Deviated septum to the left

Common Questions and Answers about Deviated septum to the left

deviated-septum

Avatar m tn For temporary relief, since your septum is deviated to the left, you can lie in bed on your right side and if you notice after 5 min your septum will fall towards the right giving you more breathing room on the left. The question on whether or not you will need to go through the operation would be best suited for your doctor to advise you on.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have a severely deviated septum on the left side and was getting a Covid swab by an overzealous nurse. She poked me all the way up the left side where my septum was deviated, felt resistance and kept going. I felt a sudden bout of pain and she finally retracted the swab. Two days later I wake up with clear salty liquid dripping down my throat. I also have a massive daily headache, eye pressure and sensitivity to light.
189372 tn?1219833358 Mild sleep apnea as well which started pvcs for me it all makes sense lack of oxygen to the heart. Sharp shooting pains on left side which is where my severe deviated septum is. Hopefully after surgery all this goes away and proceed with life.
Avatar f tn I went to a doctor complaining about headaches and not being able to breathe on the left side of my nose. The headaches were also on the left side due to pressure from the clogged nostril. He told me I had a deviated septum. I scheduled surgery that day because he said he could fix my problem and make it easier to breathe. Well he did make it easier to breathe out of the clogged side, but he moved the septum too far and now I cannot breathe out of what was my "good" side.
Avatar m tn Also, I know this will sound gross, but I am able to stick one of my fingers all the way up my right nostril, but not my left, not even a quarter of the way up. I am being blocked by the deviation and something on the left side of my nose (not the center where septum is) Please help :( Thank you!
Avatar f tn There is absolutely no evidence that a deviated septum leads to oxygenation problems and problems with the heart and lungs. The only reasons to fix your deviated septum would be 1) you are finding it difficult to breathe through your nose 2) you have sleep apnea and fixing your septum may help with CPAP compliance 3) you are having severe, difficult to treat nosebleeds 4) you are looking for cosmetic rhinoplasty (of which a septoplasty may be a part).
4556201 tn?1356445652 You will get a better cosmetic result from a plastic surgeon, but maybe the ENT would cost less. Just have the bump fixed at the same time as the deviated septum is fixed. It is a common procedure.
Avatar f tn Hello and welcome to the forum. Yes, lung disease can be related to pulmonary hypertension. Here's an overview of this disorder: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/pulmonary-hypertension/symptoms-causes/syc-20350697 There are 5 groups of causes and lung disease (copd, emphysema, etc.) are in group B. Sleep apnea is also in group B. There's also a long list of risk factors . Talk to your doctor if you feel pulmonary hypertension is something that may be going on.
2058275 tn?1330706149 Assuming you are referring to a deviated NASAL septum (FYI there is a region of the heart called the septum), the answer is POSSIBLY. A deviated nasal septum, when severe, could impair normal respiratory pattern. In some cases this has led to loud snoring and even obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). OSA could cause inadequate oxygenation during sleep, putting extra stress on the heart, which has been linked to the development and worsening of atrial fibrillation (AF).
Avatar m tn Hi, its unlikely that a deviated septum can cause dizziness. Deviated septum can cause problems with breathing, as it causes nasal blockage. Your symptoms of dizziness and lightheadedness, if are relieved by eating something, indicate that you might be having episodes of hypoglycemia. Inadequate sleep can also cause tiredness, fatigue and dizziness. Other causes for these symptoms are inner ear infections; brain disorders heart problems, fever, stress, low blood pressure and anxiety.
Avatar m tn I had my deviated septum fix but didnt fix it 100% as they informed me that it may take 2 operation to entirely fix it as it was completely deviated to the left and its all crooked up to the back of my nose. i still experience excessive sweating, sinusitis, tinutis but tonsilitis i havent experience it so far, and its been a year and 1/2 since my surgery. what bothers me now is that everytime my nose gets stuffy i notice that I sweat alot is this related?
Avatar m tn I have noticed that the sit of my nose where my deviated septum had been seems to still be significantly inflamed and that the generalized area around where the maxillary sinus would be hurts as well. Perhaps the most annoying, is the fact that my upper left molars kill. is this likely just residual inflammation from the surgery itself? i do know there was a good amount of infection in the left maxillary prior to my surgery, so wondering if this is just aggravated by the surgery.
Avatar f tn One day in winter night my left ear suddenly felt like opened and mild ringing has started I thought it was due to cold air......after one and half month...the ringing became high in left ear...when I talk , my inner voice is hitting left ear...when I went to Ent specialist my test results came normal for hearing....but doctor said I have heavy nasal septum deviation in left nose and also tonsils..he said due to septum deviation, tinnitus may occur....
Avatar f tn I have had Graves Disease for the past 15 years and have had many of the symptom associated with it, but recently I have started to have ringing in the ears, numbness on the left side of my face and a twitching left eyelid. Is this just a part of having Graves Disease or is this something else? If it is something else what could it be?
Avatar f tn is it because my deviated septum is visibly crooked there? (you can see my septum on the inside of my left nostril) and the hole to breathe in is smaller? or is it the allergies/small sinus infection? or could it even be really bad Anxiety making me feel this way? Any response is greatly appreciated. Or if somebody else has had this as well that would be great.
Avatar m tn You should see an ENT surgeron to determine how bad the deviated septum is and how you can fix it (normally an easy day surgery - I took a week off of work from it but I was fine after 5 days - however mine was not bad enough to need to break my nose which would increase the recovery time).
Avatar f tn To be honest, everyone has a deviated nasal septum, whether or not they had trauma. If your nasal congestion is back, then you may want to talk to your surgeon about further corrective measures. There's a small chance that opening up your nose will help your fatigue issues. Take a look at my article on obstructive sleep apnea and upper airway resistance syndrome. http://www.medhelp.org/user_journals/show/42438?personal_page_id=500339 http://www.medhelp.org/user_journals/show/42145?
Avatar f tn Hi, the common cause for sinusitis is Deviated nasal septum (DNS). This condition leads to obstruction. This can lead to sinus infection, ear infection and headaches. The septoplasty or rhinoplasty for deviated nasal septum (DNS) will help you to relieve your symptoms. If sinusitis cannot be managed with medication; surgical drainage would be definitive therapy. I suggest you to consult ENT surgeon for further management. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn Its my right nostril that is obstructed by my deviated septum, not sure if its any correlation to my right tonsil being the one with the more accute redness and blister thing or not.
Avatar f tn I have a deviated septum in my nose. i am not able to breathe very well out of the left nostril. I am not sure if that has been affecting my breathing, but i feel it may be possible. About a week ago, i slipped and feel in the car, and my left side below my rib cage slammed into the steering wheel. Ever since, when i have been having problems breathing (usually at night), i get a sharp pain in the area when i take deep breaths.
Avatar m tn I went to an ENT Doctor and made a test for my ear and there was no problem in my ear then he saw my nose and told me that I need to make a surgery for my nose cartilage to solve the ear clogging problem. I don't know if I understood him right, but he said that the left nostril is closing which causes pressure on my left ear and causing it to get clogged. I am asking here to see if there may be other causes for this problem, and to see if anyone has faced this before? Thanks.
Avatar m tn | And I would like to know if that would be easy to fix it and what would it cost in Canada! And I just uploaded pics on my profile! Thanks!
Avatar m tn You may have a mild enough infection in your upper sinuses to not inflict pain on pressure. Sinusitis is common with a deviated septum. The inflammation will cause a lot of your problems. I highly recommend a certified homeopath. They can help you so the problem does not become chronic.
Avatar n tn wondering if anyone else has had similar issues and did it turn out to be the deviated septum and not a food or inhalant allergy?
Avatar f tn Deviated septum cause low oxygen in the body and it may leads to digits clubbing due to low oxygen in the body are this both related deviated septum and low oxygen
Avatar n tn I have noticed that my nose is slightly crooked and this was confirmed when an ENT told me that I have a deviated septum on the right side, but he just told me to use an antihistamine nasal spray and an allergy pill: Clarasil D. These medicines have had little effect. I also hear noises in my ears when I swallow. I hear a click/snap kind of noise, sometimes only in one ear and sometimes in both, when I swallow. I also hear this noise when I yawn.
Avatar f tn Hello, I wanted to know the risksof having a deviated septum fixed. I had this problem for over 10 years and it seems to keep coming back. I had it fix twice before. I am noticing that the cartilage in my nose seems less so I am concerned. I don't want to have to keep getting surgery to correct my deviated septum. Is there any other options (besides nose sprays)?
538090 tn?1213808112 First of all, the doctor told me that he will have to cure my bronchitis and flu which caused and contributed to the inflammation of the membranes, then he will tackle my deviated septum to reduce the swelling of the cartilages. So far, I have to say that I am not stuffed as bad as I used to and I hope I don't have to go through the surgery if he can cure the deviated septum (keeping my fingers crossed).
