deviated septum and neti pot

I went back to the CT scan radiologist and said does that mean septum is straight as I cant have a deviated septum in 1998 and a central (straight ) septum in 2009. I was told the top Dr at the radiologist (In Australia) will look at the scan and advise me. So does central mean straight? I have had this sinus (icecream type headache) over my eyes and cheeks for about a month now. Sinus tablets and sprays hasnt helped.

t sound to farfetched to me personally. I have a lightly deviated septum and things could be stuck in my nose and when I breath in and out in a closed room people get in contact with these allergens which causes them to sneeze, cough ect. I'm treating it with fysiomer which is a solution for the nose with salt and I must say I'm sneezing and coughing myself now while mucus comes out of my nose.

m not sure if thats really the issue. I did go to a doctor and he said I have a deviated Septum, and this may be whats causing the odor. However I hardly ever have trouble breathing, again unless I'm sick, i do snore but it does not keep me up at night. My questions are: Is this true? Could a deviated septum be the cause of this odor? Will corrective surgery help? Is it the only option? I'm going for a second opinion today and will post once I hear the results.

I had deviated septum surgery and had to use a neti pot type thing, its honestly AMAZING the relief you get from it. I kept using it for months after wards lol. At first its kinda scary and icky but once you get used to it, it is seriously pleasurable haha!

A pain at the top of the eyes is at the location of your frontal sinuses. A nasal spray will not reach that location because of gravity. One of the possibilities, and I just say possibility (because sinus problems are still a medical frontier) is a fungal infection. This is a rather recent discovery by the Mayo Clinic (Google: mayo sinus fungus). It won't necessarily cause a blockage, often a constant irritation and allergic reaction, which may or may not show up on a scan.

t stand this anymore, nothing I do improves anything.. have tried allergy pills, nose sprays, neti pot.. and nothing.. also had a ct scan and that didn't show anything.. also my neck is so stiff and the pain goes down to my shoulders.. starting to really wonder if I have a more serious illness that just no one is able to detect.. All i know is that I can't live like this any longer.. I don't know what to do to make these symptoms bearable. Any suggestions??

m actually still puzzled as to why my congestion will return even after using my Neti-pot? Is this usual with enlarged turbinates/deviated septum that the swelling would return after irrigation? Thank you for your reply!

Hi, welcome to the forum, the important causes needed to be ruled out are Deviated nasal septum (DNS) and allergic rhinitis. These conditions can lead to sinus infection, ear infection and headaches. Other possibilities are laryngeal web, asthma, any structural abnormalities in the nasal passage such as nasal polyps, hypertrophied turbinates etc. Recurrent infection is sign of low immunity. You need to increase immunity by proper nutritious food, regular exercise, mental fitness etc.

What is more, I went to an ENT just weeks ago in 2018, had a CT scan of the sinuses done, and the ENT tells me that the result is that I have a deviated septum, AGAIN, and will need a repeat surgery for that and to shave down the turbinates. This is ridiculous. I cannot have a septoplasty every 10 years, and furthermore, it accomplished nothing and relieved none of my symptoms the first time! I feel like these forums are pretty useless as well.

I would still suggest you to consult an ENT specialist about it as infected nasal sinuses, nasal polyps, hypertrophic rhinitis and deviated septum can cause dysosmia. Meanwhile you can try alternate therapies like hypnotherapy, yoga, and biofeedback.

I can not breathe out of my nose and when i can its only out of one nostril, and sometimes it switches, well i have tryed everything, all the sprays, pills like zyrtec, allegra, claritan, back in september i went to an ent specialist, he said i had a deviated septum, so i had the surgery, well its februaary now and i still cannot breathe, I even tried a neti pot, i do not know what to do, in my nose theres like nothing there no mucous or anything like that, but most of the time it is breathing

OK, I have used a "Neti Pot" u can get this at Walmart, it is cheap and it works, after you use it....mannnn. It feels so much better. They have saline packs that go in them too. This helps heal those tissues that are inflammed. Good luck!

Decreased the constant nasal congestion slightly, and enough to show that part of my problem is not only allergies but also a deviated septum which is not allowing me to breathe properly through my nose. Vitamin D, omega 3 fatty acids and B vitamins are suppose to help with inflammation (although I don't see a big difference, might work differently for you). Nasal rinsing also helped me get my allergies into check. I use the neil-med system with a bottle and pre packaged salts.

I agree with gymdandee and would also like to add that it is probably time for you to find another ENT! There is a new simple balloon surgical procedure that will open up your sinuses without cutting. For someone who has chronic sinus infections, it may be useful....you need to look for an ENT who does this procedure. STart googling the procedure and reading up on it, and search for a doctor that way. You might be a candidate for this....you never know.

But all the medicines are in vain. Morning is the worst when I get up as everything is blocked nose and throat and I cough and spit out a lot of thick mucous for first 30-40 minutes. Any help on this would be great.

M SURE at this time in your life, you should do these things I list, which they will not hurt you. And I think your basic trouble came from your nose issues and deviated septum and what all they did about it.

I was diagnosed with a cyst in each of my maxillary sinuses and a badly deviated septum. I have been dizzy, terrible teeth and jaw pain as well as facial pain and pressure. The dr prescribed Allegra, singular, Flonase and Asteleine nasal sprays. I am not having any relief. I was on the Asteline sir 2. -3 weeks now and the other 3 meds I just started. 2 weeks ago I had a ctscan and it didn’t show an infection. My teeth didn’t hurt then just had a headache and pressure.

I've been diagnost with a deviated septum and excercised induced astma and was wondering if any one had septum fixed? Would it help with sinus infections and breathing for asthma? Any deviated septum repair stories out there?

I used to get a sinus type headache when ever i lent over my bench at work so i decided to use my private healthcare and go and see a consultant and they suggested i had my lower sinuses done and also to straighten my deviated septum. Everything went well for about a month and then the same symptoms started again so i went back to the consultant, he then suggested we did the upper sinuses and to straighten the septum some more. And this is where i have really suffered ever since.

He uses a neti pot and saline solution to clean the sinuses, stays well hydrated, and uses antibiotics when necessary. If you have the aching teeth, a bottle of pills in the drug store called "cold medication" helps a great deal. There is a daytime and nightime formulation. If you check the dental forums, you will find references to sinus infections and failed root canals, and tooth extractions.

Hey everyone, I really need some help. I have been suffering with a stuffed nose for about 6 months now. Sometimes it's one nostril or both. Usually accompanied by a migraine / headache, and I just recently started getting body aches. It lasts all day. I also just recently (5 days ago) got a skin rash of aome sort, all over my stomach, back chest and now arms and neck. The doctor suspects it may just be Pityriasis Rosea, which i've had before. Still not positive on that.

My ent doc says I have polyps, deviated septum and a bone spur but surgery is questionable. I wish I could give you some advice but nothing seems to help me very much. I am going to see a different ent soon.

I suffer from chronic night-time (when in bed to sleep) nasal congestion. It responds well to the medication used in Afrin, which can not be used more than a few nights in a row. I have used a Netti Pot and not gotten any relief I can ascribe to the NP. However, repeated use of saline nasal spray helps - and I use a saline solution in the Netti Pot - so it should help, but the saline spray is much easier.
