Common Questions and Answers about Diabetes symptoms of disease

diabetes

Avatar f tn My problem started since I was 6, it began with an extreme fear of diabetes. Whenever i heard the word diabetes, I start to panic and have trouble breathing, my stomach hurts, get diarrhea and then start to feel the actual symptoms of the disease. In fact, I stopped sleeping on my left side because i am scared that would damage my pancreas. Moreover, if i touch a paper that has the word diabetes written on, I always wash my hands so as not to contract diabetes.
Avatar f tn What are the symptoms of Type 1 Diabetes? I have a child who is extremely tired and thirsty all the time. Should I have him checked for diabetes?
Avatar f tn Weight has nothing to do with, if your diabetic or not. As for you Hgb(iron count), 20 is way too high. Normal range of Hgb for women: 13-16mg/dl. I donĀ“t know what type of physician your seeing, but you do have some diabetic symptoms and this "physician" is not capable of observing symptoms nor does he have medical criteria. Recomendation: Buy a personal blood glucose unit and monitor your results.
48668 tn?1201543083 Do you know what the relationship is of Krone disease to Type 1 diabetes? Is there a high correlation of the 2 diseases? Lately I have met several other families that the child has both diseases, is this somehting I should have my child checked for?
Avatar m tn People who have celiac disease cannot tolerate gluten. Symptoms of celiac disease vary from person to person. Symptoms may occur in the digestive system or in other parts of the body. They include diarrhea which is pale, voluminous and malodorous. Abdominal pain and cramping, bloatedness with abdominal distention (thought to be due to fermentative production of bowel gas) and mouth ulcers may also be present.
Avatar f tn The disease more than doubles the incidence of heart disease and greatly increases the risk of stroke, blindness, kidney disease and neuropathy. Type II diabetes can be prevented and controlled with a sensible approach to diet. Since the proliferation of processed and refined foods in the American diet over the past half century and the introduction of high fructose corn syrup in the early 1970`s, diabetes cases have skyrocketed in a parallel fashion during this time.
85962 tn?1329981090 I agree with what the two posters above said. In addition I found it strange that with a fasting blood sugar of 150 you were told you were "borderline diabetes" (the correct term is pre-diabetic). Anything over 126 fasting is considered diabetes. You definitely need more testing. Keep up the good work on the weight control. Some people can control diabetes for awhile with just diet and exercise and weight management, but it is a progressive disease and you may need more help.
Avatar n tn It sounds like this may be a good time for you to have a complete physical to rule out any other medical issues. Of all of your symptoms, thirst and urination would be the most obvious concerns. Some of the other symptoms could be related, but not necessarily, although I have heard that hypoglycemia (low Blood sugar) is sometimes a precursor to Type I diabetes.
Avatar f tn Can you tell me if you had most of the symptoms of diabetes when you were diagnosed? Or, did you not have noticeable symptoms, and found out through an exam? What made you suspect you had diabetes?
Avatar n tn My only thought is diabetes may raise the risk of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. A Google search on diabetes and liver disease or asking your doctor for more information may prove worthwhile.
Avatar m tn I'm male, and was diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis about 5 years ago, but felt the symptoms for years prior. I'm on a daily regimen of Synthroid. While researching ways to manage this condition, I found various websites linking Hashimoto's and Type I diabetes together. This has me somewhat freaking out! It seems like people who develop Type I diabetes can also complicate to Hashimoto's, but I haven't seen any reading about the other way around.

Avatar n tn Frequent urination, insatiable thirst and hunger, unexplained weight loss, vision changes, etc are all common symptoms of diabetes. Shaky hands is sometimes a symptom of low blood sugar that affect diabetics from time to time. Similarly, shaky hands can occur in folks who have an unrelated condition called hypoglycemia, in folks with a neurological condition, or in folks who are quite stressed physically or emotionally.
Avatar f tn I had a loss of appetite for several weeks until I was diagnosed with gallbladder disease and it was removed. But the first time these symptoms happened I had just ate 15 mins prior. 2nd time it happened was when I got out of bed for work. I ate and seemed to feel better. 3rd time, I had ate breakfast at 7:30 a.m. symptoms started to happen around 11:30 a.m. again, ate and felt a little better, didn't get full relief. Diabetes runs on my fathers side of the family.
723573 tn?1230853387 Hi! I'm 15 years old - Im experiencing some of the same symptoms of diabetes (Ex. Avatar n tn t good for me but I am in constant pain so I take enough to knock it out of me for a few hours. My doctor said that this may be causing some of the incontinence. Anyways...She did a urinalysis and some blood work to check me for lupus and diabetes and all came back normal except the urinalysis. It showed microscopic blood. She put me on antibiotics and gave me enablex and detrol (neither which have worked). I went back in for a recheck and the repeat urinalysis was exactly the same as before.
Avatar n tn Hello. Your symptoms are a bit different from those of Alzheimer's disease. It seems that you may be having episodes of low blood pressure or hypoglycemia. During such episodes, the brain receives less blood, oxygen and glucose, leading to symptoms experienced by you. You can consult a family physician; get a full system check up, routine blood work, blood pressure monitoring and blood sugar levels. Do not worry too much about Alzheimer's disease.
Avatar n tn I was wondering what is causing this and if they could possibly be symptoms of diabetes. I also have a red sore mark on my left arm. It started off as flaky and peeled off, now it has sortof a ring look with a white spot in the middle. Could this possibly be related to my other symptoms? Other symptoms include tiredness and blurred vision, burning eyes. If someone could help it would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn I have been tested for numerous things, but every thing comes back normal. Addisons, diabetes, diabetes insipidous. My regular doctor thinks i have some absorbtion problem, and my GI dcotor thinks i have diabetes. Still doing tests with the GI doctor and more tests with a urologist (constant urination). By the way, for all the salt i eat, my sodium level is okay (end of low range) and surprisingly enough i do not retain water. Can the salty foods and meat cravings be causing all of this?
Avatar n tn I am going for a blood test this week becuase my GP thinks that some sypmtoms that i have are not related to the crohns, but may be symptoms of Diabetes and would like to check it out. I stumbled upon this article in googling diabetes and crohns. It seems that they have found a gene that link the 2 together. I too have a history of Diabetes in my family. Here is the link http://www.admin.cam.ac.uk/news/dp/2007060701 I just started looking into this. If i find out more, i will come back.
502219 tn?1311357910 some of the symptoms you describe could be related to hypoglycemia; I agree that you cannot ascribe them to NASH-related liver disease.
