m going to make this as brief as possible. I went to a doctor complaining about headaches and not being able to breathe on the left side of my nose. The headaches were also on the left side due to pressure from the clogged nostril. He told me I had a deviated septum. I scheduled surgery that day because he said he could fix my problem and make it easier to breathe.

My question is I saw a Doc in dec 06 he said I allergies went on Zyrtec D came back a year later he said I still seemed bad sent me to a ENT which in return said I had a Deviated septum and allergies that I could get the septum fixed if I wanted to. Still not felling better I went to see one of the Top allergy docs here in Chicago he said I have Neirogenic Rhinitis Syndrome. I kinda know what it is but I cant find anything else on it. Were can I look? I have googled it to no end.

I’m a 41 year old male, 6ft-2in tall and 180 lbs in overall good health, other than almost daily headaches and brain fog, with migraine headaches every 2 to 4 weeks that last between 12 hours and 4 days. The last 6 months the brain fog seems to be getting worse, making it hard to focus and concentrate at work. I work as an engineer in an office environment and spend a lot of time staring at a computer screen.
I havent used that nosespray in over 6 months.
I've been diagnost with a deviated septum and excercised induced astma and was wondering if any one had septum fixed? Would it help with sinus infections and breathing for asthma? Any deviated septum repair stories out there?
I got in to see the ENT dr a week ahead of schedule. I have chronic sinusitis, scars on both ears from past infections, and "fairly severe deviated septum,". He had trouble getting the scope up my nose, had to go to a smaller one. He put me on a "push" of prednisone, antibiotics, and Nasonex. Also scheduled a CT scan of sinus's in a month to see if infection is gone. Then he said we would decide what to do. My sx were a constant drippy nose, pressure in ears, headaches.
My husband had deviated septum surgery several years ago to help aleviate his severe headaches which are connected to his sinuses. It didn't help AT ALL. He still suffers terrible headaches and sinus pressure. We paid a lot of money only for him to be in a lot of pain for a few days and he also had a nasal hemmorage afterward which was pretty scary.

when i was 17 i had the hottest girlfriend you could possibly dream of and then i swear to god as soon as i turned 18 my nose actually got bigger. i got in a fight and i broke my nose and i had a deviated septum. the doctor told me he recommends surgery and i was soo happy cuz i thought my nose would be beautiful again, but actually after the surgery it looks pretty much the same.
ive been having sinus problems for months now i finally got results of my can scan and i dont know exactly what was said by heart..but i have a deviated septum,enlarged turbinates,puse is my left maxillary sinus,and i think she said an air pocket also..so im suppose to get surgery done in april..the 3 listed are septoplasty,endoscopic sinus,and turbinectomy..i have no problem with any of these except what i read about the turbinectomy when it comes to empty nose syndrome..
d recommend the septoplasty, as a deviated septum can cause drainage problems as well as breathing problems, and a sinus flush would get more risky as you get older.
However, based on the many stories I've seen here, including worst-case scenarios like irishghost, I would resist anybody messing with my turbinates.
I think that you have been taken for a ride getting wisdom teeth removed to help your headaches as well as surgery on a deviated septum. I also have a deviated septum which my ENT specialist said would not affect the headaches at all and would only give me a slightly better sinus.
A lot of times, there is no known cause for daily headaches. Most of the time, the CT scans or MRIs are to rule out more serious conditions, like multiple sclerosis or a stroke.
To be honest, everyone has a deviated nasal septum, whether or not they had trauma. If your nasal congestion is back, then you may want to talk to your surgeon about further corrective measures. I have been getting sinus infections for about 3.5 years now and they're only getting worse. My CT scan was negative for chronic sinusitis but showed a slight deviated septum with a bone spur. The congestion was not in my sinuses but rather in my upper nasal cavity. My nose isn't realIy runny but I get a ton of post nasal drip that makes me feel as though I am drowning. I got allergy testing done and I am not allergic to anything.
I have deviated septum. I am prone to sinus infections and massive sinus headaches. I wake up and the right side of my nose is plugged up. I was wondering if getting nebulizer would help this? I do not want the surgery because I was told by another doctor who had it done that it is more pain that he bargained for.
Having that said you do have sinus disease in one sinus cavity, but not a massive amount. You had stated you have a deviated septum and those are things to just ignore and wish it away. With the Sinuse Surgery the doctor would be able to correct this problem along with a good clean out of all sinus cavities. I believe you would a great amount of releif after a sinus surgery. I know I was amazed at how well I could breath and that I didn't have chronic sinus pain all day.
I think I have tried all allergy meds available and none work any better than claritin. My teeth hurt and I often get headaches. Saline sprays are too uncomfortable. I have felt run down for the last week. I thought about making a dr appt but don't want to waste the $ to be told it's allergies. Any ideas what else to try? Ice behind my ears sometimes helps, heat makes it worse.
For temporary relief, since your septum is deviated to the left, you can lie in bed on your right side and if you notice after 5 min your septum will fall towards the right giving you more breathing room on the left.

I got whacked in the nose with an elbow playing basketball about 20 years ago. It bled like you wouldn't believe and since then I've had sort of a "Roman nose" effect on the bridge of my nose.
