Avatar f tn do you know the recommended daily dosage? Is it better to take mutivitamin or folic acid tablet alone? which brand is better?
Avatar f tn How many iu is ur supplement? My Dr recommended 1000iu but I've been reading that I should be taking more. I'm also starting to think that my son is also Vitamin D deficient and perhaps I should give him Vitamin D supplement as well, but I'm going to request a blood test from his pediatrician first, but I'm almost positive that he is since I am. I'm a little worried about the long term effects of being vitamin D deficient.
Avatar f tn So i visited a friend today and she looked at my prenatal vitamins that i had with me and was surprised they didn't have dha in them. She gave me some dha vitamins and recommended that i take them and continue to do so. My dr didn't mention dha. Am i alone in this?
Avatar f tn I would stay within the recommended daily dosage of (400 mcg or 0.4mg) to (1000mcg or 1mg) of folic acid. There are many additives in OTC vitamins/supplements, check with your pharmacist to see the contents.
Avatar n tn why is the daily dosage of Mega-Red just one capsule per day (and Trader Joe's and CVS's version) but the dosage for ResQ1250 is 4-6 capsules per day for a capsule that has a much higher concentration of EPA and DHA?
1150573 tn?1261964987 Once you become pregnant, your OB will give you a prescription for a prenatal vitamin that has the recommended dosage of floc acid. When I was TTC with both my children I took a good over the counter prenatal. Then once I became pregnant, I took a prescription prenatal which contained DHA. Best wishes to you!
Avatar m tn I am with baby _ nature made + dha. Never made me sick either.
668044 tn?1225913014 I take One A Day Prenatal with DHA/EPA. The box (for $13) comes with one bottle of 30 prenatals and a bottle of 30 DHA/EPA pills. I have been taking them together through my pregnancy. My OB recommended them if the ones she prescribed didn't work out (they gave me a stomach ache so I went with One A Day). I have heard nothing but good things! I recommend them!
Avatar f tn Bellow is a summary of recommendations for FA consumption, notice that patients without documented CHD should consume those fatty acid as fish in their diet: 1. Patients without documented coronary heart disease should eat a variety of (preferably fatty) fish at least twice a week. Include oils and foods rich in alpha-linolenic acid (flaxseed, canola and soybean oils; flaxseed and walnuts). 2.
Avatar f tn i don't remember my research on this fully, but i do recall that plant derived ALA's are not biologically equivalent to marine derived DHA. i take fish oil supplementation for DHA. the only concern there is impurities like mercury present in the fish oil - there are brands that make DHA capsules that have been purified for this purpose. some brands will even go as far to source their oils from the purest fish and highest standards, so that purification isn't even necessary.
Avatar f tn U need to chk CUZ u need iron n calcium dha also. I take cvs brand prenatal plus dha it has everything.
1095404 tn?1333992839 Supplements containing EPA may not be recommended for infants or small children because they upset the balance between DHA and EPA during early development. Pregnant women should talk to their doctor before taking fish oil supplements. Fish oil capsules may cause minor side effects, such as loose stools, abdominal discomfort, and belching. In addition, they may prolong bleeding time slightly.
Avatar f tn t feel as though the ones my doctor prescribed me are good enough and have talked 2 a friend of the family whose a doctor and recommended something else. Of course I have to make sure its ok with my doctor first but she's always so busy, taking sometime 4 her to get back to me. So yeah what vitamins are you taking? How are they working for you?
Avatar f tn oceans mom) ? Cause I have organic prenatal plus I take the dha vitamins. But it doesn't state it's a prenatal.
Avatar f tn Wow yeah you should definitely get a prenatal. Folic acid is good, but there may be other nutrients the baby needs he may not be getting from that particular pill. If you're looking for a specific brand, I use Brainstrong, which includes DHA (good for their little brain development), but most of the major prenatal vitamins will give you what they need.
5875562 tn?1410898886 Yup. Prenatal r just an extra dosage of regular multivitamins pretty much. I was taking gummies, and bf wanted to try them.
Avatar f tn What are your thoughts on taking fish oil or dha supplements through the third trimester for brain development? I'm thinking of doing it, I need to speak with my OB first, but I want some opinions :) Thanks!
Avatar f tn Today I went to my first doctor appt, thanks to god everything looks great and she recommended me some vitamins but since I don't have insurance yet,she was supposed to give some today from the clinic but she didn't give me nothing
Avatar n tn I have tried almost every brand out there. Internet research has let me to think that I am allergic to DHA, the active ingredient in the tanners. Can't stand the smell either. Are there any tanners or bronzers out there that do not contain DHA?? I am 50 years old with fair, sensitive skin. I seem to have developed strange allergies to chemicals in the last few years and my skin has gotten very sensitive.
1109996 tn?1267012897 I use the ones from GNC for $20 a month. They have a lot of extra stuff, to include an extra pill for calcium and another one for DHA. I've done all the research and DHA is really good for the baby. I didn't use the ones the doctor prescribed me at first because the iron was too high and I was already sick enough. He told me to take Flinstones. Once I got off the Flinstones, I went with the GNC ones. I told him about it and he actually recommended I stayed with them.

Avatar m tn Levels used in therapy to lower blood triglycerides, also a risk factor for cardiovascular disease, are higher, about 2-4 grams of combined EPA and DHA per day. The OSU studies with mice used DHA at levels comparable to the triglyceride therapies. "DHA was more effective than EPA at attenuating inflammation, oxidative stress, fibrosis and hepatic damage," the researchers wrote in their conclusion.
688450 tn?1259468734 I wanted to know the same info when I was pregnant. I was taking Prenexa prenatals (which contains 250mg DHA) vitamins along with 2 fish oil pills daily. I read that the recommended daily amount is 300mgs, but that is conflicting as you mentioned. I think I was taking about 475mgs total daily...anyway, they say the asian culture eats tons of omega 3 fatty acids primarily from fresh fish and there has been no reportings of problems...other than very bright children : ) Which I hope I have!!
1756970 tn?1314376733 what i want to know is what is a higher safe dosage of the EFA supply?? i am taking 3000 mg of the combined EFA and DHA now but she told me the higher dose of EFA will increasingly help with the mood issues.
