Avatar f tn I don't know why the doctors would be refusing Hepatitis C treatment for people with Depression. Interferon can cause Depression but you won't be using Interferon. There are Interferon free treatments available. Even with Interferon treatments, the doctors treated people with Depression unless they were very unstable or suicidal. I have a long history of Depression and I treated in 2011-2012 for 48 weeks with Interferon, Ribavirin, and Incivek. I did fine.
Avatar n tn Hi Everyone! I made it back from NYC with no problem. Did my first shot at the Drs office around 11:30 am. It is now 1:30 pm and I am waiting. I took two Advils and am drinking water. Any other advise? Thanks, J.
145315 tn?1192241113 htm I think if you take a few puffs here and there and it helps you combat debilitating depression or side effects enough to stay on treatment and cure your HCV, that can be a good thing if that is the only thing that works for you or the most effective thing that works for you and it becomes the difference between getting through treatment or not.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with HIV within 6 months of the infection in December 2009 and I decided to start treatment right away. By then I used to live in NYC and the decision of starting treatment right away was mine- I didn’t know what the future would hold! When I was diagnosed my CD4 count was 600 and my viral load 7,000. My genotype showed that my virus was sensitive to all treatments and I started with Atripla. I’ve been undetectable since February 2010 and my CD count has always been above 800.
Avatar n tn Castro at Cleveland Clinic in FL, pay for an apt and hope he can get free treatment (Cleveland Clinic does have financial assistance if he qualifies); 3) he may move back to NYC where he automatically qualifies for financial assistance and Medicaid because of HIV status - the problem w/ this is it's way too expensive to live there, my job is here, and he'd be living on friend's couches while treating.
Avatar n tn I went through 3 months of treatment for Hep C. I was taken off be the depression was very very bad. Its been 8 months now and I'm starting to feel like I'm on the #$%@$* treatment again. I feel as if I'm in a dream state I can't shake. Will this end or has the treatment changed my body.
748543 tn?1463449675 For the past few weeks I have been throwing around ideas as to the best way to respond to this matter. You see a recent article ( Feb.3 , 2009 NY times) titled "Best treatment for TMJ May be Nothing" nearly made me clench my jaw to pieces. While well written, I found that the author, Ms. Brody, relied heavily on out dated and narrow perspective supplied to her by a small group of dentists.
1582614 tn?1310328508 ) As for your other health concerns during treatment, if you're already being monitored for depression and hypothyroid, you're a bit ahead of the game as your docs will be keeping a particular eye on these things as well as other things, as they'll likely (hopefully) be more vigilant as a result.
Avatar f tn I am not working because of the depression, I have a husband, who is supportive of whatever I decide, and no kids, so I could do the treatment now. Part of me hopes if treatment is successful, it might help with the depression and enable me to get back to work. A bigger part of me is terrified of doing permanent damage and worsening the depression beyond the point of treatment.
Avatar f tn Being diagnosed with bipolar disorder 2 an on mood stabilizers an antidepressants for years an completely stable, I was terrified that the treatment would spiral me into a crisis. So far, no severe depression, just a lot of irritability which I can handle so far. The way I see it, you guys are so brave going into treatment without an antidepressant or something along those lines. I share this with everyone because maybe there will be someone else starting treatment with the same fears I had.
Avatar f tn I was just wondering if anyone has been on birth control pills and have suffered from anxiety or depression issues? I have been on the pill for 11yrs now and cant take how I am feeling anymore. I went on the pill for irregular periods, but since then I have been feeling blah, libido has decreased severely, I have sinus problems- I found out I have no allergies- so I think it is related to axiety, I worry constantly about everything; I get so nervous I get light headed sometimes.
181549 tn?1277211196 I would hate, though, to be in the category of persons who chose to treat and had NO aggravating health problems or symptoms prior to treatment only to find a host of them after treatment. Unfortunately, it happens to some people who attempt treatment with ANY thing, but -- yeah - this is Hep C tx we are talking about, and there is no denying the drugs are very powerful and carry strong warnings.
Avatar n tn some folks loose hair but it grows back after treatment...some folks get depression but AD's seem to help. some get blurry vision and you must keep an eye on this (no pun intended) so the dr can monitor it and warn you of any serious developments. but most of the time you just feel lowsy. a general crudy feeling while on treatment and kind of crabby and tense, for this we use zanax. i think these are the main side effects.
Avatar f tn I have hypothyroid and depression. An article in the NYTimes recently discussed the link between the two. Most endocrinologists look at my tests and say I'm fine because they are within normal limits. But I feel horrible - tired, depressed, gaining weight. I'm seeking a doctor in NYC who understands this relationship and can look at the whole picture, not just my thyroid numbers.
Avatar f tn Do you still get help for your depression and is your medication helping you if you take it? Depression frequently comes and goes in cycles and sometimes never fully leaves. It sounds like yours is getting a bit worse but perhaps not overly so. I always suggest getting an appointment with a psychiatrist and let him know what you are going thru. Therapy and medication can be quite helpful. let us know how you make out. Check out the attached link. http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar n tn After a few days, blisters did apear on my right foot, they lasted about a week. I was under Dr. care but, no one knew what it was until I went into NYC to see neurolgist[Nov],who said he thought it was shingles. He did a nerve and musle test and found damage at L5. It is now 1 1/2 later and I still have nerve pain. My left leg has always been the worse. This does not make any sence, since the blisters where on my right leg. I now have some numbness in my uppper left thigh.
Avatar n tn I understand that you have been diagnosed with depression and ADD. Amphetamines are used commonly in the treatment of ADD and are used occasionally in depression. Regarding your symptoms of depression and hypersomnolence after stopping methamphetamine, depression, lethargy and fatigue are all common withdrawal side effects. I can not say these were definitely withdrawal symptoms, however, because it sounds like you previously had these symptoms.
Avatar m tn I believe Xolair is FDA approved as an injectible treatment for asthma. Clinical trials for treatment of chronic idiopathic urticaria are happening in a few medical centres in the United States and Europe. I am surprised that your allergist would not be able to provide you with information on its availability and FDA status.
Avatar n tn Btw I have hepc also and I am treating. Also there are many people who have depression and still do treatment for hep c. The doctors usually will start the patient on Anti depressants and monitor them during tx. Of course each case is different and you would need to see a doctor to see if this is something that they would want you to do. Its best to see several doctors and get several consults.

Avatar m tn and have been dealing with on and off depression for years. Personally, treatment did not seem to exacerbate any existing depression; of course, your mileage may vary. Have you had a recent biopsy? How is your current histology? Good luck going forward, and thanks again for the HIV work; that groundwork might have helped save our goose :o).
Avatar f tn Zoladex is an implant. Treatment is for 3 months at a time, however, the treatment puts into menopause - hot flashes, depression, weight gain, etc. There is no ovulation, one becomes infertile. I was told by the doc, my chances are slim ....so they will try everything after my treatment to get me preg. After the last treatment (31 July 2008), I will go back to determine as to whether the endo has actually cleared or not. I am so eager to know what's the next steps...
195469 tn?1388326488 Progressive-relapsing MS, a rare form of the disease, is characterized by gradual neurological deterioration from the onset of symptoms and subsequent superimposed relapses. Avatar dr m tn I realize it's controversial to say that most of insomnia is actually a breathing issue, but take a look at all the studies that show that having insomnia places you at a higher risk for developing depression, diabetes, and heart disease later in life—all complications of obstructive sleep apnea. Of course CBT is still very useful and should be recommended much more often than offered currently. In addition, good sleep hygiene is still the gold standard and must be tried first.
Avatar f tn Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I am really anxious to get back into life. that's why i know it's not depression, I WANT to do things, I have the desire, but physically, i can not. what should i do? what should i be asking for? should i see a specialist? not sure how much longer i can go on now knowing or getting an treatment.
559410 tn?1233504129 It is noticeable to others around her, even to her neighbors, so I know an abnormal neural pathway exists which should be treated. It is personal, but give me your best advice on direct and discreet treatment. She doesn't have alot of money, is very strong and tries hard, but needs help.
104652 tn?1196603908 As the treatment has gone on, I have found my "rage" has got better, not so much because it is not there, but because I understand it better, and my family does also. I know now that there are times I have to isolate myself, or just not do certain tasks. The biggest thing I found though, is that a lot of the rage for me, came from iratibility, which was linked to sleep issues. I recognize oncomming iratibility now as a sign that I need to rest, or sleep.
Avatar f tn I just finished my 7thwk from the nyc clinical trial of the same drug. You have a 2 and 3 change of getting albuferon and 1/3 chance of peg interferon. If your lucky enough to get albuferon the side effects are not as bad as interferon. I am on 1200mg of albuferon plus 6 riba pills per day. My side effects are mostly tolerable. The results of the prior albuferon are in Albuferon showed a similar effacy as interferon with less side effects than interferon.
