Avatar n tn I have been on Anafranil (Clomipramine) 150 mg for the last 10 years for major depression (unipolar). My depression is worse in the winter and spring. It seems to have a rapid cycling course: I am very depressed one day, and then wake up the next day feeling fine and energetic. So in one week there are about 3 or 4 bad days alternating with good days.
Avatar f tn When I-129 or I-131 is ingested, some of it concentrates in the thyroid gland. The rest passes from the body in urine. In the body, iodine 131 (RAI) has a biological half-life of about 7 days for the body as a whole. It has different biological half-lives. It does not even damage structures next to the thyroid gland itself.
2094297 tn?1345392693 I just lasted a little time on the Incivek and I can tell you, I'd do 2 yrs on Peg/Riba over 3 months on Incivek. BUT...if I could tolerate it, I'd be back on it in a New York minute! With a 70% CURE RATE, it's worth the discomfort. I wish you the best of luck. Make sure to keep open communication w your doctor/nurse and let them know what your problems are. There are so many options to manage your symptoms, but no one can help you until you let them know!
Avatar f tn My parents and I had to go all the way to New York City to get the care I needed. Don't give up. Use sites like this one to get as much info as you can. Using a search engine, try typing in everything you know about your case and see what you can find. Look for hospitals which specialize in the areas that concern you personally. When you visit your doctors, make sure you are able to clearly describe your problems. In so doing, they are much more likely to take you seriously.
748543 tn?1463449675 For the past few weeks I have been throwing around ideas as to the best way to respond to this matter. You see a recent article ( Feb.3 , 2009 NY times) titled "Best treatment for TMJ May be Nothing" nearly made me clench my jaw to pieces. While well written, I found that the author, Ms. Brody, relied heavily on out dated and narrow perspective supplied to her by a small group of dentists.

Avatar n tn The doctor I had was and is rated by my western New York community and his peers as the best internist in the area. I do not blame him for any of the failings in my treatment, other than the fact he perhaps was ignorant as to the severity of the mental side-effects.
990354 tn?1307136486 I actually called me dad in from Cali (I live in New York) to come in when my sister overdosed on heroin. At that point I brought my whole family together for an intervention and we got her to finally go into rehab.... the day she got out she relapsed on meth. It's crazy how her addiction has triggered mine now. I just love her so much and not having her in my life has been the toughest battle for me, but I DON'T want to end up like her or let her addiction take my life too.
1930700 tn?1327068504 Maybe this new breed is just like me, they know everything there is to know in life or they have read the forum for years before establishing the 'interferon is of the Dehvahl' mantra? Always a very odd first choice of posts isn't it considering most people say "ok this is what i need to do to beat this thing".

Avatar n tn If it turns out nothing Western Medicine can do, consider contacting someone like Dr. Zhang in New York City or Dr.? Misha Cohen in CA. Both use herbal remedies. Some here have said good things about Zhang and I know he sometimes lectures doctors on Eastern practices. Dr. Andrew Weil endorses him on his web site. Misha Cohen has written a book with Dr. Gish, a well-respected liver specialist in CA. Hope the future becomes a little bit brighter.
151263 tn?1243377877 Initially I was somewhat underweight as I was during treatment. I started treatment at 185lbs, dropped to about 168lbs during treatment, and then finished off about 175lbs. During that time my body composition changed though, I lost muscle mass and gained body fat around my belly. They call it “intra-abdominal” fat. It’s where fat collects around your organs and trunk and it’s especially unhealthy for you. Well that’s what seemed to happen to me.
370801 tn?1264408618 My work outs are much more intense and I just feel strong like I am not so worried about how I might feel in the future or what I could endure. I feel strong. I hope that more people will try taking these injections and educating themselves about depression. Maybe some people like those drugs.. I hated them. Another fact, I have been a vegetarian and almost vegan most of my life... this could have something to do with the fact that I probably needed the b12, but countless doctors..

And now they believe they have one – a drug that has proved powerful in animal trials, while avoiding tolerance, addiction, and sedative problems.
