Common Questions and Answers about Depression treatment illinois

Avatar n tn For the past 7.25 yrs I've worked for an Illinois municipality as a mechanic. Its a physically hard job w/snowplow duties at all hours of night/day. I'm concerned about disclosure to my employer (the village I work for) in regards to treatment and the possible need to take time off if sides are bad. Also I don't know who would find out like coworkers as this disease is feared so much. It's a small place (150 employees) so if I started looking sickly the rumors would fly.
748543 tn?1463449675 For the past few weeks I have been throwing around ideas as to the best way to respond to this matter. You see a recent article ( Feb.3 , 2009 NY times) titled "Best treatment for TMJ May be Nothing" nearly made me clench my jaw to pieces. While well written, I found that the author, Ms. Brody, relied heavily on out dated and narrow perspective supplied to her by a small group of dentists.
Avatar n tn i don't even know where to begin. depressed as a child, so when i discovered drinking i loved it. when i was 19 i got into a.a. and remembered an incident of abuse by a teenaged neighbor, just felt "crazy" started cutting etc after being sober for almost a year. depression led to drinking again, and then first hospitalization.
Avatar f tn BECAUSE he can still perform at the top of his game professionally, I cannot believe that this is simple depression. It's as if he is choosing to be this way--If I hear the phrase 'I am so very, very sick' from him one more time I will punch him. He's healthier (on paper) than he has been for years--but still plays the sick victim, I did stop taking any food to him in bed. Said it was enabling this behavior and he's pouting over that--but I jus don't care.
253566 tn?1219683299 Mine was normal both before and during treatment, but dropped and remained low normal for over a year post treatment. My symptons aren't as bad as yours, so haven't supplemented the testosterone, but you might consider at least trying it, even if you're in the low or perhaps even mid-normal range. You also mention your lab results are out of whack. What tests specifically aren't right?
Avatar m tn I believe Xolair is FDA approved as an injectible treatment for asthma. Clinical trials for treatment of chronic idiopathic urticaria are happening in a few medical centres in the United States and Europe. I am surprised that your allergist would not be able to provide you with information on its availability and FDA status.
1310633 tn?1430227691 Washington (CNN) -- Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr., on a leave of absence from Congress since early June, is suffering from a medical condition more serious than initially disclosed, his office revealed Thursday. Avatar m tn I am suffering from I think depression. But I am concerned that if I seek medical help, this will make me less hirable in the special-needs profession. I love working with special needs kids and childlike adults. Probably one of the reasons I am so depressed is that I am out of work right now, though depression has been part of my life ever since I can remember. Could someone comment on my quandary??

Avatar n tn Where are you in Illinois? I grew up in Southern IL (graduated from SII-Carbondale) and still have lots of family in the area. I too have a family history of thyroid problems. I was diagnosed with Graves Diseas a year ago and had TT in Dec 06 for Papillary Thyca. I have a sister who is scheduled to have a TT on 16 Nov, Her surgeon gave her a 20% chance of the multiple nodules being cancer. My mother and another sister had thyroid problems in the past but not cancer.

Avatar n tn (29) observed anxiety, depression, hysteria and other somatic complaints, which improved with thyroxine treatment. Recently Pop et al. (30) found depression to be significantly related to increased TPOAb levels, but not to subclinical or overt hyper- or hypothyroidism. Nevertheless, the high Odds Ratios (2.9 to 7.9) found by Pop et al. (30) in all these thyroid disorders, even if not statistically significant, are very suggestive.
Avatar f tn Partly because I am not always good about taking my medicine and partly because I had another baby in July of 2006. Once I started the treatment I did feel better, but not back to how I was before this happened. My TSH started at 314 and slowly went down with each dosage increase. I still have all of my symptoms however!! My hair loss being the one I am most concerned about. Before this all happened I had very thick hair. Now after 4 years of treatment I look aweful.
Avatar f tn I feel so foolish and I want all of this to end. It may just seem like another depression story... but it hurts much more than I can tell you. My whole life has been filled with darkness and hurt, and I've been too blind to realize it sooner. Every time I burst, every time I send out my emotions in a wild craze... the emotions are sucked back in again; every time I want to smash something or put a gun to my head I realize that I can do nothing. I'm driving myself insane and I'm all alone...
11852 tn?1216845043 Ask what your endo can do *if* you experience the depression. Other than that, we're here for you to ask whatever you want (your endo probably hasn't been through it personally so may not know how the hot flashes feel or how cranky we can get). Please fill us in on more of your surgery details when you can. I realize it's been crazy having your TT right before the holidays and all but we'd like to know. Welcome back!
Avatar f tn My 17 yr old son had a full physical as required to start college. Just a routine visit has turned into a nightmare. His TSH was 414 with a T4 of 0.13. The doctor retested and got almost the exact same results. He doesn't have any alarming symptoms that I can tell, just sluggishness and depression which after speaking to him about I just put off as him being a "typical lazy teenager.
Avatar m tn Losing my job was so hard and the disability process was debasing. I know I'm fighting depression, but there is so much more to it. I have the family support to travel if you can recommend a doc that is willing to look beyond what I'm already dealing with.
Avatar f tn As you are already under treatment (Toprol) my recommendation would be to increase potassium/magnesium intake (potassium: bananas; magnesium: all nuts, artichokes, spinach, beans and tomato), and try to decrease your stress/anxiety if possible. If you feel under too much pressure, stressed or with anxiety, I would recommend seeing your physician to discuss about therapy (med and no med). Your doctor could also take an electrocardiogram to define if your symptoms are an increase of PVCs.
Avatar f tn I'm sorry to hear what you have been through for the last few months. Treatment for post concussion is focused on the individual symptoms present since the severity and extent are unique to each person. While symptoms usually resolve after a several months, medications and other adjunctive therapies may also help. Prescription medications may help with headaches and associated symptoms.
973741 tn?1342346373 Compulsive shopping or spending can be a seasonal balm for the depression, anxiety and loneliness during the December holiday season. It also can occur when a person feels depressed, lonely and angry. Shopping and spending will not assure more love, bolster self-esteem, or heal the hurts, regrets, stress, and the problems of daily living. It generally makes these feelings worse because of the increased financial debt the person has obtained from compulsive shopping.
442340 tn?1326821017 That sux big time, I'm not on treatment yet, but I have Blue Shield as my HMO and I've always wondered what they would cover, should I need their assistance. I'm not even the same geno type as you are, but I can understand why you needed to vent. Society has to accept this virus and quit treating us heppers like they did the leppers. It seems to me that we have been dealt a double whammy.
Avatar f tn I do know that your body can take a year or more to recover from treatment. Some people around here DO have lingering side effects from treatment but not all. Hope that helps a little. Sorry I don't have more personal insight to lend. I have a feeling some people will be along with good links for you!
1067297 tn?1255034164 For now, be glad that you have started on the journey to find out what's wrong and to get treatment. THAT is a very big and very necessary first step! It's easy for Lyme to take over your life ... it happens to many if not most of us. Don't beat yourself up, just do the best you can and know that your body is struggling to get well. Be kind to yourself -- you and your body are not enemies -- it's the 'bugs'.
Avatar n tn If you have any problems, like drug addiction or depression that may be factored in the treatment equation more than it would on the outside and that's frustrating. If you play the system, if you are patient (no pun intended) and you can wait sometimes you should receive wonderful care at the VA.
Avatar m tn I have the power to help her, but I know I am only enabling her. We are looking at treatment centers, but they all seem a joke because they only treat the addiciton NOT the underlying causes, one of hers being extreme anxiety, panic disorder. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO???
Avatar m tn My phone thought I meant I'll and it changed it..I meant Illinois..I'm in Illinois.
