I'm guessing that s/he is not a diabetes specialist and that's the type of physician who should be guiding your diabetes care. Specialists might be called endocrinologist or diabetologist. None of us here is a physician, but we're long-time diabetics or care-givers for diabetic children. You didn't mention if you've been diagnosed with Type 1 or Type 2, and the treatment options vary for these types.
Avatar f tn It is a disorder of the nerves which causes numbness, tingling, unusual sensations and sometimes pain. Diabetes Mellitus can cause neuropathy. Other causes like vitamin deficiencies, alcohol consumption and certain medications can cause neuropathy. You may need to consult your primary care physician to detect the cause. Regards.

Avatar f tn Yes, I have latex allergy, too. Thank you for the info about the insulin resistance. That's still a possibility for me as diabetes also runs in the family. My cushings-like symptoms have been around for a decade or two, (only started realizing I wasn't "just fat" in September or so) and I'm tested every year for blood sugar and diabetes due to my family history. It didn't show much elevation until this year along with all the autoimmune conditions.
Avatar n tn It could be due to postural hypotension, were in upon standing blood pooling occurs in the legs and the brain is deprived of adequate blood supply and oxygenation. This is more common in the elderly and in people with diabetes mellitus. Inadequate sleep can also cause tiredness, fatigue and dizziness. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

It could also be due to nerve compression very high up in the cervical vertebra. Excess alcohol intake, partial seizures and low calcium levels all cause head and tongue tingling. Wisdom tooth is another cause. It could also be due to allergy to some food item.

You may not have been actually diagnosed as insulin resistant yet, but elevated sugar levels do affect memory. Increase magnesium in the diet. Do not take magnesium supplements if you have kidney or heart problems. Spasm of accommodation could cause those symptoms but its very very rare. Both diabetes mellitus and diabetes insipidus fall into this realm but both are separate mechanisms. This forum deals mostly with type 2 diabetes, people who have high blood sugar levels [mellitus]. Some people with severe acidity too develop a habit of drinking water to counteract the effect of acidity In your case, probably chronic diarrhea has precipitated increased thirst. Chronic diarrhea can be due to parasitic infestations.

And the list of magnesium deficiency symptoms below is not in the least a complete list in the least (I know as I had severe magnesium deficiency from combined insulin resistance/impaired glucose tolerance, high doses of vitamin D and surgery). To reverse my insulin resistance I removed all refined sugar from my diet (I don't eat a lot of carbs otherwise).
