Sooo apparently I failed my 3 hour fasting test for gestational diabetes. However I have been checking my blood sugar for the past couple days twice a day and my sugar has not been high at all. Pretty good actually. I eat the right things and exercise and I hardly touch things that's really high in sugar. I wonder if this is just a glitch ? They want me to take this class and buy this glucometer and test strips thats over 100 dollars but I honestly dnt think I need them.

HI 48 year old male, 5 feet 8 inches. 164 lbs. Recently had blood test , Blood sugar came back 128m/dl. Doctor has not recommended any medicines . He suggested to exercise and control the diet. Day before the test had a pasta lunch with cola and small pasta fried fish dinner with 2 drinks(alcoholic). dinner complete at 9.00pm. Also had a antidepressant for sleep. Went the next morning for test around 8.am. Is it possible for my test to be wrong given the previous days gluttony.
They usually do a two blood test test for the diagnosis. This is a fasting blood sugar test from a predetermined time in the evening the night before the test, then they give you a drink with as many calories in it as in the average meal then check the blood sugar two hours later to see if the body is doing it's job. Hi I am 49 years old, when I exercise I get low blood sugar, I dont have diabetes, but want to know what is the chance of developing it, it usually comes on after about ten minutes of exercise and gives me slightly distorted vision, within a minute or so of stopping exercise it goes back to normal, I would be grateful for any answers, thanks.
Your morning glucose levels indicate type 2 diabetes. Try not to eat starchy foods or foods loaded with carbohydrates at night. They turn into sugar after digestion. And no late snacking. The "throughout the day" has no meaning unless they were 2-3 hours after a meal. The sometimes of "192, 263" are high and entering the dangerously high zone.
The times to test are mornings before breakfast, before each lunch and dinner meals and 2-3 hours after each meal.
Anyone else going to refuse the glucose test during the 24-28 weeks? I had it with my first little girl without a lot of information and I've never had issues with blood sugar. My levels have always been normal at 50-80. They gave me the test over 24 hours of not eating with the first and, of course, my blood sugar was high by one point. My daughter and myself never had issues after birth and I've eaten only healthy foods with this pregnancy.
Is it possible to have diabetes without having high blood sugar? I've never had a glucose level over 90 on any blood test. I've had to have labs done several times throughout the last couple of years. It's usually 70-80. Once 90. Never anything else. I have to go in tomorrow for testing because my urine has had a strange odor. I don't want to say it's sweet but it's kinda similar. Just reporting that with eating lower carb foods and testing my blood sugar to see which foods I need to avoid, my A1c has gone from 5.9 to 5.6. I feel that testing myself has really helped to determine which foods I should eliminate or drastically cut back on, such as pasta, which raised my blood sugar to 170 and kept it high for a few hours. I've totally eliminated pasta from my diet as well as white potatoes and my A1c has improved.

Highly recommend that you get a home testing blood glucose meter so you can see what your blood sugar is doing and also how it is responding to what you eat. You may need to change your diet to reduce your blood sugar.
It is usual to have such an initial reaction to metformin. Suggest you start off with just 1/2 or 1/4 tablet per day and then slowly increase to the recommended dose based on the resolution of your symptoms.
