Avatar f tn I just had septoplasty and sinus surgery last Wed. Too early to tell about the success, but the only way to cure a deviated septum is surgery. I never get the easy stuff!!!
Avatar f tn For, example, if you have a deviated septum, can only breathe out of 50% of nose, or have symptoms of rhinosinusitus. Check with your insurance company to see their policy, then look into the database of doctors covered by your insurance, look up best ones, go to them showing you need a nosejob, and they will contact your insurance company, and hopefully they will cover at least part of it. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I had rhinoplasty surgery two years back by Dr. Philip Solomon at Toronto. I had a good experience with the surgeon and I am happy with the results. I had to wear the nose splint for about a week following the surgery, and I started going to work after two weeks. By the time the swelling had gone down almost completely. I say almost because there will still be some swelling but it won’t be noticed easily.
Avatar n tn I recently had surgery and now I have some concerns. Let me start with some background information... Over the years I have broken my nose several times from a variety of activities ranging from accidents, street football and martial arts. Naturally this has created issues such as a deviated septum and so forth. I knew the septum was deviated and finally after fracturing it again in december, I started to have the left side of my nose collapse with heavy inhalations.
Avatar n tn The septoplasty or rhinoplasty for deviated nasal septum (DNS) will help you to relieve your symptoms. I suggest you to consult ENT surgeon for further management. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn Should I start to get sinus infections again, I should go back to see him, but as long as I am able to breath well through my nose, there is no need to do surgery. As far as repairing the deviated septum via Rhinoplasty, he feels that this will not solve any of my problems, as far as the pain and swelling. The pain will be chronic, as I have Chronic Pain Syndrome, anyways.

1329703 tn?1275158081 I have a deviated septum that was found when my allergy shots started working but I still couldn't breathe through my nose. I also have mild sinus issues with them clogging and a mild infection (normally my immune system gets it under control within a week or so). I have the surgery in a couple of weeks so I can't comment on the long term affects yet but I'm hopeful it will help!
Avatar m tn Hi, I just had surgery thursday evening to fix my deviated septum, remove cysts in my sinus cavity, treat my sinus infection, and some rhinoplasty to also increase breathing efficiency. After the surgery, I noticed something tickling the back of my throat and feeling foreign/odd. After inspecting it at home with a flashlight, I can tell that some phlegm or clearish looking substance has attached to my tonsil and is aggravating my throat.
Avatar f tn s called sterorhinoplasty last summer now next surgery coming up is to fix a ightly sldeviated septum. I really have to have the septum fixed as my breathing has not been clear or 100% for years, since I broke my nose. Any advice is welcome!
Avatar f tn Hi, the common cause for sinusitis is Deviated nasal septum (DNS). This condition leads to obstruction. This can lead to sinus infection, ear infection and headaches. Avatar f tn Hi, a deviated nasal septum can cause an obstruction to breathing and correction will ensure that your symptoms will improve. But this may not help correct the post nasal drip. Post nasal drip could be due to a sinus infection, a cold or a chronic allergy. These can lead to a post nasal drip and lead to an irritation in the throat. It could be sinusitis, if it is accompanied by nasal stuffiness and facial pain or pressure. Post nasal drip could also be due to allergens.
538090 tn?1213808112 Tony, You sure need to be careful about getting a deviated septum fixed along with turbinate reduction. I had a deviated septum fixed along with my sinuses opened back in 2004 . Its been a nightmare for me. I'd gladly take what I had back before surgery. My turbinates were not touched. Please take a look at the following site before getting any kind of nasal surgery, especially turb reduction. Not telling you what to do, and I'm not a doctor.
Avatar f tn The headaches were also on the left side due to pressure from the clogged nostril. He told me I had a deviated septum. I scheduled surgery that day because he said he could fix my problem and make it easier to breathe. Well he did make it easier to breathe out of the clogged side, but he moved the septum too far and now I cannot breathe out of what was my "good" side. My headaches are worse than they were before the surgery.
Avatar f tn Hello, I wanted to know the risksof having a deviated septum fixed. I had this problem for over 10 years and it seems to keep coming back. I had it fix twice before. I am noticing that the cartilage in my nose seems less so I am concerned. I don't want to have to keep getting surgery to correct my deviated septum. Is there any other options (besides nose sprays)?
Avatar f tn Hi there - I had revision rhinoplasty on may 4th and it seems like my problems before have worsened. Due to my first rhinoplasty, my septum became deviated to the right and I had a large bump on the left side of my tip making my nose look like an 's'. I thought I was clear that I wanted my nose straightened and the bump reduced - I did not want to wake up with a completely different nose - but now my nose is shorter, thinner and it makes the problem even more noticeable.
4556201 tn?1356445652 It could be a combined procedure, surgery for the deviated septum and the bump. Consult your primary care physician, who may then refer you to an ENT surgeon. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
