I've been diagnost with a deviated septum and excercised induced astma and was wondering if any one had septum fixed? Would it help with sinus infections and breathing for asthma? Any deviated septum repair stories out there?
I have noticed that the sit of my nose where my deviated septum had been seems to still be significantly inflamed and that the generalized area around where the maxillary sinus would be hurts as well. Perhaps the most annoying, is the fact that my upper left molars kill. is this likely just residual inflammation from the surgery itself? i do know there was a good amount of infection in the left maxillary prior to my surgery, so wondering if this is just aggravated by the surgery.
Hi, I have a severely deviated septum on the left side and was getting a Covid swab by an overzealous nurse. She poked me all the way up the left side where my septum was deviated, felt resistance and kept going. I felt a sudden bout of pain and she finally retracted the swab.
Two days later I wake up with clear salty liquid dripping down my throat. I also have a massive daily headache, eye pressure and sensitivity to light.

Hi, a deviated nasal septum can cause an obstruction to breathing and correction will ensure that your symptoms will improve. But this may not help correct the post nasal drip. Post nasal drip could be due to a sinus infection, a cold or a chronic allergy. These can lead to a post nasal drip and lead to an irritation in the throat. It could be sinusitis, if it is accompanied by nasal stuffiness and facial pain or pressure. Post nasal drip could also be due to allergens.
So for several years now I've suffered from pain in my upper cheeks, forehead, and the bridge of my nose. There is noticeable swelling in those areas but it is minor. My father and sister deal with sinus problems but up until recently I didn't think this was sinus related because I have no nasal congestion but the pain is exactly where all my sinuses are. I saw an ENT recently who told me that I have a slightly deviated septum but I doubt that could be causing all of these problems.
The headaches were also on the left side due to pressure from the clogged nostril. He told me I had a deviated septum. I scheduled surgery that day because he said he could fix my problem and make it easier to breathe. Well he did make it easier to breathe out of the clogged side, but he moved the septum too far and now I cannot breathe out of what was my "good" side. My headaches are worse than they were before the surgery.
i also have a deviated septum and when it finally blew, it was the most disgusting thing i have seen. i recently quit coke, and my nose was bleeding and in pain for over a month and i kept getting those huge chunks, blah. now my nose is so much better and not in pain at all, but that hole will always be there.
i think it's time you quit and got some help as with this damage to your nose, i bet your not getting very high off it anymore.
Just read your posting from six months ago as I explore why I had a severely deviated septum and it struck a chord. I had septoplasty, sinus surgery and turbinate reduction two years ago and it was the best thing I had done for myself in years. Unfortunately, I did not realize my problem until I was in my early 50s after suffering countless sinus infections while dealing with severe environmental allergies that were all diminishing my quality of life.
For temporary relief, since your septum is deviated to the left, you can lie in bed on your right side and if you notice after 5 min your septum will fall towards the right giving you more breathing room on the left.
The question on whether or not you will need to go through the operation would be best suited for your doctor to advise you on.
I suggested maybe it was my sinuses, he did a CT scan of them and said my sinuses were clear, but I do have a severely deviated septum, which I do not think is contributing to these problems, since I have had no injuries to my nose, this would lead me to believe that I have had this issue all of my life (deviated septum). I have been checked for thyroid problems twice and my BP is good. I have seen a dentist and do not have TMJ or any abscesses.
My dietary advice still stands, but there is nothing about the diet that can fix a deviated septum. If the deviated septum is preventing you from breathing properly during sleep, then I think you should do what you need to do to get it fixed. Then you can ALSO address systemic inflammation, if you are still having symptoms. Again, best of luck.
I was diagnosed with a cyst in each of my maxillary sinuses and a badly deviated septum. I have been dizzy, terrible teeth and jaw pain as well as facial pain and pressure. The dr prescribed Allegra, singular, Flonase and Asteleine nasal sprays. I am not having any relief. I was on the Asteline sir 2. -3 weeks now and the other 3 meds I just started. 2 weeks ago I had a ctscan and it didn’t show an infection. My teeth didn’t hurt then just had a headache and pressure.
I got whacked in the nose with an elbow playing basketball about 20 years ago. It bled like you wouldn't believe and since then I've had sort of a "Roman nose" effect on the bridge of my nose. This was when I was living in southern California where I grew up. I moved to the Seattle area 10 years ago and about a year after I got here I came down with what turned out to be a BAD sinus infection. It lasted about 6 months, chronic coughing, pressure in my face, etc.

After several different doctors, I was told that I had trigeminal neuralgia as well as a deviated septum. I eventually had laser surgery for the trigeminal neuralgia, but the a facial pain continues. The nerve pain has subsided, but I continue to have facial pain on my left side. The pain seems to get worse if I lean my head to that side. This occurred a few years ago, and after several months of taking seizure medication and lortab, I was not getting any better.
d recommend the septoplasty, as a deviated septum can cause drainage problems as well as breathing problems, and a sinus flush would get more risky as you get older.
However, based on the many stories I've seen here, including worst-case scenarios like irishghost, I would resist anybody messing with my turbinates.
i began to worry about my health i started researching about my problem in the internet and found out that i have deviated septum. but still not 100% sure about it so i also consulted an ENT. it took me almost half of my life to determine the problem in my nose that had altered my life. I had my deviated septum fix but didnt fix it 100% as they informed me that it may take 2 operation to entirely fix it as it was completely deviated to the left and its all crooked up to the back of my nose.
My strong feeling is that since the septum is deviated the opening are small and they get blocked easily when the blood vessels in my nose become swollen due to irritants or blowing. I want to make a point here. My nose gets blocked my stuff in my nose and also due to swollen blood vessels. Blowing removes the stuff in my nose but irritates my nose and the blood vessels become swollen. So there will still be blockage in my nose and hence not much relief.

Hello, I wanted to know the risksof having a deviated septum fixed. I had this problem for over 10 years and it seems to keep coming back. I had it fix twice before. I am noticing that the cartilage in my nose seems less so I am concerned. I don't want to have to keep getting surgery to correct my deviated septum. Is there any other options (besides nose sprays)?
