Avatar f tn I don't know why the doctors would be refusing Hepatitis C treatment for people with Depression. Interferon can cause Depression but you won't be using Interferon. There are Interferon free treatments available. Even with Interferon treatments, the doctors treated people with Depression unless they were very unstable or suicidal. I have a long history of Depression and I treated in 2011-2012 for 48 weeks with Interferon, Ribavirin, and Incivek. I did fine.
Avatar f tn thank you Rumpled. I went to 2 endocrinologist in Texas Medical Center. One from Houston Thyroid Center and One from Baylor College of Medicine. They ordered the complete hormone check up for me with fasting. (ACTH, TFH, SFH, IGF, Cortisol, Thyroxine, CBC and Comp. Metabolic Penal). All of them came in normal range except for Prolactin and Macro Prolactin with slight elevation 40ng/mL.
Avatar m tn Welcome to the forum. I haven't started tx, but remember reading that you might have a fever and chills, especially after the first shot. So be sure to have some extra blankets or a heating blanket or hot bottle. You might also need some cold packs. Have some water to drink by your bedside. Hopefully you will be able to sleep through most of the symptoms, if you have any. Here in Denmark they tell you to take paracetamol (tylenol) when you do your shot.
1139187 tn?1355710247 Mary Ruppe, at UT Endocrinologists in Houston (I suppose that's University of Texas) and her phone # is 832 325-7161. My sis is going to approach her about adding T3 when she sees her in July and I'm really interested to see what she has to say. I'm curious, are you on Cytomel or generic T3 ? I had a problem with generic, got hyper and had palps, dizziness and joint pain on it after about 5 months even though the dose was the same as Cytomel.
748543 tn?1463449675 For the past few weeks I have been throwing around ideas as to the best way to respond to this matter. You see a recent article ( Feb.3 , 2009 NY times) titled "Best treatment for TMJ May be Nothing" nearly made me clench my jaw to pieces. While well written, I found that the author, Ms. Brody, relied heavily on out dated and narrow perspective supplied to her by a small group of dentists.

Avatar f tn I'm in the Houston Tx area. I'm having episodes off rage, burst of energy that immediately folliw depression/irritability. I'm a recovering addict with a mental illness who can't afford help. I sobered myself up but life is very hard to manage, even after 7 yrs. I've taken anxiety/depression meds, usually makes it worse. I hate taking things anyhoo being an addict. Everyone tells me it's most likely necessary.
Avatar n tn I was shocked to say the least since I had already complained of waking up with stomach and chest pains and depression. he is a famous dr. in houston who has a book out. They have recently not returned any of my calls. I don't think I have been out of line for asking alot of questions. My real question is why is all of the three tests so low and what can I do? IF I increase my levoxyl and armour I start feeling that way again. I have on my on dropped one of the armour tablets that I was taking.
3093770 tn?1389742726 Valentine AD, Meyers CA, Talpaz M. Department of Neuro-Oncology, University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, USA. Interferon-alpha (IFN-alpha) has potential dose-limiting neurotoxic side effects when used in cancer therapy. The nature of this neurotoxicity is speculative, and there is no definitive treatment.
323051 tn?1206928283 He believes the evidence supports use as a first line treatment for issues it effectively treats. Writing on behalf of the Houston VA Pain Management Program, psychologists Dr. Gabriel Tan and Dr. Julie Alvarez argue for integrating CES and self hypnosis into multidisciplinary pain treatment programs. Clinic patients usually have intense chronic pain, not helped by analgesics; additionally, they often travel long distances for treatment, having limited means, and social problems.
Avatar m tn I've got HepC and have had since (I'm betting - May 6, 1986) from a blood transfusion at Medical City in Dallas, Texas. Of course they didn't test for HepC back then, pity. Regardless, I get to deal with what I have. I am having major issues with little or no sleep for days (make that nights too.) Itching, burning skin on swollen legs and ankles and joint pain issues are worse than bad breath from a buzzard but not worse than not sleeping.
725350 tn?1318684068 They found Memorial Hermann PaRC in Houston. I stayed there in residential treatment for 16 days, followed by 15 days of intensive outpatient treatment, and then 2 months of limited outpatient treatment. For the first few months, I was content just being sober. I was on the proverbial “pink cloud” of not having to use and find ways to means to get more. After about 3 months clean, I started working the steps with a sponsor, who has been amazing to me.
4544656 tn?1371597148 I flew to Houston to see a top thyroid doc. They put me on bioidentical hormones. Thyroid, adrenal, and progesterone. After 7 months, I still wasn't any better. They had a meeting about me. They said they suspected Lyme and I needed a better test called IGenex. My results are: IGM: 18+, 23-25 IND, 31+, 39 IND, 41+, 83-93 IND IGG: 31 IND, 39 IND, 41 ++ The Houston doctors told me they suspected Lyme and I need an LLMD. I have been under the care of an LLMD for 3 months.
Avatar f tn Sent home No treatment, Doctor said no medications, eat well and I would begin to get better. Went from 80 pounds to normal 125 at 5ft. 2". Worked and raised one child never feeling long hours of energy but high energy when I slept until my body woke on its own. 1995 I was told I have hepatitis C and that this is the unidentified Virus I have had for years. Earlier there was simply no name for it. Today I do not feel well. My awakening hours are few that I feel real well.
Avatar n tn Hi Johnny in Texas. I read your post below to me. YES VF, GBS and or CIDP can result from dental woes. Ironically, just last night after my GP called me late, I got on the net again. Go to GOOGLE Search and type in Guillain2 This brought up a wealth of information. I saw where various surgical procedures can cause this. They stated Oral Surgery. I had a horrid infection for almost a year in a tooth and had repeated oral surgical treatment in 1995.
Avatar f tn Thanks mag, for the info and suggestions. I will try going to my local compounding pharmacy, the pharmacist there is very nice.. I use compounded progesterone cream and get it through CVS mail order, so perhaps I could do that with T3 as well and get time released.Does anyone else use that with success? I tried Armour about a year and a half ago as I had been feeling very well on the combination and thought if I could take just the one pill it would be good.
Avatar m tn I doubt that someone who is the manager of Clinical Operations of the Methodist Transplant Center in Houston, Texas would be cruel enough to post 10 year old information. Aside from that the very word "Dormant" has a sinister ring to it; to me anyway. I want to hear "Cured". Dormant means non-active but present. Dormant volcanos often rumble back to life. Seeds can lie dormant for centuries and spring to life.
10623623 tn?1414295689 It is probably the only thing keeping me from going completely off the edge as it slightly lifts my depression. I go to counseling and work other programs while using the Zubsolv. My psychiatrist and I feel it is best to keep me on it right now for various reasons. I don't mention it almost at all on here because I am happy with my treatment and know this is very debatable for others. I don't wish to be in the middle of such a debate. I do thank you for your concern, though.
Avatar n tn lists (if only I could find them now---I guess the Provigil has worn off). By Tx, do you mean Treatment or Texas? (I'm both!). I hope that your day as a vampire gives you a nice pick-me-up. We're now counting down on ONE HAND. To me, that's huge.

Avatar f tn Has anyone heard anything about Cranial electrotherapy stimulation (CES) for reducing pain or for inducing sleep? The info says it's FDA approved for insomnia, depression and anxiety and shows promise for FM. This excerpt is meant more specifically for addiction, but talks about it more broadly too.
Avatar n tn We have been to neurologist, neuro-opthhamologist, neuro-audiologist, very aggressive therapy of every kind at TIRR in Houston, Texas and she is physically very strong but cannot progress to get out of her wheel chair and walking with a walker or on her own because of this dizziness issue, she has 20/20 vision with glasses and we've attempted prisms but she was not a candidate for this. It is her most frustrating issue and really hinders her joy for life.
73878 tn?1214056807 Good luck Fish, did you say Houston? I am in West Texas and I only wish there were some liver experts here.
Avatar n tn I have family in North Carolina, I'm in a little town called Groves about 100 miles east of Houston on the Texas/Louisiana border. have a good day! teeitup!
Avatar f tn No one knows whats going on, and has been labeled with VASAL VAGAL SYNCOPY( which just means fainting), anxiety and depression, also accused of doing it himself. Neuro says its not neuro, cardic says its not cardic. I took him to the pulmanary dr thinking could be his asthma specialist said its not the asthma and hes getting the right treatment, child therapist says its not mental.
393419 tn?1228450993 For example, on this Top Thyroid Doctors site, for Texas, there are a number of doctors listed for the Houston area. There might be a good prospect among them. The best way to find out is to read the patients' reviews, looking for evidence that symptoms are considered in treating patients. Also look for indications that the doctor is willing to prescribe T3 type meds, such as Armour, NatureThroid, or Cytomel. http://www.thyroid-info.com/topdrs/texas.
Avatar m tn About 6 months ago the chemical sensitivity got severe after exposure to a certain chemical and now I have depression, confusion and sensitivities mainly around certain chemicals. I have no fatigue or joint issues. Because this has been going on for so long I saw a physician two weeks ago who is running a bunch of tests for toxicity but we also discussed Lyme. he didn't think I had classic symptoms but is running the tests anyway, one of which is CD57.
Avatar n tn The question above about Houston----no, I don't live in Houston. I live in a small town 130 miles from Houston. The LOCAL doctors here are a scary bunch. So we travel to Houston once a month to see a good hepatologist.
