Common Questions and Answers about Dha epa how much

dha

Avatar f tn Thanks stefano I check the fish oil again. It is only 360 mg EPA and 240 mg DHA per 2000 mg. Its nothing. I will look for higher concentrate ones.
Avatar m tn no it is not harmful it is a must, but the quality and concentration of epa and dha must be very high at 2-3g daily (fish oil quantity is not useful check epa/dha), most products are scam with very low dha/epa so useless.
Avatar m tn After pooling and reviewing studies using a total of 1,000 mg to 6,000 mg of EPA and DHA, those in which EPA was 60% or more of the total showed a highly significant improvement, whereas those that were less than 60% EPA did not.

Avatar f tn Hello and thanks for this service! Is it more beneficial to take an "omega 3 EPA & DHA fish oil supplement" or an "omega 3, 6 &9 EPA & DHA fish oil supplement"? I'm a bit confused as to which would be of the optimum benefit to purchase. Thanks for your time and expertise!
1885735 tn?1322375616 Fish oil with dha and epa.
Avatar m tn Thank you Stefano but that recommended that you use has 1800 mg EPA and 900 mg DHA per 5 ml which is much higher than the above amounts which are in 10ml. Should I try to get the one from the site http://www.pho.it/schedaProdotto.asp?prodottoID=202 . Its just that I do not understand Italian and I cannot see how to order it.
1756970 tn?1314376733 Well the more EPA the better, so if you want more EPA then yes buy a different one, I am not 100% sure how you tell if it has Mercury in it or not, maybe in should say on the bottle, but i guess it might not sure. I buy Usana fish oil and i know its a good brand and does take the Mercury out, my suppler has told me it does. It also contains vitamin D as it is needed to absorb the fish oil properly. Now how long it takes to work is different to everyone and depends on the issue etc.
1192727 tn?1282735542 Fish oil capsules contain both DHA and EPA. Supplements containing EPA may not be recommended for infants or small children because they upset the balance between DHA and EPA during early development. Pregnant women should talk to their doctor before taking fish oil supplements. Fish oil capsules may cause minor side effects, such as loose stools, abdominal discomfort, and belching. In addition, they may prolong bleeding time slightly.
Avatar m tn That's not a high dose, but the above is correct in noting that not all fish oil is created equal.
519661 tn?1264516208 It was the worst between 7 and 8 weeks, I was so tired and nauseated and just felt very sad and lonely, even with a wonderful husband and daughter. Then I realized I had stopped taking my omega-3 supplement (DHA and EPA), it's a fat your body NEEDS but you can only get it from dietary intake or supplements. It is found in fish but I hate fish so I take a pure, mercury free fish oil in the form of EPA and DHA. I began taking it again and within 2 days I felt amazingly better.
668044 tn?1225913014 I take One A Day Prenatal with DHA/EPA. The box (for $13) comes with one bottle of 30 prenatals and a bottle of 30 DHA/EPA pills. I have been taking them together through my pregnancy. My OB recommended them if the ones she prescribed didn't work out (they gave me a stomach ache so I went with One A Day). I have heard nothing but good things! I recommend them!
Avatar f tn 4) Natural Factors RxOmega-3 Factors EPA 400mg/DHA 200 mg (400 mg EPA and 200 mg DHA per softgel, 1 to 3 per day) Found only 83.
Avatar n tn You might want to look into a DHA/EPA supplement. Dr Fuhrman says most women that suffer from this related to pregnancy is due to low levels of DHA /EPA. Baby takes what they need and sometimes you are left depleted. A good one is Nordic Naturals marine algae EPA /DHA it is non gmo, and mercury free.hope this helps you!
Avatar n tn I answered on your other post, but do want to say none of the brands you're taking are the best quality. You want fish oil sourced from clean fish. Buying bargain brands can be problematic with supplements.
Avatar m tn 8g from 4,5g of fish oil, very hard to find only an italian brand had so much concentrated epa and dha, most brands are just no effect because too little epa/dha bitter melon tea, effective oninsuline resistance at certain doses (same potency as anti diabetes 2 drugs but no sides) and many other diet and excercise interventions, you see them all here http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Hepatitis-B/update-on-my-fatty-liver/show/1500346?
Avatar m tn Yes, I did in the past. I suffer from the same thing and tried to get off my meds and be natural. At first I was still a little down. I made friends with a nutritionist. I don't remember how much my dose of fish oil was, but you have to take high doses in order for it to be therapeutic. I can't remember the exact dose, but it was plus or minus 1,000 mg of EPA. EPA is found on the back of the bottle. That is what you're looking for. Not, necessarily DHA.
Avatar n tn (2) Japan does not yet have OMOCOR (EPA/DHA). Current drug is Epadel by Mochida (ALL EPA).. So I take over the counter one and prescription half and half. Is there any opinion of whether all EPA/DHA or EPA only is more effective. Omocor comes next year, (3) Given my above cholesterol and triglyceride figures and regimen, is there any evidence that taking niacin would be better than the fish oil alone I am taking? It seems already to be in a good range.
628735 tn?1273875777 that Sprouts produces they have a big article and it is all about the same, it states Try a blend of EPA and DHA at 250mgs for ages 3-6 and 500mgs 7-11 1000mgs for age 11 plus also stating that instead of reaching for Ritalin or prozac consider if they are getting enough magnesium.says the author of Magnesium Miracle" Carolyn Dean MD ND some interesting stuff that I am going to digest.
233488 tn?1310693103 At about eight years follow-up, they found a possible biological interaction between the CFH Y402H genotype and intakes of zinc, β-carotene, lutein/zeaxanthin, and eicosapentaenoic/docosahexaenoic acid (EPA/DHA), and between the LOC387715 A69S genotype and zinc and EPA/DHA, based on significant synergy indices (P < .05 for all).
Avatar n tn Idk what is in the pills you are talking about but if it doesnt have dha/epa i would suggest going ahead and taking actual prenatal vitamins. Dha is to help with brain development.
Avatar f tn Fish oil is a much better source of DHA than algae. Algae sources of DHA are many (more often than not) times treated with bleach and hexane to remove odors etc. As you know bleach is not good but Hexane is much worse. Choosing fish sources for DHA that are highly purified or come from fish at the bottom of the food chain (smaller fish don't live as long or consume other fish which are ways of becoming toxic with heavy metals like mercury) such as sardines, anchovies, and krill.
