Deviated septum nose job surgery

Common Questions and Answers about Deviated septum nose job surgery

deviated-septum

Avatar f tn I was hoping he would say that he can fix the septum/and I can get a nose job at the same time but instead he said he doesn't think fixing my septum would help and i think he doesn't do that surgery anyway...I have HMO and think maybe he just said that because he doesn't perform surgeries. He put me on amoxicillin and I have to go back and then he probably will clean out my sinus like a rotortillter or something!!! Would fixing a deviated septum help my sinus issues? Can it hurt it?
Avatar m tn Having sinus problem most of my life, it’s the last few years that have been the worse. I’m a 28 year old male with acute sinusitis and a deviated septum and my sinus cavities are packed with polyps. When I was younger I had an allergy test done, and I was allergic to a few things, 20 years later, same test I was so allergic to everything they put on me that they had to stop because I swelled up so much.
Avatar n tn believe me when i tell you that if you continue the use of coke you will have much more to worry about than your nose. I dont have a deviated septum but i do have one hole that goes directly to my sinus cavity and another that goes srtraight to the back of my throat. in the last 7 yrs of use i would do a minimum of a ball or 3 to 4g's. daily about some point maybe 5 yrs ago my nose stopped being able to drain at all.
Avatar m tn After a CT Scan they found that I had two bone breaks (one 3mm separation and one 1 mm separation) as well as a deviated septum (my septum was rocked.) From a historical perspective, I broke my nose in a sports related injury at the age of 16 and never received treatment despite breathing problems from a deviated septum. As a result of this most recent injury, my inability to breath, and a crooked nose, I opted for reconstructive surgery.
Avatar f tn my sinus surgery i had my deviated septum fixed and lots of polyps dug out. so any advice given would be highly appreciated on my previous post. i get so worried.
Avatar n tn Now I am considering plastic surgery for my nose. I have a deviated nasal septum due to an accident that I had in the past. I might go for surgery within 2 weeks. I'm not certain if Hashimoto's disease can have any effect on the surgery. Do I have to make sure that my TSH is within range before I can do the surgery? And what risks are there, weather I have the surgery with a slightly elevated TSH or when it's within range? What do you advise me to do? Thanks.
Avatar n tn It has been recommended to me also that I have turbinate surgery as my middle ones are 3x their normal size and I have a deviated septum. I have terrible headaches and breathe through my nose. I have never had a surgery before so I am very wary of having something done especially on such sensitive tissue. Thank you so much for the information and comments.
Avatar n tn When I press against the back of my head I can feel the nerves in my nose get more 'activated' and the vibrating sensation increase. ENT scans revealed that I have a deviated septum and concha bullosa. Any ideas anyone? Pls help! Thanks.
Avatar n tn I even had a septoplasty this past spring that took care of a deviated septum, a bone spur and something to do with my turbinates but this red nose thing with headaches still happens to me along with the fact that whenever I get sinus stuffiness, my nose cannot ever eliminate it. It stays in sinuses or has to go down my throat. It is now 5AM and I had the usual red nose throbbing and swollen bridge this whole week followed with an excruciating headache at 3AM. That is the usual cycle.
Avatar n tn I have the same symptoms you do - feels like someone hit me in the nose, and the thingie that divides my nostrils (nasal septum) feels bruised if I push on it. The pain is where the cartilage meets the bone, and it hurts if I push gently on my nose on either side right at that point. I'm at the very tail end of a cold and wonder if this is something that took hold while my resistance was down from that.
Avatar f tn I also have an enlarged turbinate with a deviated septum. Every time I catch a cold I get a sinus infection, I go on antibiotics take decongestats night and day with ibuprofin and it always comes back. It seems to have gotten worse this month. My entire head was throbbing with neck pain and facial swelling. I have to lay on my right side at night to be able to breath out of my left nostrile. My ENT said I need to have the deviated septum fixed with surgery and have the turbinate coterised.
Avatar f tn I am experiencing an infection after a nose-job that has been going on for over a year. I have been emitting very bad smells through my nose and have been avoiding social situations because of it. I have been using oil of oregnao for about 4 days now and the smell is 95% gone. The first time I put in about 20 drops in a neti-pot with the salt solution. It stung so much...way more than hydrogen peroxide. Now I put in about 5 drops, it burns almost as much, but feels very refreshing afterwards.
Avatar dr m tn Not breathing well through your nose can alter your heart rate and blood pressure, as well as to increasing your stress response. Your nose makes about 2 pints of mucous every day. If your nose isn't working properly and mucous isn't cleared, the stagnant mucous can lead to infections such as sinusitis or ear infections. Lastly, not breathing well through your nose can aggravate snoring or obstructive sleep apnea.
797873 tn?1265740119 Mine is little different because where ever I am at this smell stays in, my room , at work and in my car.. and the smell changes all the time it depends what I eat. I also get thursty If I dont drink water. I start to get a dry throat and mouth... If i drink anything else that is not water my breath gets worse.. please help!
Avatar f tn I had a nose job 5 years ago, to my my nose tip smaller. My surgeon is specialized in facial surgeries. I had an open nose surgery. I'm pleased with the results, it looks better now than prior. But, ever since surgery my left nostril is runny, my septum is now deviated and the nostrils are not even. There's also a scar where she cut the nose open. I don't regret doing it but it's important to be prepared that it might not get perfect.
Avatar m tn My most recent MRI on 06/07' showed scattered foci of deep white matter T2 hyperintensity which are nonspecific, although somewhat atypical in this age group. It was noted on a recent CT scan that I had a deviated septum, polyps, chronic sinusitus and a possible mucus pocket. The neurologist ruled out anything from the white matter stating "I think it's from a previous injury." ENT said he doesn't believe my deviated septum would cause me to feel like this.
Avatar f tn The surgeon preformed cartage alternations (open surgery) in order to straight up the nose and some major tip ‘job’. After 10 month the tip of the nose still very swollen and the nose is still asymmetric. I have trouble to breathe and I’m making strange noises while tiring. There is a hole in my cartage that goes through and its very disturbing. I am very unhappy with the results. The surgeon said that he will perform the revision operation but I don’t trust him anymore after what he’s done.
Avatar f tn I had sinus surgery, deviated septum (never clogged nose, why fixed?) no help.. polyps grow back also. a I just had new ct scan polyps again, septum not complete straight, said that's not problem.. New ENT dr. said polyps "not a problem. I read: Polyps cause inflammation and my nose burns & inflamed cheekbones, facial pain, pins/needles, headachy..body weak from enduring this. I know how you feel..DON'T GIVE UP.. Find another ENT DR/SURGEON at TEACHING HOSPITAL.
Avatar m tn I have dry eyes and have had surgery on my nose. deviated septum. I just get so tired of feeling like my head has soft and hard spots or else feels like it is being squeezed on one side, Should i just check myself in to a crazy house?? any advice would help.
Avatar f tn I have a serius problem. I had deviated septum surgery 5 years ago which was not a success 90% of my turbinates were removed. I was suffering extreme excessive muscus that was not draining down the back my throat.. Not only did the surgery not address that but, now I have no surface area in my right nostril (that is where the surgery was done) and all of my nasal sucretions are going under my lip and down the front of my mouth.
Avatar m tn Ok so I got a CT scan done and the otorhinolaryngologist head doctor found a very big cyst in one of my sinus cavities, and commented on my deviated septum and how it is very crooked (genetic) also the cartilage is structurally messed up and both nostrils have a lot of blockage...my nose basically ***** at doing its job. They're going to have surgery to fix it so that I can breathe properly through my nose.
Avatar dr m tn If your nose is stuffy for whatever reason—allergies, polyps, deviated septum, or anything else—that’s the first thing that I address, whether medically or surgically. This is because if you don’t breathe well through your nose, then everything else downstream is more prone to collapse. So once the nose is taken care of and if you still have sleep apnea, then you can try going back to the CPAP.
Avatar n tn There are a few surgeons out their on the net that have extensive websites devoted to sharing their knowledge of the art of science of nose job surgery. There are a few surgeons like Dr.Rivkin that intimately detail the steps to achieve various goals in rhinoplasty, both by showing examples of how it was done wrong and how it was done right.
Avatar n tn However, when he does the septo, he has to also do turbinate surgery on that side b/c of moving the septum back to the middle of my nose. He also said he would have to fracture my bone in the inferior turbinates and maybe even the middle turbinate. I was wondering if you had surgery on just the inferior turbinate or also the middle one too and how they did yours. My middle turbinate appears swollen also. I can feel swelling up high on my nose (near the bridge).
Avatar m tn That didn't work, so I just waited until i was 19, and my third surgery done by another surgeon. After this was done my septum was still extremely deviated, my breathing impaired, and my nose crooked. About a year later, I looked to a plastic surgeon. I think he did a very good job...my nose is more structured so my nose doesn't collapse when I breathe through it. Anyway, I just got the cast off yesterday, and my nose is very swollen. It is as hard as a rock.
Avatar n tn Tried it all but eventually the doctor told me I would need to do the surgery to get some relief. However its a few months later and I lost my job and have no insurance or money to have the surgery. So can someone PLEASE tell me if there is something I can try to get some relief. This problem is causing all sorts of problem in my life. It is so bad i can't focus at all. I can hardly hold a conversation without forgetting what I want to say. Please help.
Avatar n tn 2 partial turbinectomy, 1 deviated septum surgery. I spend every 15 minutes of the day in the bathroom trying to blow my nose and nothing ever comes out. Every ENT I go to says they will not perform a full turbinectomy. I've tried allergy shots for years and they did not work. I just need a doctor to do a full turbinectomy. Does anyone have the name of one? I live in Illinois, but am willing to travel.
Avatar n tn A couple of times, they even required trips to the ER. Anyway, I had surgery last March because my septum was apparently deviated and there was a blockage in my nasal sinuses. He said that my nose had been broken at one point, apparently I didnt even know it. After the surgery, things were looking up for a little while, but then, my symptoms came back. Now they seem to be worsening a great deal again.
Avatar n tn I too had the septoplasty due to a deviated septum about 4 weeks ago in addition to the coblation. I'm breathing much better now, just dealing with seasonal allergies. Luckily it hasn't caused major or uncomfortable stuffiness. Vaccaro after the surgery were you able to breathe freely out of both nostrils? I feel that one side is not as clear as the other, but I believe it is b/c it was the most problematic.
Avatar f tn Then this bad infection and it was like being back to square one, minus the deviated septum (I had a deviation and over-enlarged turbs that at the time did not respond to meds, so those were trimmed lightly along with a straightened septum). I have almost no allergies, confirmed by the allergy tests. Hormones, humidity, and sleep positions effect me the most.
