Deviated septum neti pot

Common Questions and Answers about Deviated septum neti pot

deviated-septum

Avatar f tn I went back to the CT scan radiologist and said does that mean septum is straight as I cant have a deviated septum in 1998 and a central (straight ) septum in 2009. I was told the top Dr at the radiologist (In Australia) will look at the scan and advise me. So does central mean straight? I have had this sinus (icecream type headache) over my eyes and cheeks for about a month now. Sinus tablets and sprays hasnt helped.
Avatar m tn One of them was using a neti-pot. The neti-pot uses a saline solution to clean out your whole nasal passage. From my experience, I did not notice any reduction in patm from doing this. However, I did breathe a bit clearer. From my experience living with patm, I do not think this theory is the cause of it. At least we are thinking of different theories and testing them out to try and pinpoint whatever might be causing this mysterious enigma.
Avatar m tn m not sure if thats really the issue. I did go to a doctor and he said I have a deviated Septum, and this may be whats causing the odor. However I hardly ever have trouble breathing, again unless I'm sick, i do snore but it does not keep me up at night. My questions are: Is this true? Could a deviated septum be the cause of this odor? Will corrective surgery help? Is it the only option? I'm going for a second opinion today and will post once I hear the results.
Avatar f tn I had deviated septum surgery and had to use a neti pot type thing, its honestly AMAZING the relief you get from it. I kept using it for months after wards lol. At first its kinda scary and icky but once you get used to it, it is seriously pleasurable haha!
Avatar f tn Hi guys.. so my heart goes out to everyone who'se dealing with these symptoms.. because they are enough to really disable someone.. this has been going on for over 3 years now and it's just gotten severely worse this past year.. I just saw an ENT because of the constant pressure/fullness with both ears, nose is constantly clogged.. and sometimes it switches.. ENT only told me I had a deviated septum and that he didn't beleive in surgery..
Avatar m tn m actually still puzzled as to why my congestion will return even after using my Neti-pot? Is this usual with enlarged turbinates/deviated septum that the swelling would return after irrigation? Thank you for your reply!
Avatar f tn A pain at the top of the eyes is at the location of your frontal sinuses. A nasal spray will not reach that location because of gravity. One of the possibilities, and I just say possibility (because sinus problems are still a medical frontier) is a fungal infection. This is a rather recent discovery by the Mayo Clinic (Google: mayo sinus fungus). It won't necessarily cause a blockage, often a constant irritation and allergic reaction, which may or may not show up on a scan.
Avatar m tn sinus rinse with a NielMed bottle (you could use a neti pot but the bottle is more effective - most effective part of my allergy routine), antihistamine like Zyrtec or Allegra (generics would be fine), then prescription meds like a nasal steroid or antihistamine. You could try OTC GERD meds as well like Zantec, Prilosec, or Zegrid. See a dr so that you know exactly what to treat and feel better.
Avatar n tn I have noticed that my nose is slightly crooked and this was confirmed when an ENT told me that I have a deviated septum on the right side, but he just told me to use an antihistamine nasal spray and an allergy pill: Clarasil D. These medicines have had little effect. I also hear noises in my ears when I swallow. I hear a click/snap kind of noise, sometimes only in one ear and sometimes in both, when I swallow. I also hear this noise when I yawn.
Avatar f tn You have seen an Ear Nose and Throat doctor? Have you tried something called a neti pot? This could be very effective for you. https://www.mayoclinic.
Avatar n tn I can not breathe out of my nose and when i can its only out of one nostril, and sometimes it switches, well i have tryed everything, all the sprays, pills like zyrtec, allegra, claritan, back in september i went to an ent specialist, he said i had a deviated septum, so i had the surgery, well its februaary now and i still cannot breathe, I even tried a neti pot, i do not know what to do, in my nose theres like nothing there no mucous or anything like that, but most of the time it is breathing
Avatar f tn OK, I have used a "Neti Pot" u can get this at Walmart, it is cheap and it works, after you use it....mannnn. It feels so much better. They have saline packs that go in them too. This helps heal those tissues that are inflammed. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I would still suggest you to consult an ENT specialist about it as infected nasal sinuses, nasal polyps, hypertrophic rhinitis and deviated septum can cause dysosmia. Meanwhile you can try alternate therapies like hypnotherapy, yoga, and biofeedback.
Avatar n tn Also keep your head end elevated while sleeping and apply wet warm compresses on your face. You can also nasal lavage by bulb syringe or neti pot to rinse your nasal passages. If the symptoms are intense then pls consult an ENT specialist.Transillumination test and x-ray and CT sinuses may be required to confirm the diagnosis. I hope that helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.Kind regards.
Avatar m tn I agree with gymdandee and would also like to add that it is probably time for you to find another ENT! There is a new simple balloon surgical procedure that will open up your sinuses without cutting. For someone who has chronic sinus infections, it may be useful....you need to look for an ENT who does this procedure. STart googling the procedure and reading up on it, and search for a doctor that way. You might be a candidate for this....you never know.
565430 tn?1272695820 You are not alone with this problem. My husbands nose does the same thing except it doesn't matter if he's on his side. As a result, he breaths through his mouth when he sleeps and snores a lot. I guess I blamed it on a bad head injury from his childhood, but we've never had it examined. It probably would be a good idea to have it checked by a specialist and see what they say. If the sinus sprays works temporarily, have you tried a longer lasting oral antihistemine?
Avatar n tn I had an allergy test about 4 years ago. I found out that I'm allergic to almost everything, except foods and guinea pigs. I started the shots but had a bad reaction so I stopped. I also have a Neti Pot that I use, but I haven't noticed much difference. I'm going to try the vitamins and maybe find a new asthma specialist. Thanks for your help!
Avatar m tn I used to get a sinus type headache when ever i lent over my bench at work so i decided to use my private healthcare and go and see a consultant and they suggested i had my lower sinuses done and also to straighten my deviated septum. Everything went well for about a month and then the same symptoms started again so i went back to the consultant, he then suggested we did the upper sinuses and to straighten the septum some more. And this is where i have really suffered ever since.
Avatar f tn Hey everyone, I really need some help. I have been suffering with a stuffed nose for about 6 months now. Sometimes it's one nostril or both. Usually accompanied by a migraine / headache, and I just recently started getting body aches. It lasts all day. I also just recently (5 days ago) got a skin rash of aome sort, all over my stomach, back chest and now arms and neck. The doctor suspects it may just be Pityriasis Rosea, which i've had before. Still not positive on that.
Avatar f tn Will I have to have septum repaired? Is the septum causing my issues?? My dr isn’t helping me at all n I need answers.
Avatar m tn How long or how many times will you need to use a Neti Pot to feel a difference? I have been having awful sinus headaches and ringing (hissing) in my ears for about 10 days. This is after on and off sinus infections (or what I think are sinus infections) for months.
8711588 tn?1399453904 I suffer from chronic night-time (when in bed to sleep) nasal congestion. It responds well to the medication used in Afrin, which can not be used more than a few nights in a row. I have used a Netti Pot and not gotten any relief I can ascribe to the NP. However, repeated use of saline nasal spray helps - and I use a saline solution in the Netti Pot - so it should help, but the saline spray is much easier.
538090 tn?1213808112 I was diagnosed with a deviated septum and was told by my ENT specialist that i need a surgery ( September 8th, 2008) along with turbinate reduction. I was doing alright until I had a bout of flu four weeks ago and this made my life miserable. Then came along bronchitis which made my breathing through the mouth impossible. I am still having a little wheezing on my left chest and took an x-ray yesterday. I will have an answer within two days to see what the actual diagnosis will be.
Avatar n tn Chronic sinusitis can be due to allergic nasal polyps or tumors, allergic reactions, deviated nasal septum, trauma to the face, respiratory tract infections, allergies such as hay fever, immune system cells or cystic fibrosis. It is important to find out the cause of chronic sinusitis as then specific treatment can be started.Treatment varies from saline and steroid nasal sprays to decongestants and antibiotics. Some resistant cases may need surgery. As for the mucus removal, inhale plenty of steam.
846812 tn?1239034209 Maxillary sinusitis does cause cheek pain. Ethmoid sinusitis causes nose pain. Deviated nasal septum can be surgically corrected and will reduce your symptoms.Steam inhalation before bed time, raising the head end of bed, drinking plenty of hot fluids and doing deep breathing exercises too will help. Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Do consult your ENT about surgery of DNS and surgical drainage of sinuses.
