Avatar m tn If the EKG output of the ST is greater than 2mm (-1.75), that could indicate mild ischemia. ST segment depression (horizontal or downsloping) is the most reliable indicator of exercise-induced ischaemia. •Horizontal ST segment depression of less than 2 mm (-1.73). Although you haven't stated it, it appears the test was terminated due to abnormal ST. Induced ischemia indicates some vessel occlusion(s).

Avatar n tn Regarding follow up, it is important that you have a baseline neurologic exam with detailed motor exam performed by your neurologist, and subsequent exams after the treatment. Probably a week or two into the treatment. The follow up exams are more objective if performed by the same physician. According to this, and to what the patient experiences, the duration of treatment can be decided.
Avatar m tn Happy Birthday, and best wishes starting your new Harvoni treatment!
Avatar m tn I was first diagnosed with Hep C in 2001 after probably contracting virus in 1969. Genotype 1. As my health was generally good I have waiting for improvements in SOC treatment success. Levels generally around 400,000, ALT 55. at I have taken the leap and am now 12 weeks into SOC & Filibuvir/placebo clinical trial. I had >2.09 log reduction at week 4 and < 15 at week 8. Undetectable. No RVR but EVR which is quite the difference in treatment duration.
Avatar f tn I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but since you were DET at week 4, the treatment protocol is for you to continue Interferon and Ribavirin for a total of 48 weeks. You have treated about 14 weeks so you actually should continue Interferon and Ribavirin for another 34 weeks. I know that sounds like a long time, but the fact that you were still DET at weeks 4 means your chances of attaining SVR (cure) are lower and they are a lot lower if you treat for only 24 weeks total.

8411000 tn?1464556711 Does anyone know about the Shoemaker protocol? I talked to a gal on the phone today who works in an LLND office. She was kind enough to take some time out of her day and give me some info on their clinic. I believe that they utilize the Shoemaker protocol. She told me that some people are genetically predisposed in not being able to get rid of biotoxins. They do testing that costs $1500, but supposedly it's the best testing on the market.

Avatar m tn Hello dear and welcome to the welcome to the medhelp forum. Management of obstructive hydrocephalus from aqueductal stenosis is the same as for other causes. This could mean diverting the cerebrospinal fluid flow with a shunt or third ventriculostomy done endoscopically. The lesion at the posterior third ventricle needs to be evaluated. Whether it is a cyst or tumor, which is the cause for aqueduct stenosis, management would be different.
Avatar f tn Yes there will be an issue and she will most likely not be accepted to the methondone clinic and then kicked out of the other doctors program. Treatment doctors have very strict protocol and very strict narcotic contracts as they should and will not put up with this kind of thing because if her suboxone doctors appt is two weeks away and she only has 4 days left that shows she is taking to much suboxone and running out early.
Avatar f tn "Do you think it is not possible to put Lyme disease into remission without antibiotics? " That's my opinion, yes. But there will be others who think just the opposite. After you read (and read and read and read) viewpoints of the best Lyme doctors you'll be able to make up your own mind. Please read the information at www.ilads.org and see what you think.

1722607 tn?1335747858 Has anyone here skipped the pre treatment exams and just went straight to treatment? I also mentioned before that he says a liver biopsy is not needed. Just concerned and would like to hear your opinion, thank you!
Avatar m tn This treatment protocol is also mentioned on page 1344 of the 2009 AASLD Practice Guidelines; although no specific recommendations are given. http://www.aasld.org/practiceguidelines/Documents/Hepatitis%20C%20UPDATE.
Avatar f tn You should ask that nurse for a handout of written instructions. Is this for imaging or ablation treatment? Have you had this procedure before and were quarantined? You can also ask the Dr. what dose you will be receiving and if it is I 131 or I 123.
