Adderall is the most commonly prescribed ADHD medicine for adults. I think most insurance companies cover it until a person is 25. Some will cover it for longer. I had to start paying out of pocket on my 26th birthday.

i mean im a medical student i studied a psychiatric course and what i read from many lectures about depression is it says one of the etiology is genetic! so do i have higher risk for depression than someone whose mother is not depressed?
t remember the name of the test except it may be something like .... C-26(?) I am going to have the test re-done. I have had a Pap Smear, Mammogram, Cat Scan of my chest and belly, and another Colonoscopy which showed no sign of cancer. My doctor told me if the blood test is hight again then he wants me to have a full body Cat Scan. I am very confused about this whole process. Can anyone shed some light on this for me.

I think you have it backwards -- drugs can only help so much, it's therapy that is a cure if there is a cure. It's also well recognized that most childhood anxiety is of a different nature than the chronic anxiety that affects adults. These meds were never tested on children nor approved for children, so are used off-label. I'd do anything to avoid meds for adults, and even more so for children.

There is a very strong link between depression and ADD or ADHD. In kids, its 10 to 30% ("The ADD/ ADHD Answer book," by Susan Ashley. ), My own opinion from reading posts here from undiagnosed adults is that it is much higher. My opinion is that if your therapist wants to help you, the therapist would do some research on AD/HD. Knowing what is the cause of depression is the fastest way to deal with it. If you are not supposed to diagnose, then who is?
But again, agree with above that seeking help for the depression is the right thing to do for yourself as well as your future employment.

And, yes, exercise can be very helpful. While a lot of the links are aimed at kids, it works just as well for adults. Not to mention that exercise is a great way to battle depression.
