Common Questions and Answers about Depression treatment pregnancy

Avatar f tn One day I just felt so vile that I went crying to my midwife and now I've beem referred for treatment to help my anxiety and depression. If you want to private message me and talk/vent you can, sometimes it's better to talk to someone you dont know in person. But i do suggest going to your midwife or doctor as they can help you.
Avatar f tn Any time during pregnancy you think you might be depressed you need to talk to your doctor, it could turn into ppd after baby is born. It's better to gey a head start on treatment than wait.
Avatar f tn Depression is real and common in pregnancy. Please talk to someone about what's going on. You are not alone. We girls on this app always have an ear and or shoulder that you can cry on. Please talk to someone. It's okay. We all get overwhelmed sometimes, but we do have each other to talk it through with. I'm praying for you...keep your head up.
Avatar f tn Is it possible to experience post partum depression before delivering? I'm 22 weeks and I'm feeling so depressed. So many changes, a lot of stress, my fiancé and I are splitting up, money is bad since I have had to be off work with no pay, trying to make sure my oldest daughter has all she needs for her senior year, I have to be moved out of my place by May 31st and I still can't lift or twist since having abdominal surgery, I don't have an appetite, and I haven't slept well in weeks.
8264857 tn?1402102733 Currently going to therapy twice a week and on medication that is proven safe to use during pregnancy. My doctors are discussing the idea of a psychiatrist if I do not start seeing a progression in my treatment soon. No one I know understands what I'm going through and tells me to pick my self up and move on. Is anyone else experiencing this or anything comparable?

304970 tn?1331429594 Zoloft and Lexapro are also good Class C SSRI's for treating depression during pregnancy but Paxil should be avoided at all costs - it is now a Class D drug. Depending on the drug taken, some doctors will wean you off the antidepressant or decrease dosage in the latter part of the 3rd trimester as a small percentage of babys will experience withdrawal effects (typically pretty mild) during the 1st few days after delivery.
Avatar n tn There is treatment - your depression needs treatment (hope that is going on now). I suggest a different doc. I hope he just didn't leave it at that. If you have hcv you should automatically have a liver biopsy. Depending on the results and other factors a decision to treat or not treat can be made. There is definitely a treatment available.
Avatar n tn I forgot to mention I have endometriosis and am looking at a hysterectomy when I am done having children. My doctor says the best treatment for endo. is pregnancy and I am not opposed. I just don't want to keep going through miscarriages. On days like these I feel like having a hystorectomy at 31. I am sorry to be so wordy, I just needed to vent I guess things are getting frustrating. I hope the best to all the preggers on the list and baby dust to all of you TTC.

Avatar f tn your only 8 weeks, the first trimester is scary for everyone. even those who have been planning their pregnancy get "cold feet" in the beginning when it becomes a reality that their life is going to change.
Avatar n tn It is so weird, because I was just discussing this topic with friends yesterday and I feel like I may have a slight case. My son is 7 months old. I just have days when all I want to do is cry. At first I thought it may be the fact that I dont get to spend as much time with him during the day as I would like, but Stacie, do you mind telling me how you were diagnosed? If this is what is causing my "bad days" I would like to take the steps necessary to control it. Thanks.
Avatar f tn Most men just don't get the fact that women go through all kinds of hormonal changes during pregnancy and we honestly can not help being emotional and crying over anything and everything. It doesn't sound like he is very supportive at all. You need to find someone, a trusted friend, parent, sibling, counselor...someone you can talk to. It really helps to get those feelings out. To be around someone who will allow you to cry to your hearts content without judging you or putting you down.
Avatar n tn Even though everyone around me warns me that early pregnancy depression is very common, and that they got over it and so can I. Thank you all. I will keep you posted on what I decide. I am taking really good care of myself and next week i have my first doctor's appointment. So while it is in me, I will embrace it and care for it with all of me despite my worries. thanks again.
Avatar f tn Women who are predisposed to depression and anxiety or have experience lt in the past are much more likely to have depression and anxiety during pregnancy and after pregnancy. It can require treatment (therapy and or medication) as it can become worse once baby is born (post partum depression). If you start treatment prior to delivery there is much more of a chance of avoiding post partum depression. I hope this helps.
537639 tn?1232057169 Interferon alpha is given by injection just under the skin and has a number of side effects, including flu-like symptoms, headaches, fever, fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, depression, and thinning of hair. Treatment with interferon alpha may also interfere with the production of white blood cells and platelets. Ribavirin is a capsule taken twice daily, and the major side effect is severe anemia (low red blood cells). Ribavirin also causes birth defects.
767308 tn?1236695312 I have never heard of steroids for thyroid treatment. I am sure whomever had the steroid treatment was probably treating something besides thyroid cause that just doesn't make sense to me. Good Luck!
Avatar f tn I actually have struggled with this issue in my current pregnancy. Talked to my doctor and she said depression caused by hormones. It is not fun and I have to hide it because most people don't understand. I do a lot of faking. And I cry alone. :-) I truly think it's temporary. Hopefully after baby, it gets better. Keep your chin up! Message me if you need am understanding non judgmental ear! I really have been working to find the good on the day.
Avatar f tn I'm not really sure if you are asking me about her first time in treatment, or the one she is in now. The treatment center she entered yesterday is a 5 day medical detox from oxy, they were going to use clondinine (?) for the anxiety, but her BP is too low, they did start her on suboxone tonight once the w/d's were strong. Please know I am not passing judgement on anyone, or what they have used to beat addiction, but she will be on the Sub for only 5 days.
Avatar f tn i talk to some close family about it and they said it could be gestional depression during pregnancy. i'm not depressed about the baby i was very happy when we found out. it's only when i'm at home alone and think about realitly with him not being here. i no i should go to my dr. about this. but in a way it's kind of scary thinking you could actually be depressed. does anyone no what is going on with me or what i should do? please help...
178590 tn?1294180367 just wondering if anyone else is suffering and if so what kinds of treatment have you looked into if any? Or are you just riding it out?
Avatar f tn it may help to focus on your family or try to find things that do make you happy, however if it is severe you may want to think about medication, I know during pregnancy we don't really want to take any medications, but there are some that are supposed to be safe during pregnancy, I am 27 weeks pregnant and I currently take wellbutrin for depression, it is supposed to be safe during all stages of pregnancy and while breastfeeding (and i have gotten several second opinions on this medication, to
