Common Questions and Answers about Depression treatment oregon

Avatar f tn I don't know why the doctors would be refusing Hepatitis C treatment for people with Depression. Interferon can cause Depression but you won't be using Interferon. There are Interferon free treatments available. Even with Interferon treatments, the doctors treated people with Depression unless they were very unstable or suicidal. I have a long history of Depression and I treated in 2011-2012 for 48 weeks with Interferon, Ribavirin, and Incivek. I did fine.
Avatar m tn Many people think that drinking alcohol, smoking pot and snorting the cocaine is the coolest thing to do. Whether under the influence of friends or due to mere curiosity, several people start drinking alcohol or taking drugs as just-a-fun-thing. But with time, the alcohol and weed take a hold of you and never leaves you to be at peace until you take it.
1408210 tn?1340200372 This is my first post on this topic. I was diagnosed years ago with depression and I have tried all the meds available and none help, so I have been winging it on my own, so to speak. I am a 70 yr old female with a family history of alcoholism on one branch of the family tree.
Avatar m tn Hi. I had to google Fetzima to learn about side effects. What the drug targets ect. Even if I had experience with this drug, you are different. Please take the medication with an open mind and a positive attitude. Give the pills every chance to work for you. Everyone knows cutting out sugar, soda & junk food helps depression. Exercise too. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I am receiving acupuncture for the withdrawal, as well as Bach Flower Remedies, and a homeopathic treatment for the depression. I think getting off of Tramadol is one of the hardest things I have ever done. I think of you Suedeva, I hope your pain is being managed. Keep going and get off this stuff, there has to be a better way, my friend!
Avatar n tn I have been treated for depression with many meds over the last 20 years. Most recently, my doctor has suggested that she sees me as mildly bipolar and has suggested mood stabilizing meds. I have been on 40 mg of Geodon over the last 2 months. It has been helpful for sleep however I wake entirely unrested and with physical aches esp of neck and shoulders. Weakness and malaise. At this level my depression is not quite controlled either.
748543 tn?1463449675 For the past few weeks I have been throwing around ideas as to the best way to respond to this matter. You see a recent article ( Feb.3 , 2009 NY times) titled "Best treatment for TMJ May be Nothing" nearly made me clench my jaw to pieces. While well written, I found that the author, Ms. Brody, relied heavily on out dated and narrow perspective supplied to her by a small group of dentists.
Avatar n tn Does anyone live in Oregon/Washington with this? Just got diagnosed about 11/2 months ago. The doctor who diagnosed this told me- I have one of the WORST cases of Anismus he's seen in the 19 years of specializing. I don't know much about the out come with long it usually lasts or if it even gets better. Please give me some input from your experience. Thanks you and Take care.
612876 tn?1355518095 So regardless of the process you took along the way, please select the most specialized/advanced care you have sought out for testing and/or treatment. And by all means, leave comments and let us know what has worked for you, what hasn't, and what your hopes for future care are!
Avatar n tn They know just what treatment is appropiate even though they aren't doctors, nor have ever seen me for treatment. It's almost as if they just look up treatment stuff in a big book, the book that knows how to treat me better than my expert doctor who wasted all that time in medical school! Anyhow, I just thought that I would even it up with those petty bastards - for every time they do this to me, I'm going to create a billable event for them. Only costs me a co pay!
Avatar n tn Hello, My mother completed HEP C treatment (interferon) approx. 2.5 years ago. She is now experiencing serious body aches and pain as well as depression. The doctor says is not related. Has anyone experienced these and other symptoms? If so, can you share information and advice? Thank you very much!
Avatar m tn My doc says he is hesitant to give me the Peg treatment as it would plunge me into a dangerous depression. Would like comments.
892215 tn?1389722306 does anyone use mj for sides of treatment? I have a friend who does and he says it works better than any pain meds, he also swears it helps with his depression. what do you all think is there any info on this subject?
Avatar m tn I have tremors so bad I have to take anti-tremor meds, and heart meds, and anti-depression meds, well you get the idea. I have absolutely no quality of life, few friends or family have stuck by me because most of them knew me when I was active. Used to be an all star athlete in two sports growing up, and a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Now I am mentally exhausted, physically a mess, and spiritually shot. Suicide is a very attractive option at this point I must say.
Avatar n tn I am having trouble working full time w/ treatment.
Avatar m tn I have started taking a lot of vitamins, including several types of Magnesium, in the hope that they will stop some of the pain flare ups that have been hitting me for over 12 years now (never got treatment for Lyme's). However, I am finding that narcotics are they only way I can have any quality of life, they allow me to clean the house and do the basic things necessary to live, like wash clothes, etc. This disease has disabled me, having done a number on my brain and physically.

Avatar n tn (Viral load 7E6, genotype 1b, grade 3 stage 2 (biopsy)). The VA has denied me treatment because I suffer chronic depression and I also suffer from chronic debilitating back pain and take replacement testosterone. The VA thinks that I will go out and blow my brains out if I go on Interferon. (I live in a very supportive household.) With my stubborn genotype and high viral load they have recommended that I take non-pegylated Interferon/Ribavirin DAILY for 48 weeks.
168348 tn?1379360675 0) SR As advised I went to see another GP today and he said I am NOT hypo, yet he could give no answer for my symptoms other than depression. Now I had these symptoms just over a year, I only became depressed the past 6 weeks out of desperation and frustration in feeling so tired and ill. I asked him to check what my TSH was a year ago and guess what it was 2.
Avatar m tn "Oregon ranks as one of the worst states in the nation to get help for Lyme disease." From a long-time patient advocate comes this: "As some know, though, there is no LLMD in Oregon. Not allowed. Oregon is one of the most hostile states for anyone with Lyme who needs any kind of MD for any reason. Thankfully, though, there are a few ILADS-educated LL NDs (naturopathic doctors).
242516 tn?1368227505 The placebo treatments had a great deal of benefit, almost 80% improvement in depression symptoms. The antidepressants didn't do any better than placebo. They further concluded that the benefit that these antidepressants had on severely depressed patients was from these patient's lack of benefit from placebo treatment. That is to say, severely depressed patients didn't get better from a placebo (pill without any medicine in it).
Avatar f tn The melatonin signal forms part of the system that regulates the sleep-wake cycle by chemically causing drowsiness and lowering the body temperature, but it is the central nervous system (more specifically, the suprachiasmatic nuclei, SCN) that controls the daily cycle in most components of the paracrine and endocrine systems[25][26] rather than the melatonin signal'' ''Melatonin has been studied for the treatment of cancer, immune disorders, cardiovascular diseases, depression, seasonal affec
315996 tn?1429057829 after my recent diagnosis the specialty clinic had me attend a class that explained a lot of stuff about the liver and the Interferon treatment. It was really a good class, and open to questions and insites. One of the things the nurse said that was presenting the class was that they found that Interferon patients seemed to do better on the stuff if they drank a gallon of water a day. This was the Oregon Clinic and considered the place to go here in Portland.
892215 tn?1389722306 Interferon can cause severe depression to the point of suicide and usually those who show any signs of having had depression before ARE excluded from doing treatment at all costs. They are probably looking out for your best interests. Are you already on antidepressents? >>>>all he had to do was increase my ad and put me back on the right meds.
Avatar n tn I live in Ontario Canada. Just wondering am i the only patient that has used medical marijuana during treatment? It helped so much i could not begin to think of what it would be like to do a shot with no mj. as the side affects come on eighteen hours later, full blast! I did have a Dr. sign papers saying that he would monitor my progress. I just wish the same Dr. would listen to my beefs about interferon! So i hold a card enabling me to cannabis at my discression and it helps VERY much.
Avatar f tn I have Kaiser insurance, and it is hospital and insurance in one. I am in Oregon. One of the reason they may not give me a treatment because a new treatment (with four drugs) is very expensive ( I am guessing it is around 80k),I was told that Kaiser here doesn't have a hepatologist, only GI. I never use any drugs and don't drink any alchohol and never had depression in my life. I don't have any health issue. I eat right, and exercise on regular basis.

649848 tn?1534637300 By JUAN CARLOS LLORCA EL PASO, Texas (AP) — A counselor at the local Veterans Affairs office looked at Rebecca King, a victim of domestic violence and abuse who was seeking help for depression, and told her she would not be able to see a psychologist. She looked too nice and put together for someone depressed, King was told. Like others who've failed to receive help at troubled VA offices, the Army veteran then gave up.
Avatar n tn Since he was 4 years old, he had behavior, major behavior problems which has resulted in diagnosis after dignosis. He has been diagnosed with Tourrette's, depression, ADHD (of course), PTSD, and some attachment disorder (cannot remember what they called it). He has been on all kinds of psychiatric meds. and nothing other than clonidine, which he is allergic to, helped. He is now getting ready to turn 14, and this has all spiraled out of control.
Avatar n tn Her health has deteriorated so much from inactivity since she's had neuropathy with weight gain and depression that I'm very concerned and want some answers for her. Potassium and Magnesium somehow relate to leg pain and I'm wondering what dosage is recommended for diabetics to take and if it is dangerous to take too high a dose of either. She takes the 90 mg Potassium with Magnesium. CAN SHE TAKE A HIGHER DOSE TO SEE IF SHE GETS SOME RELIEF???
