My husband had surgery for his deviated septum along with turbine reduction. It seems he broke his nose in highschool, while playing basketball, and didn't realize it. I have heard of a perforated septum and deviated septum- Can these things lead to a feeling of your eye starting to sink in (it totally is not noticable to look at) its just a slight feeling. What is that all about? AND from there can it cause more damage to your ear drums? Like having a popping or clicking sound when blowing by nose. I would appreciate any advise- insurance issues, surgerys, natural healing, but please dont say to me to stop doing cocaine.

I'am planning to have sinus surgery (septopasty) to correct a deviated septum and deciding between surgeons. One of the surgeons attaches splints with breathing tubes to each side of the repaired septum, the other surgeon just stitches the 2 sides of the septum together in a procedure called "quilting".

I have a deviated septum that was found when my allergy shots started working but I still couldn't breathe through my nose. I also have mild sinus issues with them clogging and a mild infection (normally my immune system gets it under control within a week or so). I have the surgery in a couple of weeks so I can't comment on the long term affects yet but I'm hopeful it will help!

I have noticed that the sit of my nose where my deviated septum had been seems to still be significantly inflamed and that the generalized area around where the maxillary sinus would be hurts as well. Perhaps the most annoying, is the fact that my upper left molars kill. is this likely just residual inflammation from the surgery itself? i do know there was a good amount of infection in the left maxillary prior to my surgery, so wondering if this is just aggravated by the surgery.

I finally saw an ENT and he saw I have a deviated septum and enlarged turbinates and concha bellus. My ENT wants to correct the septum and reduce turbinates and remove concha belluse sinuses.. I chose to only have my turbinates reduces with local anesthetic, I think it still puts me to sleep and he's going to reduce turbinates using heated catherisation.. I'm a little nervous to have this down because I've heard of empty nose syndrome and also potential sideffects..

Just read your posting from six months ago as I explore why I had a severely deviated septum and it struck a chord. I had septoplasty, sinus surgery and turbinate reduction two years ago and it was the best thing I had done for myself in years. Unfortunately, I did not realize my problem until I was in my early 50s after suffering countless sinus infections while dealing with severe environmental allergies that were all diminishing my quality of life.

Hello, I wanted to know the risksof having a deviated septum fixed. I had this problem for over 10 years and it seems to keep coming back. I had it fix twice before. I am noticing that the cartilage in my nose seems less so I am concerned. I don't want to have to keep getting surgery to correct my deviated septum. Is there any other options (besides nose sprays)?

I just had septoplasty and sinus surgery last Wed. Too early to tell about the success, but the only way to cure a deviated septum is surgery. I never get the easy stuff!!!

My husband had deviated septum surgery several years ago to help aleviate his severe headaches which are connected to his sinuses. It didn't help AT ALL. He still suffers terrible headaches and sinus pressure. We paid a lot of money only for him to be in a lot of pain for a few days and he also had a nasal hemmorage afterward which was pretty scary.

If you notice you may be breathing differently out of each side from time to time. I have the opposite problem, my septum is deviated towards the right. I have also had a septoplasty but it didn't do much to solve my problem. After the years I came to realize that it got deviated to the right because I found it very comfortable to sleep on my right and slept on my right side for years.

So I went to the ENT today and had them stick that scope up my nose and apparently I have a pretty bad deviated septum ... he gave me a script for a nasal spray and an antibiotic but I'm not sure what the antibiotic is for, I don't like taking antibiotics if I don't have to so I'm hesitant to take that. He mentioned surgery but for the possible future ... I'm hoping the nasal spray will help the allergies and the post nasal drip ...

Hi, I am due to have a septoplasty for a deviated septum and the turbinate reduction surgery the end of March. My left turbinate is swollen on the side of the deviation. I have had coblation surgery (where they use Radio-frequency to shrink the turbinate). We only shrunk the front of my inferior turbinate. This did well for about 19 months (until I caught a cold back at Thanksgiving). Then the swelling started all over again- now in the back part of my turbinate.

Has anyone had the sinus surgery and it helped the dizziness, off balance, and lightheaded feeling. I am have a deviated septum that is being correct. I am nervous I have never had surgery before but I am praying this takes care of the issues. Could someone please share their experiences with me, my surgery is Thursday. Thanks so much!

but after I was crying for a really long time a few days ago (2+ hours) I’ve noticed on the left side of my face (which is where my deviated septum is pointed towards.) that i feel pressure and ear pressure etc on that side. Which then i noticed a annoying slightly cold air feeling when breathing in. Now i usually only notice it when i’m hyper focused on it and there’s rare occasion where i’ve been distracted recently and didn’t notice it at all.

It could be a combined procedure, surgery for the deviated septum and the bump. Consult your primary care physician, who may then refer you to an ENT surgeon. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

It is always difficult to assess the effects of surgery without more information, such as CT scans of the sinuses. It is unlikely that surgery will eliminate anxiety, palpitations and uncoordinated swallowing. If the sinuses are blocked by the swelling, the other symptoms may be relieved by appropriate surgery. If you have questions, it is better to have a second opinion form a second ENT surgeon.

I got in to see the ENT dr a week ahead of schedule. I have chronic sinusitis, scars on both ears from past infections, and "fairly severe deviated septum,". He had trouble getting the scope up my nose, had to go to a smaller one. He put me on a "push" of prednisone, antibiotics, and Nasonex. Also scheduled a CT scan of sinus's in a month to see if infection is gone. Then he said we would decide what to do. My sx were a constant drippy nose, pressure in ears, headaches.

I saw my ENT doctor this morning and she showed the result of CT scan. Indeed I have Deviated Septum and she suggests me to be operated. This Deviated Septum explains excessive mucus in my throat. However, I am still wandering if it causes some bloody mucus in my throat in the morning. For that I worry about my lungs.

After several different doctors, I was told that I had trigeminal neuralgia as well as a deviated septum. I eventually had laser surgery for the trigeminal neuralgia, but the a facial pain continues. The nerve pain has subsided, but I continue to have facial pain on my left side. The pain seems to get worse if I lean my head to that side. This occurred a few years ago, and after several months of taking seizure medication and lortab, I was not getting any better.
