see. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar f tn Yes, zoela is right. Type 1.5 is often discovered when patients don't respond to oral meds, and/or the diabetes progresses very quickly. Type 1.5 is autoimmune and may occur in thin people. losing weight doesn't help much or for very long. Type 1.5 is usually treated with insulin fairly early in the course. Here's some more information:- Type 1.5 Diabetes aka Slow Onset Type 1 and LADA Type 1.

Remember, conquering this condition is more of a marathon than a sprint. Good luck and keep us informed!
Avatar f tn The symptoms are quickly relieved once the diabetes is treated and under control. In Type 2 diabetes the signs and symptoms may not be so obvious, as the condition develops slowly over a period of years and may only be picked up in a routine medical check up. Symptoms are quickly relieved once diabetes is treated and under control.
Avatar n tn Although there's no cure for type 2 diabetes, studies show it's possible for some people to reverse it. Through diet changes and weight loss, you may be able to reach and hold normal blood sugar levels without medication. This doesn't mean you're completely cured. Type 2 diabetes is an ongoing disease.
Avatar m tn if so you could have celiac disease , which is wheat gluten intolerance, or chrons disease, colitis. Other things that could be causing loss of weight are diabetes so you could get your fasting blood sugar checked, HIV, depression, and TB. and 7 pounds is a lot but not that much. I would get it checked. Do you have pain anywhere in the body? I would see a doctor.

I'm taking metformin twice a day (750 mg).
Avatar f tn weight loss and increased physical activity is directly related to improved diabetes control. Avatar n tn Some people are able to control Type 2 diabetes with losing and maintaining healthy weight, lowering carb intake and regular exercise. Some are not, and need medication. It is impossible to answer your question because every diabetic is different and it would depend on how high your numbers were to begin with and what you ate and did. Serious consequences (complications) from diabetes don't occur in 24 hours, they occur over time spent at high numbers.
192055 tn?1263555537 s) had unexplained weight loss and he was diagnosed with diabetes. Is there any family history of diabetes? Or, do you think you could be depressed? Sometimes that affects your appetite and you feel tired even after a good night's sleep. You shouldn't let this go. Contact a doctor for a full physical and blood work. Tell him or her all of your symptoms. Take in a list so you don't forget something. It may be something simple but at least you'll put your mind at ease.
Avatar m tn I went to a gastroenterologist who diagnosed me with SIBO at i was having classical symptoms, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, bloating and weight loss. I was given antibiotics and some of the symptoms went away. I just had a colonoscopy and they found a polyp (which was removed) and inflammation in my colon. Nothing else was discussed other than to make a follow up appointment in two weeks to talk about the results in more details.

Avatar f tn I just knew that something was desperately wrong and so I kept researching, and by the time I discovered EPI and the fact that every one of her symptoms pointed to it, too much damage had been done to her internal organs to be able to save her. If EPI is diagnosed in your dog, there are supplementary enzymes that can be given to allow her to live a fairly normal life.
