Avatar f tn Hello. I go through sort of the same struggle you do. I lost a ton of weight following the "Low GI" diet. Its Low Glycemic Index. The diet itself shouldn't really be called a diet because its really just all of the foods you should be eating anyway...but who am I to say that? The Low GI diet is great for people trying to stay away from getting Diabetes, and for people who have Diabetes. Google the diet to pull up all the foods.
Avatar f tn At your weight you are at great risk of heart attack, arthritis, diabetes mellitus, atherosclerosis and cancer. Consider a strict diet plan and fitness regime. Cut down on fats. Restrict intake of pastas, burgers, sweets, cold drinks. Drink plenty of water daily. Consult a doctor and plan for weight loss as soon as possible. I hope it helps. Best of luck and regards!
Avatar m tn You should be shooting for a diet that keeps your sugar below 140. Goal two would be to loose weight if you are not in your target range of weight. A LCHF diet can help with both. All sodas should be cut out. White flour, potatoes, white rice, sugar should also be cut out. If you have to have some sweeter, try KAL Stevia. It's the closest thing to real sugar I've found. In Brazil they actual use Stevia to help people control blood sugar.
Avatar f tn If you really wanted to, you could be on an all ice cream diet and lose weight as long as you're eating less than you burn everyday. Of course i dont recomend that. Eating meats and vegies fill you up quickly and are full of vitamins. As long as you aren't eating a bunch of crap, you're all set! Yogurts, sandwhiches, lean meat, vegetables. All of it is good, and don't be afraid to eat carbs, just make sure you know how MUCH you're eating. Use this app to your advantage!
Avatar f tn Also, if you have any medical problems that can cause weight gain such as polycystic ovary, diabetes or thyroid issue then this will need to be corrected and treated. Please consult a doctor to help you lose weight properly. You will then be able to maintain the new weight as the process through which weight loss will be carried out will be scientific and inculcated and imbibed in your daily routine. Take care!

Avatar f tn While I haven't been able to lose the weight I'd like to lose, I've managed to get my blood sugar levels back under control and am working on the weight issue. Exercise is very important, as well, since it, too, will help lower blood sugar levels.

Avatar f tn However, not helping kitty lose at least a few pounds can lead to complications. Hildiekatt developed diabetes. Chesapeake developed congestive heart failure. These are the 2 girls we lost this year, though Hildie succumbed to lymphoma, after she had gone into remission from the diabetes.
Monkey My thought is I have recently been diagnosed with pre-diabetes so if carbs cause diabetes shouldn't a low carb diet help my pre-diabetes not go into full fledged diabetes ?
Avatar f tn it is inadvisable to cut them out of a healthful diet for diabetics. Does anyone have a proven weight-loss diet for diabetics?
Avatar n tn The doctor said her glucose level was 13 from the normal level 6. Can her diabetes be cured wth diet, exercise or is it too high to get rid of through a changed diet and exercise?
1644823 tn?1330059575 Gastric Bypass Surgery curing diabetes in obese people has been bouncing around since 2004. When people with gastric bypass regain their weight, and some of them do, their diabetes comes right back. The so-called curable part is with OBESE people having 35 to >40 BMI, their diabetes being mainly caused by their obesity. GBS does not guaranty diabetes reversal nor can it be considered a cure. That is why GBS does not apply to people like yourself or anyone with a normal BMI of 21.5.
Business man2 Watch your diet closely, especially your intake of carbohydrates. If you have been put on meds, take them. Exercise every day and lose weight by watching caloric intake. You can bring your condition under control but there is no "cure" and you are not going to "recover" from diabetes. Once you have been diagnosed, you are a diabetic for life. But you can keep the worst symptoms and the terrible complications from hitting you by taking care of your body.
Avatar n tn I am not a physician, but a volunteer and the mom of a type 1 diabetic. I understand your frustration. We felt the same way when our daughter was on shots. She was on NPH and Humolog. We gave since switched to the pump 3 years ago.
Avatar f tn Hi there! It may be a bit difficult to lose weight with hypothyroidism and diabetes but not impossible. Avatar n tn All my life I have struggled with my weight. I've tried to achieve a healthy weight but no matter what I've tried I never seem to get there. I want to become a bodybuilder and have started training hard. although I hav put on some muscle I have put more fat on. I am extremely frustrated as my diet consists of protein 1st cereal (low GI cereal), and skim milk, protein shakes(low carbs), brown rice and green veges. This is about as strict as it will get. Ive gained weight on this regiem.
Avatar f tn I have been seeing a nutrionist and she put me on a 1100 calorie diet. Its a struggle because I have diabetes and my sugars are always dropping, which in order to get them up I have to eat something consuming all my day calories. I also do not know what to do and how to accomplish my ideal weight loss. But I'm not going to give up and I going to continue. So stay strong and positive and don't give up, you will get there.
Avatar m tn Firstly, did you breast feed and if so are you still doing so? Breast feeding usually speeds up weight loss and requires a good balanced diet with carbs as well. Maybe try reducing the fruit intake and increase servings of protein..eg fish, tuna, lean steak. Are you skipping breakfast? If so, don't. Drink plenty of water. Increase the number of times you eat to 6x per day to increase your metabolism and if necessary reduce the amount, though I doubt this is necessary.
1222076 tn?1423031349 Hi Curly03 Diet stuff doesn't work very well not for permanent weight loss. Even if you lose some weight using these products, once you go off them, I've heard you usually gain the weight back. I'm sure you're aware of this, but it's a good idea to tell your doctor you want to go on a diet and ask your doctor what he/she thinks about that. With atleast 30 pounds to lose, you'll probably want to ask your doctor for a referral to a dietician. You say you have no idea how to eat healthy.
7628588 tn?1392766751 Hello, there is no miracle way to lose weight - it is aways hard work. Adopt low carb diet (read up on Paleo, as this is one option, though there are others, along with portion control. Avoid sweetened and junk foods. Exercise daily, at least 30 minutes, maybe more if you can. Get enough sleep. Using a food and activity diary can be helpful to monitor what you do and how you progress. Also getting a friend to do it with you may help.
