Does anyone know where I can get a Fibroscan done in the NYC area? I am 58, genotype 1a slow responder, went through 28 weeks SOC without success. I just had my first liver biopsy and the results were Stage 2 fibrosis, Grade 0 portal inflammation and Grade1 lobular inflammation. However, my MRI shows a cirrhotic morphology, although my spleen is normal size (12.6 cm). I think a Fibroscan may be a good source of supplemental info.

I seen the Dr last night.I was told there is no treatment nessesary at the present time due to the low viral load and the accute diagnosis.I am being monitored to see if the virus goes away or it turns to chronic.I know about the persentages and I was told if it goes chronic then I can be treated. We live in New York city and are looking for a way to do the interferon treatment. Our health insurance is only upgradeable next April and we only have 3000$ worth of coverage on our plan. re not already on anti-depressants, they may be recommended before you start treatment as the treatment drugs can make depression worse.

Welcome to the forum. I agree with Idyllic that there are some pieces missing from your medical history and some of it is not clear. It is not clear what is meant by "positive." Are you sure you have Chronic Hepatitis C or do you just have the antibodies (which are referred to as being positive of negative). If you do have Hepatitis C, then you do need to be Genotyped and you do need to find out what your current viral load is.

s always a good idea to get a second opinion about your diagnosis and treatment plan with another doctor, especially from a large research hospital (usually located in bigger cities). Most likely the second doctor will run their own pathology tests to verifty the diagnosis and then make a recommendation for treatment (which may or may not be the same as the first doctor).
