Avatar f tn I'm a 40 year and have a deviated septum since the age of 13 years of age. Over the years I just dought with it and giving it much thought. But for the last 5 year I've had noticed symptoms of headache, anxiety, virtigo, stomach problems such as gas, belching and as well as tightening of my throat when eating.got a CT scan and was told theirs inflammations and development A frontal ethmoid ,sphenoid & maxillary sinuses.
Avatar m tn I saw my ENT doctor this morning and she showed the result of CT scan. Indeed I have Deviated Septum and she suggests me to be operated. This Deviated Septum explains excessive mucus in my throat. However, I am still wandering if it causes some bloody mucus in my throat in the morning. For that I worry about my lungs.
Avatar f tn I got in to see the ENT dr a week ahead of schedule. I have chronic sinusitis, scars on both ears from past infections, and "fairly severe deviated septum,". He had trouble getting the scope up my nose, had to go to a smaller one. He put me on a "push" of prednisone, antibiotics, and Nasonex. Also scheduled a CT scan of sinus's in a month to see if infection is gone. Then he said we would decide what to do. My sx were a constant drippy nose, pressure in ears, headaches.
Avatar m tn Hi, Previously I had difficulties with breathing from my right side of my nose. After visiting my ENT, he claimed that there was a polyp so he suggested that I remove it. While doing that he would correct a "slight" deviated septum toward the same side, which were the 2 causes of my problem. His diagnosis came without a CT Scan and suggested that I undergo surgery. At that time, I was not aware of such a thing as a CT scan, so trusting on his diagnosis I underwent the surgery.
Avatar f tn The headaches were also on the left side due to pressure from the clogged nostril. He told me I had a deviated septum. I scheduled surgery that day because he said he could fix my problem and make it easier to breathe. Well he did make it easier to breathe out of the clogged side, but he moved the septum too far and now I cannot breathe out of what was my "good" side. My headaches are worse than they were before the surgery.
Avatar m tn when this happened more frequently, my ENT doc asked to get CT Scan which showed sinus infections mainly on right side and deviated septum towards right side. He told to take antibiotics and it would go away and nothing to worry about deviated septum as most people have it. I didn't feel much problem with sinus infection. But problem is frequent throat infections. After many visits my doctor diagnosed that i have tonsil deposits and he took white coloured structure from throat.
Avatar m tn Hello, For such accidental deviation of the nose middle bone, it is advisable to get a CT scan done and then consult an ENT surgeon as you may need to get a surgery done to restore the turbinate. If you mean to say that the septum has deviated then it may need septoplasty. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
Avatar n tn ve resorted solely to nasal sprays. After several blood tests no cause of my sinus infections was found. I had a CT scan which showed cysts on my sinuses confirming my sinusitis, but that was the "only abnormality" shown. Long story short it is now a year since my scan and it is to the point that I have to sit up in a recliner chair to sleep comfortably. I constantly feel sick and have sinus infections.
Avatar n tn I am constantly spitting out thick, clear mucous which, from my research on the internet, I suspect might be a fungal sinus infection. I've had a CT scan done which showed "slight mucosal thickening" and a right deviated septum (which I never had before this came on a year ago) - but nothing "major".
Avatar f tn Hey all, I'm getting slightly concerned about a lump on my nose. It's on the right side along the bridge. It's a few mm in size, but obviously on the nose it stands out a bit. Background information. I'm 27, Male, ex smoker. I have chronic sinusitis and a deviated septum, these will be operated on within the next couple of months so hopefully I'll be able to breathe again.
382218 tn?1341181487 Hi, I mentioned this probably a couple of years ago now, and am only now getting around to dealing with it. I'm awating an appt for a CT scan to check out my deviated septum and find out whether surgery will correct it. I'm not so concerned about getting the procedure if it will help. Just wondering if any of you have had this done, how was the recovery and do you notice a big difference afterwords? Any bad experiences with this?
Avatar n tn I suggested maybe it was my sinuses, he did a CT scan of them and said my sinuses were clear, but I do have a severely deviated septum, which I do not think is contributing to these problems, since I have had no injuries to my nose, this would lead me to believe that I have had this issue all of my life (deviated septum). I have been checked for thyroid problems twice and my BP is good. I have seen a dentist and do not have TMJ or any abscesses.
Avatar m tn A nasal examination can detect problems with the cavity and the septum. For more detailed study a CT scan may be needed. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
679481 tn?1226444296 I am not totally sure, but I think it is possible to have a sinus infection and not see it on a CT scan. I believe that CT Scans will only show mucosal thickening which may not happen initially. The low grade fever certainly suggests a possible infection of some sort. You didn't mention it in your post, but have they tried you on a course of antibiotics? You should also ask your doctor about nasal irrigation. Also, don't be afraid to get a second opinion from another ENT.
Avatar n tn re only getting worse. My CT scan was negative for chronic sinusitis but showed a slight deviated septum with a bone spur. The congestion was not in my sinuses but rather in my upper nasal cavity. My nose isn't realIy runny but I get a ton of post nasal drip that makes me feel as though I am drowning. I got allergy testing done and I am not allergic to anything.
Avatar m tn The breathing trouble and sniffling occurs more so when I am moving around. I have been allergy tested and found that allergies is not the issue. I also had a CT scan done on my sinus area and was told it was clear. I would like to mention that I had deviated septum surgery about five years ago. These issues are really starting to affect my quality of life, and feel I feel hopeless. Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Avatar m tn So i thought i had a case of chronic sinusitis. which i did about 3 years ago. never really paid it much notice past the antibiotics i took. a while later i didn't have the same level of postnasal dripping or any of the other symptoms except for a slowly degrading sense of smell. until at one point i realized that i no longer have a sense of smell. now i do get hours of a day every not so often where i smell, sometimes better than others. as a general rule, i don't smell.
Avatar n tn hello I was just diagnosed with chronic sinusitis thru a CT scan. The only symptom that is driving me crazy is constant thick white mucus in my throat or chest ? it is impairing my breathing and making me wheeze. I have been to the pulmonologist and had lung function test and those numbers were good . I look up sinusitis symptoms, but rarely do I find anyone who has issue with mucus and breathing unless its thru their nose . The Dr thinks I may have chronic sinusitis from a deviated septum ..
Avatar f tn Hi, Primary headache such as migraine may be caused by triggers such as food, weather or hormones. However, anatomical issues such as deviated nasal septum may also cause headaches and may need to be managed also to prevent recurrences. It is best that you talk to your doctor about this for proper management. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn Over the past 2 1/2 to 3 months I have suffered from pressure behind my eyes which has bothered me most upon waking up and when doing sitting, focused work like working at the computer, reading, or driving. For the first few weeks when the pressure was very great I also had on and off dull headaches or flashes of pain, reminiscent of sinus pressure but without any congestion whatsoever.
Avatar f tn After several different doctors, I was told that I had trigeminal neuralgia as well as a deviated septum. I eventually had laser surgery for the trigeminal neuralgia, but the a facial pain continues. The nerve pain has subsided, but I continue to have facial pain on my left side. The pain seems to get worse if I lean my head to that side. This occurred a few years ago, and after several months of taking seizure medication and lortab, I was not getting any better.
846812 tn?1239034209 I have been suffering from sinusitis but the cheek pain is unexplainable as sinus does not cause such severe pain. My CT scan report suggests bilateral "ethmoid and left maxillary chronic sinusitis with deviated nasal spectrum". I have taken treatment from best of the ENT specialists but found no relief. Medicines don't show any effect. On the contrary they have brought a lot of anxiety and my memory is getting weak.
Avatar f tn Hi, the common cause for sinusitis is Deviated nasal septum (DNS). This condition leads to obstruction. This can lead to sinus infection, ear infection and headaches. The septoplasty or rhinoplasty for deviated nasal septum (DNS) will help you to relieve your symptoms. If sinusitis cannot be managed with medication; surgical drainage would be definitive therapy. I suggest you to consult ENT surgeon for further management. Take care and regards.
