Avatar n tn I was recently diagnosed with Hep C and now my doctor is telling me I have gestational diabetes. Is this because of the HCV? Do I even have gestational diabetes? Or does it just seem like I have it? Please help me.
Avatar f tn I went to the My Dr. appt. Today And they Gave me my Glucose Tolarence Test Results, and it looks like I Have Gestational Diabetes (GD). It's Been Very Hard To Keep A Great Diet In This pregnancy. Does anyone else have GD and are having a Hard Time with this? I'm 27 weeks. With My last pregnancy I did so good didn't gain any weight, and with this pregnancy I've already gained almost 20lbs.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know how gestational diabetes effects the baby ? Im 28 weeks and my son is already a pound over weight ... and dr said he will most likely be early.
Avatar f tn just a word of advice it is important to take care of yourself while having the gestational diabetes because if you don't your baby can put on a lot of weight and you will have to start taking shots. Ya you can eat junk food every once in a great while but don't try to make it a regular thing even if your craving it. I know a few people who didn't care what the diettion said and they had a 12 pound baby.
183933 tn?1290216962 She usually does get gestational diabetes when she is nearing the end of her second trimester. She is now 7 1/2 weeks pregnant and is already getting diabetes. It started around 5 1/2 weeks. Around that time she tested her blood sugar levels at home and her numbers were around 280. I know for about a week they were pretty high, centering around that number. Now she is 7 1/2 weeks along and her numbers are around 125. That is all controlled from her diet.
Avatar f tn There is high risk for the baby if u go past 40weeks. I can't remember the exact issues that happen. Bit I do remember rachyrou talking about it. For you babies sake they induce.
5609181 tn?1375332372 My doctor just called to tell me that I have gestational diabetes... I didn't really get a chance to ask questions and stuff because I just started crying and she said we could talk about it more at my next appointment in a few days. So can anyone tell me more about it please? I feel like such a failure to my baby...
Avatar f tn I'm very healthy and have no diabetes at all in my family and I was diagnosed with GD. Gestational diabetes doesn't have anything to do with how you eat (mostly). The reason women only have GD during pregnancy is because the placenta can't produce sugars properly so once we give birth and get rid of the placenta most women don't continue to have. If you do happen to get GD most women can control it with a cleaner diet and don't need insulin.
Avatar f tn So today I got tested for gestational diabetes(which was hell) and my blood sugar was 160 and it should be under 140 and I am so scared... Im only 12 weeks pregnant...
Avatar f tn I have gestational diabetes and was put on a diet and also insulin. Doctor didn't want me taking pills to control it. I check my levels 4 times a day and take insulin 4 times a day. They are small dosage but it helps the baby maintain her levels. She is measuring slightly bigger than her age. Best part is I see her often with ultrasounds. All in all nothing to be afraid about. We as mothers will do what we have to do to take care of our bodies for our unborn. Hope this helps.
4322328 tn?1353998038 who has gestational diabetes like me? im 30weeks. can you give me some advice on what to eat that will not shoot up my sugar.
Avatar f tn s not too late to take the test, but you want to do it asap ... That way if you have it, you can get it taken care of. By the way, there are no symptoms of gestational diabetes, so you won't know till you test. You can be 100% healthy looking and 100% healthy/normal feeling and still be diagnosed with it.
Avatar f tn Just got diagnosed with gestational diabetes this afternoon. Any helpful hints or suggestions?
11754186 tn?1422644986 To have gestational diabetes it has to be at least 130 or 140
Avatar f tn hi i just got diagnosed with gestational diabetes and am 29wks today. I wondered if others have it and how it is impacting your pregnancy?
Avatar f tn I had gestational diabetes with my first and Dr's seem to think I had it before I got pregnant with my second. I have been checking my sugars since about 12 weeks 4 times a day and am now 27 weeks and haven't gained weight due to altering my eating habits. They gave me my glucose test sooner just to be sure and it came back positive. As long as you take care of yourself and eat healthy you should be ok if you come back positive for your test.
Avatar f tn I found out today that I have developed gestational diabetes :( My doctor is sending me to a counselor to see if we can keep my glucose under control through diet and lifestyle changes. She will also be prescribing a glucose monitor and wants me to do finger sticks before meals as well as after (I can't recall if she said 1 or 2 hours after meals). I will now see her every 1-2 weeks. I am hoping to be able to control this without insulin or medication.
5549102 tn?1376522673 What week does the gestational diabetes test take place? I don't remember. I'm not looking forward to it either. I haven't been to the doctor in 9 weeks I'm already scared I'm going to be fussed at, but I have a legitimate reason. I haven't had the money for the appointments every time I've scheduled them. Something always seems to come up. I feel my little man kicking around everyday and I did have an ultrasound so I know he's okay.
Avatar f tn I'm 33 weeks and I had my first consultation today after being diagnosed with gestational diabetes. I haven't had the best time emotionally with this pregnancy (been feeling down due to stretch marks, fatigue, acne prone skin, lots of pains, etc..) but I'm determined to make the best of this situation not only for me but for my baby. I'm totally fine with having to take my blood sugar 6 times a day but I'm so thrown off by this diet.
1088509 tn?1352236247 the baby measuring big doesnt necessarily mean gestational diabetes... it could be but not always... babys grow at their own pace, some bigger some smaller... theyll probably take blood nd test yu fur it if they havent already... my aunt had it wen she was pregnant nd it went away after she had my cusin! nd he was born fine...
Avatar n tn Hi Queenann, Breathe deeply and relax-- you and your baby should be fine if you get serious about taking care of yourself. You don't say what 'full-blown' means-- is it gestational diabetes, or true type-1? I will presume it's gestational. I have had a few close friends who had gestational diabetes; they followed the recommended diet, took care of themselves, and they and their babies were fine-- and the diabetes never returned.
Avatar f tn Just found out I have gestational diabetes I'm 29 weeks and terrified has anyone had it at this stage and did you have a healthy full term baby?
10858973 tn?1416663532 Well ladies, i had an early one hour check because in my past pregnancies I've always been borderline and i frequently have sugar traces in my urine. About a week ago, i got a call saying that i had failed my test horribly with a glucose reading of 173. last saturday i went in to do my 3 hour glucose tolerance test, however, 45 minutes into the test i vomited all the glucola i had drank which meant they could no longer perform the test.
Avatar f tn Elevated blood glucose levels are indicative of gestational diabetes, although no one seems to know exactly what causes it. Hormones in the placenta can block the action of the mother's insulin in her body; insulin resistance makes it hard for the mother's body to use insulin, and without enough insulin glucose is turned into energy because it can't leave the body. A high level of blood glucose, called hyperglycemia, requires the baby to work harder.
Avatar f tn Hello ladies. I'm 28 weeks pregnant and was just diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Hearing the news devastated me. This is my first pregnancy and I know it may sound cliché but I prayed for a normal pregnancy. So now I'm worried because I know if the diabetes gets out of control it can lead to insulin shots and can effect the baby. Have any of you ladies gone through this? Or are currently dealing with this? How are you copping?
2216055 tn?1349382305 I just found out this am that I have gestational diabetes and I feel like I just lost my best friend. I don't know what to do. My midwife told me that I'm going to have to start seeing a high risk dr and that more than likely ill have to start pricking myself to test my blood sugar. I just feel so sad now. And I feel sad for my baby. I don't want to put her in danger of anything.
