Common Questions and Answers about Deviated septum ent

Avatar m tn ve had chronic nose, mouth and throat problems for over 3 years!! ENT docs cannot find a reason. I do have a deviated septum and spur in my left nostril (not the cause of my other symptoms). Anyway, I can't use nasal sprays as I get nose bleeds. What I found myself in the pharmacy was NeilMed NasoGel. I've been using this and it does help a lot to clear up some of the stuffiness and helps to keep my nasal passages moist.
Avatar f tn s care, I decided to get to the bottom of my sinus issues and see an ENT. Once the CAT scan was done that showed a severely deviated septum which was so clear to the naked eye, I went ahead with the surgery that resulted seven procedures done on my nose and sinuses. My ENT said "you had a very messed up nose"! I asked how this happened and my ENT said it was probably congential and once I hit puberty it got progressively worse.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have a severely deviated septum on the left side and was getting a Covid swab by an overzealous nurse. She poked me all the way up the left side where my septum was deviated, felt resistance and kept going. I felt a sudden bout of pain and she finally retracted the swab. Two days later I wake up with clear salty liquid dripping down my throat. I also have a massive daily headache, eye pressure and sensitivity to light.
4556201 tn?1356445652 Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. In Elementary school, I fractured my nose pretty bad. Then in my early teens, I realized I had a 'bump' on the bridge, & a deviated septum. The 'bump' is caused by 2 super sharp bones sticking out. (It's so extreme/sharp that family & friends I let touch it were *all* really shocked by it, & assured me it was*not* normal.
Avatar n tn So I went to the ENT today and had them stick that scope up my nose and apparently I have a pretty bad deviated septum ... he gave me a script for a nasal spray and an antibiotic but I'm not sure what the antibiotic is for, I don't like taking antibiotics if I don't have to so I'm hesitant to take that. He mentioned surgery but for the possible future ... I'm hoping the nasal spray will help the allergies and the post nasal drip ...
Avatar m tn I saw an ENT recently who told me that I have a slightly deviated septum but I doubt that could be causing all of these problems. I drink plenty of water, I've tried decongestants, the ENT I saw prescribed an anti-inflammatory nasal spray (barely helped), I've tried pain killers which don't do much if anything, I've tried cold compresses, hot compresses. Nothing seem to works and this is making my day to day life a struggle. I'm looking for any suggestions, thanks.
1329703 tn?1275158081 I have a deviated septum that was found when my allergy shots started working but I still couldn't breathe through my nose. I also have mild sinus issues with them clogging and a mild infection (normally my immune system gets it under control within a week or so). I have the surgery in a couple of weeks so I can't comment on the long term affects yet but I'm hopeful it will help!
538090 tn?1213808112 I was diagnosed with a deviated septum and was told by my ENT specialist that i need a surgery ( September 8th, 2008) along with turbinate reduction. I was doing alright until I had a bout of flu four weeks ago and this made my life miserable. Then came along bronchitis which made my breathing through the mouth impossible. I am still having a little wheezing on my left chest and took an x-ray yesterday. I will have an answer within two days to see what the actual diagnosis will be.
Avatar f tn I got in to see the ENT dr a week ahead of schedule. I have chronic sinusitis, scars on both ears from past infections, and "fairly severe deviated septum,". He had trouble getting the scope up my nose, had to go to a smaller one. He put me on a "push" of prednisone, antibiotics, and Nasonex. Also scheduled a CT scan of sinus's in a month to see if infection is gone. Then he said we would decide what to do. My sx were a constant drippy nose, pressure in ears, headaches.
Avatar f tn i was told in a routine exam by ENT dr that i have a deviated septum(left nostril blocked-air comes out but not in!!) and that i have to have surgery to correct it. i can't say i have major issues with it. i sleep fine(hubby says i don't snore) and not with my mouth open like i've heard from other people. i have problems when i have a cold though and when i close my right nostril and try to breath in from my left i can't .
1452978 tn?1285110262 Has anyone had the sinus surgery and it helped the dizziness, off balance, and lightheaded feeling. I am have a deviated septum that is being correct. I am nervous I have never had surgery before but I am praying this takes care of the issues. Could someone please share their experiences with me, my surgery is Thursday. Thanks so much!
Avatar n tn I suggested maybe it was my sinuses, he did a CT scan of them and said my sinuses were clear, but I do have a severely deviated septum, which I do not think is contributing to these problems, since I have had no injuries to my nose, this would lead me to believe that I have had this issue all of my life (deviated septum). I have been checked for thyroid problems twice and my BP is good. I have seen a dentist and do not have TMJ or any abscesses.
Avatar f tn The headaches were also on the left side due to pressure from the clogged nostril. He told me I had a deviated septum. I scheduled surgery that day because he said he could fix my problem and make it easier to breathe. Well he did make it easier to breathe out of the clogged side, but he moved the septum too far and now I cannot breathe out of what was my "good" side. My headaches are worse than they were before the surgery.
Avatar f tn but doctor said I have heavy nasal septum deviation in left nose and also tonsils..he said due to septum deviation, tinnitus may occur....but never heard that nasal septum deviation can cause tinnitus....but important thing is..my left side nose is deviated,,my voice is hitting left ear,, and ringing in ear is also left only.
Avatar m tn i was diagnosed year 2007 with severe deviated septum prior to this i have been experiencing some weird feelings about my health throughout my childhood , teenage and adolescent years. Let me share you my experiences about my health so you could enlighten me if those weird feelings are related to sinusitis/deviated septum as what i am thinking of or you might have experience the same thing.
Avatar m tn Hello, thanks for taking my question. I'm sure as a doctor your time is quite limited, but is there any way you could take a peek at the webpage I made with my MRI images? (The coronal slices begain about halfway down the page): http://robsaysrelax.googlepages.
Avatar n tn Do you have a deviated septum? If the ENT does not know, then ask your ENT to do a scan, as it is not usually apparent externally. I believe part of the problem in my case is the following: There is something called the "nasal cycle", in which approximately every 2-4 hours your nostrils alternate being partially congested (left nostril 4 hours, then right, and so on).
Avatar m tn You should see an ENT surgeron to determine how bad the deviated septum is and how you can fix it (normally an easy day surgery - I took a week off of work from it but I was fine after 5 days - however mine was not bad enough to need to break my nose which would increase the recovery time).
Avatar f tn Might want to get an opinion from a ear, nose and throat doctor to see if breaking your nose has damaged your nose. It might have changed the deviated septum to a point that something should be done to fix it. Anything that is very painful and doesn't improve greatly within 24 hours should be seen by a doctor.
Avatar n tn Now the inside of my nose has been eaten away. I have been told by my ENT that I have a deviated septum now and acute chronic sinunitus. He gave me a great receipe for a nasal solution that helps but not enough. In the mornings, my nose is so dry and stopped up that it hurts. When I try to blow all the muscus out, it is dry and hard so it hurts terribly. I have used tweesers to help pull some out but it is getting annoying. It seems to be so far up my nose that I can't get to it easily.
